The waves induced by a moving dipole in a twofluid system are analytically and experimentally investigated.The velocity potential of a dipole moving horizontally in the lower layer of a two-layer fluid with finite depth is derived by superposing Green‘s functions of sources (or sinks). The far-field waves are studied by using the method of stationary phase. The effects of two resulting modes, i.e. the surfaceand internal-wave modes, on both the surface divergence field and the interfacial elevation are analyzed. A laboratory study on the internal waves generated by a moving sphere in a two-layer fluid is conducted in a towing tank under the same conditions as in the theoretical approach. The qualitative consistency between the present theory and the laboratory study is examined and confirmed. 相似文献

Motions of a suspension bridge immersed in turbulent wind flows, including both mean and stochastic, can under certain conditions lead to the degradation of the structure׳s torsional stiffness and ensuing aerodynamic torsional divergence (ATD). It is the incompressibility of the main cables that determines their effectiveness as supporting members be limited in a tension state, and dropping out of either one cable from a tension state could result in the vanish of the torsional stiffness contributed by the whole cable system. Although the physical conception is quite explicit, evaluation of the critical threshold of ATD of a suspension bridge, when experiencing stochastic aerodynamic responses, can be complicated by the deformations of the towers, the lateral oscillations of the deck and cables, and other high-order modes participating in the vibration. In view of this, a criterion based on the tracking of the length of the main cables is presented in this study. It is shown that, with the numerical example, the advent of ATD, the degradation of the system׳s stiffness, as well as some striking post-ATD behaviors, can be well explained with the proposed model by tracking the cable lengths. 相似文献

The Hamiltonian dynamics is adopted to solve the eigenvalue problem for transverse vibrations of axially moving strings. With
the explicit Hamiltonian function the canonical equation of the free vibration is derived. Non-singular modal functions are
obtained through a linear, symplectic eigenvalue analysis, and the symplectic-type orthogonality conditions of modes are derived.
Stability of the transverse motion is examined by means of analyzing the eigenvalues and their bifurcation, especially for
strings transporting with the critical speed. It is pointed out that the motion of the string does not possess divergence
instability at the critical speed due to the weak interaction between eigenvalue pairs. The expansion theorem is applied with
the non-singular modal functions to solve the displacement response to free and forced vibrations. It is demonstrated that
the modal functions can be used as the base functions for solving linear and nonlinear vibration problems.

When an external, time‐dependent field interacts with a molecular system various phenomena may take place. However, concentrating on a region close enough to a point of conical intersection, we find that this external field builds up a field similar to an electromagnetic field formed on the one hand by Field‐Dressed nonadiabatic coupling terms which are reminiscent of the Maxwell–Lorentz Vector potentials, and on the other hand via a scalar potential formed by the dipole‐interaction with an external field. In this article, we show that this new field, to be termed Molecular Field, is characterized by several spatial and space‐time Field‐Dressed Curl equations and one, single, space‐time Field‐Dressed Divergence equation. These equations are then shown to yield, just as in the general theory of electromagnetism, the corresponding Field‐Dressed Wave Equations. This achievement could be materialized employing the (1,2) antisymmetric matrix elements of any of the 2×2 dimensional Field‐Dressed nonadiabatic coupling matrices. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献
