We present experimental and modelling results of the first self-injected excimer laser. The intracavity losses of a XeCl oscillator are properly modulated by a Pockels cell allowing generation, amplification and extraction of short laser pulses with selectable duration in the range of 1–12 ns, tailored temporal profile and peak power increment up to a factor of three. Longer output laser pulses, up to 100 ns, can be obtained by slicing the intracavity laser radiation without peak power increment. Laser output peak powers in excess of 2 MW have been obtained, with remarkable reproducibility characteristics.ENEA fellow 相似文献

The properties of defects in Fe-doped KTaO3, both in the form of single crystals and polycrystalline ceramics, have been investigated for a wide range of Fe concentrations. The techniques employed included infrared (IR) absorption, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and ac electrical conductivity together with complex-impedance analysis. Samples were pretreated (at 900° C) in water vapor to introduce protons which take the form of OH·
O defects, and were also treated at various oxygen partial pressures. A calibration of the OH– IR absorption band was carried out with the aid of a deuterium nuclear-probe method. EPR showed cubic and axial Fe3+ spectra, but only the axial spectrum appeared for crystals with high Fe concentrations. Pre-dominantly proton conductivity was observed for samples treated in reducing atmospheres, and a proton-hopping activation energy of 0.73 eV was deduced. For samples treated in high oxygen pressures, however, hole conduction dominated. Evidence for proton interaction effects was also found, but the nature of the traps is not clear. 相似文献

Our study focus on β,β′-doubly linked corrole dimers (CDs) on mica and Au(1 1 1) surface using samples prepared by the synthetic method described by Osuka group appeared on recent publication [S. Hiroto, K. Furukawa, H. Shinokubo, A. Osuka, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 128 (2006) 12380]. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) were used to investigate the self-assembled structure of corrole dimers adsorbed on mica and Au(1 1 1) surfaces respectively at room temperature in air. The CDs adopt a dissimilar adsorption modality due to the different surface free energy of the different substrates. These types of molecular layers provide a useful platform for the study of surface and interface phenomena outside a vacuum system. It is potentially useful for practical fabrication of molecular devices because of the simplicity of the sample preparation and the stability of the interface in ambient conditions. 相似文献

A simple switchable and tunable dual-wavelength passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring laser based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) effect is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The NPR effect effectively induces wavelength- and intensity-dependent loss to readily implement stable dual-wavelength passively mode-locked operation. The wavelength switching and tuning of the dual-wavelength ultrashort pulse laser are achieved only by appropriately rotating the polarization controllers. The side-mode suppression ratio of the output pulse is larger than 41 dB over a wavelength-tuning range of 43.4 nm. Moreover, triple-wavelength ultrashort pulse can also be observed. 相似文献

We have designed and grown a resonant, low-finesse quantum-dot saturable absorber mirror and subsequently modified the important
parameters using chemical etching. The modulation depth and saturation fluence at the design wavelength of 1064 nm were modified
by etching the sample to tune the cavity resonance. The device properties were characterised using normal incidence spectroscopic
reflectivity measurements, intensity dependent reflectivity measurements and modelled using a transfer matrix approach. The
saturable absorber mirror was used to facilitate self-starting, passively mode locked pulses in a neodymium vanadate laser
operating at 1064 nm. The etching was found to affect the duration of the pulses, leading to temporal width tuning over a
range of 94 ps. The shortest pulse duration of 84 ps was achieved for the cavity resonance close to 1064 nm, with an output
power of 3 W. This method is an effective technique for post-growth engineering of the properties of semiconductor saturable
absorber mirrors (SESAMs) with nanometre precision. 相似文献

We have demonstrated the stable mode-locked Nd:GdVO4 laser operating on the 4F3/2-4I9/2 transition at 912 nm. With a four-mirror-folded cavity and a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror for passive mode-locking, we have gained 6.5 ps laser pulses at a repetition rate of 178 MHz. The laser is diode-end-pumped, and the total output power from the out coupler is 128 mw at an incident pump power of 19.7 W. 相似文献

We experimentally analyze the self-starting operation of a figure-eight mode-locked fiber laser. The design is based on a power-balanced nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) with highly twisted low-birefringence fiber and a quarter-wave (QW) retarder in the loop. The NOLM operates by nonlinear polarization rotation. Self-starting mode-locking requires a careful adjustment of the NOLM low-power transmission, which is easily realized with our setup by adjusting the angle of the QW retarder. The laser is capable of generating ∼20 ps pulses at the fundamental repetition frequency of 0.78 MHz. 相似文献
