This paper deals with the inverse problem of the calculus of variations for systems of second-order ordinary differential equations. The case of the problem which Douglas, in his classification of pairs of such equations, called the separated case is generalized to arbitrary dimension. After identifying the conditions which should specify such a case for n equations in a coordinate-free way, two proofs of its variationality are presented. The first one follows the line of approach introduced by some of the authors in previous work, and is close in spirit, though being coordinate independent, to the Riquier analysis applied by Douglas for n = 2. The second proof is more direct and leads to the discovery that belonging to the separated case has an intrinsic meaning for the given second-order differential equations: the system is separable in the sense that it can be decoupled into n pairs of first-order equations.  相似文献

A method developed recently for obtaining indefinite integrals of functions obeying inhomogeneous second-order linear differential equations has been applied to obtain integrals with respect to the modulus of the complete elliptic integral of the third kind. A formula is derived which gives an integral involving the complete integral of the third kind for every known integral for the complete elliptic integral of the second kind. The formula requires only differentiation and can therefore be applied for any such integral, and it is applied here to almost all such integrals given in the literature. Some additional integrals are derived using the recurrence relations for the complete elliptic integrals. This gives a total of 27 integrals for the complete integral of the third kind, including the single integral given in the literature. Some typographical errors in a previous related paper are corrected.  相似文献

We show that many infinite classes of permutations over finite fields can be constructed via translators with a large choice of parameters. We first characterize some functions having linear translators, based on which several families of permutations are then derived. Extending the results of [9], we give in several cases the compositional inverse of these permutations. The connection with complete permutations is also utilized to provide further infinite classes of permutations. Moreover, we propose new tools to study permutations of the form xx+(xpmx+δ)s and a few infinite classes of permutations of this form are proposed.  相似文献

Incomplete data in soft sets lead to uncertainty and inaccuracy in representing and handling information. This paper introduces notions of complete distance between two objects and relative dominance degree between two parameters. Based on both the notions, an object-parameter method is proposed to predict unknown data in incomplete fuzzy soft sets. The proposal makes full use of known data, including the information from the relationship between known values of all objects on a certain parameter and the information from the relationship between known values of an object on all parameters. The effectiveness of the proposal is verified by many examples under the compared investigation of classical predicted methods.  相似文献

In this article special (possibly constrained) problems of linear and nonlinear complex approximation are studied with respect to the existence and uniqueness of solutions and the convergence of the approximation errors, where the errors are measured by an arbitrary L p and l p norm respectively. The problems arise in connection with the frequency and magnitude response approximation at the design of nonrecursive digital filters in the frequency domain. Two main results of the article concern the completeness of the functions exp ( m ik y ), k = 0,1,2,… , with respect to a certain space of continuous functions. These results imply that, under usual assumptions and with increasing number of approximating functions exp ( m ik y ), the errors in the frequency and magnitude response approximation problems converge to zero when the design region is not the total interval [0, ~ ] (in case of real coefficients) and not [ m ~ , ~ ] (in case of complex coefficients) which is given for the majority of filter design problems, but that the frequency response errors may not converge to zero when the design region equals [0, ~ ] or [ m ~ , ~ ] respectively.  相似文献

We study the lattice ?(RSn) of subvarieties of the variety of semigroups generated by completely 0-simple semigroups over groups with exponent dividing n, with a particular focus on the lattice ??(RSn) consisting of those varieties that are generated by completely 0-simple semigroups. The sublattice of ??(RSn) consisting of the aperiodic varieties is described and several endomorphisms of ?(RSn) considered. The complete congruence on ??(RSn) that relates varieties containing the same aperiodic completely 0-simple semigroups is considered in some detail.  相似文献

A general approach is developed for integrating an invertible dynamical system defined by the composition of two involutions, i.e., a nonlinear one which is a standard Cremona transformation, and a linear one. By the Noether theorem, the integration of these systems is the foundation for integrating a broad class of Cremona dynamical systems. We obtain a functional equation for invariant homogeneous polynomials and sufficient conditions for the algebraic integrability of the systems under consideration. It is proved that Siegel's linearization theorem is applicable if the eigenvalues of the map at a fixed point are algebraic numbers.  相似文献
