An analysis is carried out to investigate the stagnation-point flow and heat transfer over an exponentially shrinking sheet. Using the boundary layer approximation and a similarity transformation in exponential form, the governing mathematical equations are transformed into coupled, nonlinear ordinary differential equations which are then solved numerically by a shooting method with fourth order Runge-Kutta integration scheme. The analysis reveals that a solution exists only when the velocity ratio parameter satisfies the inequality −1.487068 ? c/a. Also, the numerical calculations exhibit the existence of dual solutions for the velocity and the temperature fields; and it is observed that their boundary layers are thinner for the first solution (in comparison with the second). Moreover, the heat transfer from the sheet increases with an increase in c/a for the first solution, while the heat transfer decreases with increasing c/a for the second solution, and ultimately heat absorption occurs.  相似文献

Acoustic characteristics of a dual Helmholtz resonator which consists of a pair of cylindrical neck and cavity connected in series (neck-cavity-neck-cavity) are established primarily in terms of a lumped-parameter theory. The results are then compared to (a) a two-dimensional analytical approach by applying a pressure/velocity matching technique for a piston-driven model; (b) a three-dimensional boundary element method for a pipe-mounted model; and (c) experiments on an impedance-tube test setup with one fabricated prototype installed in a sidebranch orientation (pipe-mounted model). Closed-form expressions have been developed in the present study for the resonance frequencies and the transmission loss of this two degree-of-freedom system based on the Newton’s second law of motion for a lumped system. The resonance frequencies and the transmission loss from this theory agree well with the analytical results, while showing a reasonable comparison with both the numerical predictions and the measurements.  相似文献

We report a high-power dual-wavelength Yb-doped double-clad fiber laser based on a few-mode fiber Bragg grating (FMFBG). The FMFBG was fabricated by using a piece of fiber in a length of fiber with a cutoff wavelength of 1225 nm, which supported two modes at 1060 nm. The laser was pumped by a fiber pigtailed laser diode working at 915 nm. Single-wavelength, dual-wavelength and triple-wavelength laser oscillations were observed when the fiber laser operated under different low pump powers. However, stable dual-wavelength operation was achieved at higher pump power of 3.9 W and remained unchanged until the output power reached 5.67 W under the maximum available pump power of 10.7 W. The laser wavelengths were centered at 1059.12 and 1060.80 nm with a full-width at half-maximum of 37 and 43 pm, respectively. The signal-to-noise-ratio was greater than 50 dB and the beam quality factor (M2) was about 1.9.  相似文献

In this Letter, dual synchronization in modulated time delay system using delay feedback controller is proposed. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, we suggest a general method to achieve the dual-anticipating, dual, dual-lag synchronization of time-delayed chaotic systems and we find both its existing and sufficient stability conditions. Numerically it is shown that the dual synchronization is also possible when driving system contain two completely different systems. Effect of parameter mismatch on dual synchronization is also discussed. As an example, numerical simulations for the Mackey-Glass and Ikeda systems are conducted, which is in good agreement with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

An analysis is carried out to study the steady two-dimensional stagnation-point flow and heat transfer from a warm, laminar liquid flow to a melting stretching/shrinking sheet. The governing partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations by similarity transformation, before being solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method. Results for the skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number, velocity profiles as well as temperature profiles are presented for different values of the governing parameters. Effects of the melting parameter, stretching/shrinking parameter and Prandtl number on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are thoroughly examined. Different from a stretching sheet, it is found that the solutions for a shrinking sheet are non-unique.  相似文献

Free probabilistic considerations of type B first appeared in the paper of Biane, Goodman and Nica [P. Biane, F. Goodman, A. Nica, Non-crossing cumulants of type B, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 355 (2003) 2263-2303]. Recently, connections between type B and infinitesimal free probability were put into evidence by Belinschi and Shlyakhtenko [S.T. Belinschi, D. Shlyakhtenko, Free probability of type B: Analytic aspects and applications, preprint, 2009, available online at www.arxiv.org under reference arXiv:0903.2721]. The interplay between “type B” and “infinitesimal” is also the object of the present paper. We study infinitesimal freeness for a family of unital subalgebras A1,…,Ak in an infinitesimal noncommutative probability space (A,φ,φ) and we introduce a concept of infinitesimal non-crossing cumulant functionals for (A,φ,φ), obtained by taking a formal derivative in the formula for usual non-crossing cumulants. We prove that the infinitesimal freeness of A1,…,Ak is equivalent to a vanishing condition for mixed cumulants; this gives the infinitesimal counterpart for a theorem of Speicher from “usual” free probability. We show that the lattices NC(B)(n) of non-crossing partitions of type B appear in the combinatorial study of (A,φ,φ), in the formulas for infinitesimal cumulants and when describing alternating products of infinitesimally free random variables. As an application of alternating free products, we observe the infinitesimal analogue for the well-known fact that freeness is preserved under compression with a free projection. As another application, we observe the infinitesimal analogue for a well-known procedure used to construct free families of free Poisson elements. Finally, we discuss situations when the freeness of A1,…,Ak in (A,φ) can be naturally upgraded to infinitesimal freeness in (A,φ,φ), for a suitable choice of a “companion functional” .  相似文献

Let L be the divergence form elliptic operator with complex bounded measurable coefficients, ω the positive concave function on (0,∞) of strictly critical lower type pω∈(0,1] and ρ(t)=t−1/ω−1(t−1) for t∈(0,∞). In this paper, the authors study the Orlicz-Hardy space Hω,L(Rn) and its dual space BMOρ,L*(Rn), where L* denotes the adjoint operator of L in L2(Rn). Several characterizations of Hω,L(Rn), including the molecular characterization, the Lusin-area function characterization and the maximal function characterization, are established. The ρ-Carleson measure characterization and the John-Nirenberg inequality for the space BMOρ,L(Rn) are also given. As applications, the authors show that the Riesz transform ∇L−1/2 and the Littlewood-Paley g-function gL map Hω,L(Rn) continuously into L(ω). The authors further show that the Riesz transform ∇L−1/2 maps Hω,L(Rn) into the classical Orlicz-Hardy space Hω(Rn) for and the corresponding fractional integral Lγ for certain γ>0 maps Hω,L(Rn) continuously into , where is determined by ω and γ, and satisfies the same property as ω. All these results are new even when ω(t)=tp for all t∈(0,∞) and p∈(0,1).  相似文献

In this work, we study the fundamental group of dual graph of a planar graph. Moreover, we show that a planar graph G has no cut vertex if and only if N(Π(D(G))) = N(Π(D(G − v))) − 1 for any v ∈ V(G). Some applications relevant to quantum space time are indicated. Our results generalize and extend results in paper [1] [S.I. Nada, E.H. Hamouda, Fundamental group of dual graphs and applications to quantum space time, Chaos Soliton Fractals 42 (2009) 500-503].  相似文献

Dual feasible functions are used to get valid inequalities and lower bounds for integer linear problems. In this paper, we provide a simpler proof for maximality, and we describe new results concerning the extremality of functions from the literature. We discuss solvability for the semilinear equation of the vibrating string xtt(t,y)−Δx(t,y)+f(t,y,x(t,y))=0 in a bounded domain, and certain type of nonlinearity on the boundary.
