Exact solution of plane isolated crack normal to a bimaterial interface of infinite extent

This paper presents an exact solution for the transverse interface crack in the plane strain case. The crack is perpendicular to the interface and in one material. The exact complex stress functions are first obtained with some unknown constants. The satisfactions of all boundary conditions are then checked, the condition at infinity is considered and the unknown constants are determined. Further study may focus on the case with different shear moduli and the influence of the large deformation.The English text was polished by Keren Wang.

An exposition of the topological half of the Grothendieck–Hirzebruch–Riemann–Roch theorem in the fancy language of spectra

We give an informal exposition of pushforwards and orientations in generalized cohomology theories in the language of spectra. The whole note can be seen as an attempt at convincing the reader that Todd classes in Grothendieck–Hirzebruch–Riemann–Roch type formulas are not Devil’s appearances but rather that things just go in the most natural possible way.

A mixed hp FEM for the approximation of fourth‐order singularly perturbed problems on smooth domains

We consider fourth‐order singularly perturbed problems posed on smooth domains and the approximation of their solution by a mixed Finite Element Method on the so‐called Spectral Boundary Layer Mesh. We show that the method converges uniformly, with respect to the singular perturbation parameter, at an exponential rate when the error is measured in the energy norm. Numerical examples illustrate our theoretical findings.

In this paper, the author concerns two trace Trudinger-Moser inequalities and obtains the corresponding extremal functions on a compact Riemann surface (Σ, g) with smooth boundary ?Σ. Further, he extends the result to the case of higher order eigenvalues. The contact Yamabe flow on K-contact manifolds

We use the contact Yamabe flow to find solutions of the contact Yamabe problem on K-contact manifolds.     

Parallel Schwarz alternating methods for anisotropic diffusion of speckled medical images

This paper deals with ultrasound medical image processing, particularly to filter the noise while preserving the edges and structures of information. The mathematical processing consists in solving by a numerical way a nonlinear evolutive boundary value problem. Several numerical semi-implicit time marching schemes are considered and analyzed. At each time step, parallel synchronous or asynchronous Schwarz alternating methods are used to solve the linear system and its convergence is studied. Lastly, the results of sequential and parallel simulations are presented.
