Concentration profiles and breakthrough curves in non-linear chromatography

The treatment of the non-linear isotherm in chromatography by one of the authors [1] is extended to other cases of practical interest. The original paper dealt with the case of an initially thin zone resulting in a Poisson distribution the asymmetry of which is a function of the plate number and the non-linearity constant. The present work shows that the same relations apply to initially thick zones and to the cases of washing and deposition leading to simple relations for breakthrough curves. For significantly non-linear isotherms other quasi-Gaussian distributions can give a better fit.

以(NH_4)_2WS_4、FeCl_3和NaS_2CNC_5H_(10)为原料,合成出[Fe(DMF)_6][W_2S_6]簇合物,用X射线衍射法测定了晶胞结构.其晶胞参数为a=0.8778(1)nm,b=0.9467(3)nm,c=1.1362(6)nm,α=71.506(1)°,β=74.775(2)°,γ=74.775(2)°,ν=0.84806nm~3,Z=1.晶体结构经块矩阵最小二乘法精修后,最终偏离因子R=0.0811.此外还进行了红外光谱、紫外可见光谱的测定.     

Optimization of stepwise gradient elution in reversed-phase chromatography

Summary Equations describing multi-step gradient elution with a mobile phase of constant composition in each step were derived. These equations useful for calculating the retention volumes in both gradient HPLC and TLC were derived on the basis of the relationship between the isocratic capacity factor and the volume fraction of the organic modifier. The validity of the equations was experimentally verified in a LiChrosorbRP-18-water/methanol system for 11 methyl- and chlorobenzenes and phenols. A satisfactory agreement between the theoretical and experimental k′ values was found.

2-甲基-4-庚醇和2-甲基-4-辛醇是西印度蔗螟(Metamasiushemipterus)聚集信息素的次要组份，本文以天然产物(S)-亮氨酸为原料合成出了2-甲基-4-庚醇及2-甲基-4-辛醇的所有对映异构体，其关键步骤是由(2S)-4-甲基-1,2-戊二醇合成出(2S)和(2R)-4-甲基-1,2-环氧戊烷两种重要中间体，目标产物光学纯度可达95%以上。     

Electrochemistry of capillary systems with narrow pores. IV. Dialysis potentials

The dialysis potentials of different collodion membranes with graded pore sizes and electrochemical activities have been measured in dilute aqueous KCl solutions as functions of concentration. It is possible to predict the value of the diffusion potential within a few millivolts on the basis of electrical conductivity data obtained with the same membranes. In general, the measured values are lower than those calculated. It is assumed that this difference is caused by the membranes having a distribution of pore sizes.     

Synthesis and structural characterization of [PhE(BNMe2)2]2 (E = P or As): Six-Membered P2B4 and As2B4 Rings with Unusual Structures

The reaction of either Li₂PPh or Li₂AsPh with the diborane(4) derivative B₂(NMe₂)₂Br₂ affords the compounds [PhP(BNMe₂)₂]₂ ( 1 ) or [PhAs(BNMe₂)₂]₂ ( 2 ) in good yield. Both 1 and 2 have cyclic structures featuring non-planar P₂B₄ or As₂B₄ six-membered rings which have chair configurations. Although all four borons in each ring have planar coordination, the two phosphorus or arsenic centers have different degrees of pyramidalization. Bond distances within the rings indicate that the B? B, B? P or B? As bonds are single, whereas the exo-B? N bond lengths are consistent with significant π-bonding. The ring structures of 1 and 2 are in sharp contrast to the related boron-nitrogen species (t-BuN)₂N₄Me₄ which has a nido-N₂B₄ framework. The attempted synthesis of the nitrogen analogue of 1 or 2 by using a similar approach did not result in the isolation of [PhN(BNMe₂)₂]₂, instead the tetramino diborane(4) species [B(NMe₂)NHPh]₂ ( 3 ), which has a structure similar to other tetramine diborane(4) compounds, was isolated.     

Voltammetric Detector for Liquid Chromatography: Determination of Triclosan in Rabbit Urine and Serum

A flow-electrolytic cell containing a strand of carbon fibers has been designed and characterized for use in a voltammetric detector for high-performance liquid chromatography. The detector was used for determination of triclosan (2,4,4-trichloro-2-hydroxydiphenyl ether) in rabbit serum and urine. Analysis of rabbit serum and urine 1 day and 1 to 5 days, respectively, after ingestion of oral triclosan revealed that the concentration of triclosan was higher than for control serum and urine. The concentration reached maximum levels after 6 h and 34 h or 44 h in serum and urine, respectively. When triclosan was determined in rabbit samples with the method proposed the results obtained were comparable with those obtained by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection.     

Three novel quassinoids, javanicolides A and B, and javanicoside A, from seeds of Brucea javanica

Two novel quassinoids, javanicolides A and B, and one novel quassinoid glucoside, javanicoside A were isolated from the seeds of Brucea javanica Merr. (Simaroubaceae), along with four known quassinoids, yadanziolides A and D, and bruceins D and E, and two known quassinoid glucosides, yadanziosides D and L. Their structures were elucidated by the analysis of spectral data and chemical evidence.
