A speciality theorem for curves in P<Superscript>5</Superscript>

Let be an integral projective curve. One defines the speciality index e(C) of C as the maximal integer t such that , where ω _C denotes the dualizing sheaf of . Extending a classical result of Halphen concerning the speciality of a space curve, in the present paper we prove that if is an integral degree d curve not contained in any surface of degree  < s, in any threefold of degree  < t, and in any fourfold of degree  < u, and if , then Moreover equality holds if and only if C is a complete intersection of hypersurfaces of degrees u, , and . We give also some partial results in the general case , .      

Equisingularity classes of birational projections of normal singularities to a plane

Given a birational normal extension O of a two-dimensional local regular ring (R,m), we describe all the equisingularity types of the complete m-primary ideals J in R whose blowing-up X=BlJ(R) has some point Q whose local ring OX,Q is analytically isomorphic to O.     

Precise asymptotics in the deviation probability series of self-normalized sums

Let X,X₁,X₂,… be a sequence of nondegenerate i.i.d. random variables with zero means. Set Sn=X₁+?+Xn and . In the present paper we examine the precise asymptotic behavior for the general deviation probabilities of self-normalized sums, Sn/Wn. For positive functions g(x), ?(x), α(x) and κ(x), we obtain the precise asymptotics for the following deviation probabilities of self-normalized sums:

     

Boundary interpolation in the ball

We solve a boundary interpolation problem in the reproducing kernel Hilbert space of functions analytic in the unit ball of with reproducing kernel 1/(1−∑₁^Nz_kw_k^*). We introduce the notion of Brune factor (or Blaschke–Potapov factor of the third kind) in this setting.     

Analytic non-integrable Hamiltonian systems and irregular singularity

We study a C ^∞-Liouville-integrable and analytic non-integrable Hamiltonian system. We will show that an irregular singular character plays a crucial role in the analytic non-integrability of the system. Maximum Lebesgue extension of monotone convex functions

Given a monotone convex function on the space of essentially bounded random variables with the Lebesgue property (order continuity), we consider its extension preserving the Lebesgue property to as big solid vector space of random variables as possible. We show that there exists a maximum such extension, with explicit construction, where the maximum domain of extension is obtained as a (possibly proper) subspace of a natural Orlicz-type space, characterized by a certain uniform integrability property. As an application, we provide a characterization of the Lebesgue property of monotone convex function on arbitrary solid spaces of random variables in terms of uniform integrability and a “nice” dual representation of the function.
