The effects of preparation method, composition, and thermal condition on formation of β‐iPP in isotactic polypropylene/ethylene–propylene rubber (iPP/EPR) blends were studied using modulated differential scanning calorimeter (MDSC), wide angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD), and phase contrast microscopy (PCM). It was found that the α‐iPP and β‐iPP can simultaneity form in the melt‐blended samples, whereas only α‐iPP exists in the solution‐blended samples. The results show that the formation of β‐iPP in the melt‐blended samples is related to the crystallization temperature and the β‐iPP generally diminishes and finally vanishes when the crystallization temperature moves far from 125 °C. The phenomena that the lower critical temperature of β‐iPP in iPP/EPR obviously increases to 114 °C and the upper critical temperature decreases to 134 °C indicate the narrowing of temperature interval, facilitating the formation of β‐iPP in iPP/EPR. Furthermore, it was found that the amount of β‐iPP in melt‐blended iPP/EPR samples is dependent on the composition and the maximum amount of β‐iPP formed when the composition of iPP/EPR blends is 85:15 in weight. The results through examining the effect of annealing for iPP/EPR samples at melt state indicate that this annealing may eliminate the susceptibility to β‐crystallization of iPP. However, only α‐iPP can be observed in solution‐blended samples subjected to annealing for different time. The PCM images demonstrate that an obvious phase‐separation happens in both melt‐blended and solution‐blended iPP/EPR samples, implying that compared with the disperse degree of EPR in iPP, the preparation method plays a dominant role in formation of β‐iPP. It is suggested that the origin of formation of β‐iPP results from the thermomechanical history of the EPR component in iPP/EPR. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. EPR spectroscopy of labeled poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) grafted on silica has been used to characterize the conformation and local dynamics of the chains. Grafted molecules of MW 2000 with grafting ratios of 0.045, 0.057, 0.126, and 0.42 molecules/nm2 were in contact with benzene. The mobility of the label was compared with that observed for solution of PEO from very diluted to highly concentrated and even bulk PEO. Thus, the concentration inside the grafted layer could be evaluated and also the thickness, which evolves rather linearly with the grafting ratio. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The distribution of the unpaired electron over the oxygen and the 24 carbon atoms in the free 2,4,6-triphenylphenoxy radical was determined by electron spin resonance spectroscopy and quantum-mechanical approximation methods. The hyperfine splitting was evaluated with the aid of the spectra of triphenylphenoxyls deuterated in some or all of the substituent phenyl groups. The results of the quantum-mechanical approximations were checked by recording the ESR spectra of triphenylphenoxyls labeled with 13C in positions 1,2,3, or 4 of the central ring. The spin density distribution permits a first discussion of the 17O-coupling constants of correspondingly labeled triphenylphenoxyl and other organic free radicals.  相似文献

Synthesis and characterization of a nitrite-bound copper(II) compound [CuL4)2(ONO)]ClO4 have been achieved (L4 = 2-(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-ylmethyl)pyridine]. The bidentate ligand L4 provides a pyridine and a pyrazole donor site; however, they are separated by a methylene spacer. The complex has been structurally characterized and it belongs to only a handful of complexes having nitrito-bound mononuclear copper(II) centre. The metal atom has a distorted square pyramidal geometry with the copper atom displaced from the equatorial plane by 0.25 Å. In MeCN solution the green complex exhibits a broad ligand-field transition at 655 nm with a shoulder at 675 nm and in dichloromethane-toluene glass (80 K) it exhibits an EPR spectral feature characteristic of the unpaired electron in the dx2y2 orbital. Variable-temperature (80–300 K) magnetic susceptibility measurements in the solid state as well as room temperature measurement in MeCN solution reveal mononuclear magnetically dilute copper(II) centre. When examined by cyclic voltammetry (MeCN solution) it displays electrochemically irreversible CuII---CuI response [cathodic peak potential, Epc (V vs saturated calomel electrode (SCE)): −0.32]. An oxidative response is observed at 1.14 V, probably due to bound-nitrite oxidation and is partially removed to generate a solvated complex at the electrode surface. The latter species gives rise to reversible CuII---CuI redox response [ ].  相似文献

In this study, electron paramagnetic resonance of γ-irradiated single crystals of N-Trifluoroacetyl-α-amino isobutyric acid (F3Ac-Aib-OH) was investigated at room temperature and analyzed for different orientations of the crystal in the magnetic field. The paramagnetic species in N-Trifluoroacetyl-α-aminoisobutyric acid was attributed to the ?F2-R radical (R= CONHC(CH3)COOH). Hyperfine coupling constants and g value were also determined. In addition, the single crystal of F3Ac-Aib-OH was UV-irradiated and paramagnetic species formed was studied at room temperature. The effects of gamma irradiation on fluoroamino acid and stability were discussed.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements were performed on poly‐ε‐caprolactone (PCL) films at different stages of the postplasma‐grafting process. PCL films prepared by solvent casting (SC) or electrospinning (ESP) yield very similar EPR spectra after Ar‐plasma treatment and subsequent exposure to air, but the EPR signal is much stronger in the PCL‐ESP films. The free radicals appear to be mainly, and possibly exclusively, oxygen centered. The radicals generated by UV irradiation in PCL‐ESP films were studied in situ with EPR, using a UV‐LED (λ = (285 ± 5) nm). Their EPR spectrum is distinctly different from the plasma‐induced signal, indicative of carbon‐centered radicals, and appears to be independent of the plasma pretreatment. UV‐induced homolytic splitting of (hydro)peroxide bonds was not observed. Both the plasma‐ and UV‐induced radicals decay at room temperature (RT), even in an inert atmosphere. This study demonstrates the potential of electrospun films and UV‐LEDs for the study of plasma‐ and UV‐generated free radicals with EPR in polyesters, and raises questions with respect to the validity of some generally accepted molecular mechanisms underpinning the postplasma grafting technique for polyesters. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The termination of model mid‐chain radicals (MCRs), which mimic radicals that occur in acrylate polymerization over a broad range of reaction conditions, has been studied by single‐pulse pulsed laser polymerization (SP‐PLP) in conjunction with electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. The model radicals were generated by initiator‐fragment addition to acrylic macromonomers that were preformed prior to the kinetic experiments, thus enabling separation of termination from the propagation reaction, for these model radicals propagate sparingly, if at all, on the timescale of SP‐PLP experiments. Termination rate coefficients of the MCRs were determined in the temperature range of 0–60°C in acetonitrile and butyl propionate solution as well as in bulk macromonomer over the range of 0–100 °C. Termination rate coefficients slightly below those of the corresponding secondary radicals were deduced, demonstrating the relatively high termination activity of this species, even when undergoing MCR–MCR termination. For chain length of 10, a reduction by a factor of 6 is observed. Unusually high activation energies were found for the termination rate coefficient in these systems, with 35 kJ mol?1 being determined for bulk macromonomer. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A Fe(III) complex with Cl counter ion based on a branched Schiff base has been synthesized and studied. The compound was produced by the reaction of the Schiff base with FeCl3 at room temperature in benzene–ethanol. The complex is symmetric, i.e., bis-chelate, with an octahedral coordination of Fe. The compound revealed phase transitions of the “solid–solid” type. The complex displayed a temperature-induced spin transition (S?=?1/2???5/2) which was detected by EPR.  相似文献

Glasses with composition xGeO2.(0.30−x)M2O.0.70B2O3 (M=Li, K) containing 2.0 mol% of V2O5 have been prepared in the range 0.00≤x≤0.15 by normal melt quenching method. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), optical transmission and absorption spectra and dc conductivity of these glasses have been studied. Spin Hamiltonian parameters (SHPs) of VO2+ ions, dipolar hyperfine coupling parameter, P, Fermi contact interaction parameter, K and molecular orbital coefficients (α2 and γ2) have been calculated. In GeO2·Li2O·B2O3 glasses there is no change in the tetragonality of the V4+O6 complex and the size of 3dxy orbit also remains unchanged with increase in GeO2 content. In GeO2·K2O·B2O3 glasses, there is an increase in the tetragonality of the V4+O6 complex and the 3dxy orbit expands with increase in GeO2 content. Values of the theoretical optical basicity, Λth, have also been reported. Optical band gap decreases with increase in GeO2 content. The dc conductivity of these glasses decreases and the activation energy increases with increase in GeO2:M2O ratio.  相似文献

Clifton, Redhead, and Butterfield have recently produced a generalization of the new non-locality proof due to Greenberger, Horne, and Zeilinger. Their proof is intended to have certain advantages over the standard Belltype arguments. One of these is that, although the proof allows for causally relevant apparatus hidden variables, it avoids the need for making certain standard locality assumptions about those parameters. On closer inspection, the part of the proof which supposedly removes the need for such assumptions is shown to rest on a fallacy. This renders the proof invalid. Two other, related difficulties are explored along the way.1. CRB actually provide two nonlocality proofs, but our concern here is with the first.2. Cf. p.173 for a precise formulation of these. (Any references in these footnotes are to [1].) Note that, due to the way CRB define the µ's, these conditions are not entirely independent.3. Cf. p.174. Note that CRB claim to derive the independence of outcomes from apparatus existents via our other assumptions without imposing any other conditions on their distributions, citing Lemma 2, which we shall object to in Sec. 4 below. This should be given a careful reading; Lemma 2 only purports to derive the statistical independence of outcomes fromlocal (i.e., nearby) apparatus hidden variables. The independence of outcomes fromdistant apparatus hidden variables is assumed, rather, in OL.4. Here, and in many places, I shall rely on [1] for the details.5. CRB have endorsed this definition of M (personal correspondence).6. More precisely, those values of do so for at least one possible quadruple of apparatus existents, and measurement results; and foruncountably many setting quadruples in (p.167).7. Given CRB's way of defining the µ's so as to include the information found in the 's, the terms in OF and most of those in OL would actually be ill-defined in most cases (for each ) inany theory. This is simply because the measuring devices cannot be set to measure in two different directions at once. However, it should be possible to remedy that situation by simply redefining µ so that it includes only information about the state of the apparatus not covered by .8. CRB endorse the first of these two suggestions (personal correspondence).9. I have omitted the arguments fromA,B,C andD. Wherever they appear without arguments they will implicitly have the three with which they were first introduced. Note that M+ should ideally be indexed by and , as there is no reason to think that all the same members of M will makeABCD = +1 for different values of and .10. Cf. note 6 above.11. Note that in light of this objection to their proof, we can see that CRB also fail to establish the link they claim exists between TF, strict correlations, and the condition they call TF.TF is the four-particle analogue of the conjunction of Shimony's outcome independence and his parameter independence (p.162).
