We consider semilinear Dirichlet problems with an unbounded and indefinite potential and with a Carathéodory reaction. We assume that asymptotically at infinity the problem exhibits double resonance. Using variational methods, together with Morse theory and flow invariance arguments, we prove multiplicity theorems producing three, five, six or seven nontrivial smooth solutions. We study some analytical properties of the solutions of the non-perturbative renormalization group flow equations for a scalar field theory with Z2 symmetry in the ordered phase, i.e. at temperatures below the critical temperature. The study is made in the framework of the local potential approximation. We show that the required physical discontinuity of the magnetic susceptibility χ(M) at MM0 (M0 spontaneous magnetization) is reproduced only if the cut-off function which separates high and low energy modes satisfies to some restrictive explicit mathematical conditions; we stress that these conditions are not satisfied by a sharp cut-off in dimensions of space d<4.By generalizing a method proposed earlier by Bonanno and Lacagnina [Nucl. Phys. B 693 (2004) 36] to any kind of cut-off we propose to solve numerically the renormalization group flow equations for the threshold functions rather than for the local potential. It yields an algorithm sufficiently robust and precise to extract universal as well as non-universal quantities from numerical experiments at any temperature, in particular at sub-critical temperatures in the ordered phase. Numerical results obtained for the φ4 potential with three different cut-off functions are reported and compared. The data confirm our theoretical predictions concerning the analytical behavior of χ(M) at MM0.Fixed point solutions of the adimensioned renormalization group flow equations are also obtained in the same vein, that is by solving the fixed points equations and the associated eigenvalue problem for the threshold functions rather than for the potential. We report high precision data for the odd and even spectra of critical exponents for different cut-offs obtained in this way.  相似文献

The family of network optimization problems includes the following prototype models: assignment, critical path, max flow, shortest path, and transportation. Although it is long known that these problems can be modeled as linear programs (LP), this is generally not done. Due to the relative inefficiency and complexity of the simplex methods (primal, dual, and other variations) for network models, these problems are usually treated by one of over 100 specialized algorithms. This leads to several difficulties. The solution algorithms are not unified and each algorithm uses a different strategy to exploit the special structure of a specific problem. Furthermore, small variations in the problem, such as the introduction of side constraints, destroys the special structure and requires modifying andjor restarting the algorithm. Also, these algorithms obtain solution efficiency at the expense of managerial insight, as the final solutions from these algorithms do not have sufficient information to perform postoptimality analysis.

Another approach is to adapt the simplex to network optimization problems through network simplex. This provides unification of the various problems but maintains all the inefficiencies of simplex, as well as, most of the network inflexibility to handle changes such as side constraints. Even ordinary sensitivity analysis (OSA), long available in the tabular simplex, has been only recently transferred to network simplex.

This paper provides a single unified algorithm for all five network models. The proposed solution algorithm is a variant of the self-dual simplex with a warm start. This algorithm makes available the full power of LP perturbation analysis (PA) extended to handle optimal degeneracy. In contrast to OSA, the proposed PA provides ranges for which the current optimal strategy remains optimal, for simultaneous dependent or independent changes from the nominal values in costs, arc capacities, or suppliesJdemands. The proposed solution algorithm also facilitates incorporation of network structural changes and side constraints. It has the advantage of being computationally practical, easy for managers to understand and use, and provides useful PA information in all cases. Computer implementation issues are discussed and illustrative numerical examples are provided in the Appendix  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to show how one can extend some results on disorder relevance obtained for the random pinning model with i.i.d disorder to the model with finite range correlated disorder. In a previous work, the annealed critical curve of the latter model was computed, and equality of quenched and annealed critical points, as well as exponents, was proved under some conditions on the return exponent of the interarrival times. Here we complete this work by looking at the disorder relevant regime, where annealed and quenched critical points differ. All these results show that the Harris criterion, which was proved to be correct in the i.i.d case, remains valid in our setup. We strongly use Markov renewal constructions that were introduced in the solving of the annealed model.  相似文献

The 3D approach was employed for investigations of the symmetric local stability loss of the circular hollow cylinder made from the viscoelastic composite materials. This approach is based on investigations of the development of the initial rotationally symmetric infinitesimal local imperfections of the circular hollow cylinder within the scope of 3D geometrically nonlinear field equations of the theory of viscoelasticity for anisotropic bodies. The numerical results of the critical force and critical time are presented and discussed. For comparison and estimation of the accuracy of the results given by the 3D approach, the same problem is also solved by using various approximate shell theories. The viscoelasticity properties of the plate material are described by the fractional–exponential operator. The numerical results and their discussion are presented for the case where the cylinder is made of a uni-directional fibrous viscoelastic composite material. In particular, it is established that the difference between the critical times obtained by employing 3D and third order refined shell theories becomes more non-negligible if the values of the external compressive force are close to the critical compressive force which is obtained at t = ∞ (t denotes a time).  相似文献
