Failure loads of spot weld specimens are investigated under impact combined loading conditions. A set of test fixtures was
designed and used to obtain failure loads of mild steel spot weld specimens under combined opening and shear loading conditions.
Three different impact speeds were applied to examine the effects of separation speed on failure loads. Micrographs of the
cross-sections of failed spot welds were obtained to understand the failure processes in mild steel specimens under different
impact combined loads. The experimental results indicate that the failure mechanisms of spot welds are very similar for mild
steel specimens at various impact speeds. These micrographs show that the sheet thickness can affect the failure mechanisms.
For 1.0 mm specimens, the failure occurs near the base metal in a necking/shear failure mode. For 1.5 mm specimens, the failure
occurs near the heat-affected zone in a shear failure mode. Based on the experimental results, the effects of the inertia
force, the separation speed, and the loading angle on the failure loads of spot welds are investigated. Failure criteria are
proposed to characterize the failure loads of spot welds under impact combined opening and shear loads for engineering applications.
The failure load can be expressed as a function of the tensile strength of the base metal, the nugget size, the sheet thickness,
the maximum separation speed, the loading angle, and empirical coefficients for a given welding schedule. 相似文献

The behavior of a pre-existing, dynamically loaded, interfacial crack kinking away from the interface separating two materials
was experimentally investigated under dynamic loading conditions. Dynamic fracture experiments were performed on pre-cracked
bimaterial panels of PMMA bonded with Homalite-100 impact loaded using a high-speed gas gun. By varying the location of impact,
a large range of mixed mode loading at the crack tip was produced. Information about the stress state surrounding the crack
tip was obtained through use of the lateral shearing interferometer of coherent gradient sensing in conjunction with high-speed
photography. The high-speed interferogram corresponding, to the time of crack initiation was analyzed in each case to find
the preinitiation mode mixity at the crack tip. Measurement of both the local initiation mode mixity and the crack kink angle
allows for possible extension of existing quasi-static interface crack kinking criteria, such as maximum opening stress or
maximum energy release rate, to the case of dynamic loading. It was found that for bimaterial systems with small material
property mismatch, such as the PMMA/Homalite system, the maximum opening stress criterion accurately predicts the relation
between crack tip mode mixity and resulting kink angle for small initial crack kinking speeds. 相似文献

A crack growth criterion is derived based on the Griffith energy concept and the cohesive zone model for modelling fracture in elastic–plastic ductile materials. The criterion is implemented in the finite element context by a virtual crack extension technique. An automatic modelling of the ductile fracture process is realised by combining a local remeshing procedure and the criterion. Following the study of Gologanu et al. (1997) which has extended the well-known approach of Gurson (1975), we propose approximate yield criteria for anisotropic plastic voided metals containing non spherical cavities. The plastic anisotropy of the matrix is described by means of Hill's quadratic criterion. The procedure to establish the closed form expression of approximate macroscopic criteria, in which void shape and plastic anisotropic effects are included, is detailed. The new criteria allow us to recover existing results in the cases of spherical and cylindrical voids in an Hill type plastic matrix. Moreover, they agree with previous criteria for non spherical voids in an isotropic plastic matrix. Finally, for validation purposes, we provide, in the general case of non spherical cavities in the anisotropic matrix, a comparison with the numerical exact two field criteria. 从理论上对由系统锚杆加固的正交各向异性岩体,取出包含锚杆的表征单元.根据“等效材料”的概念,在原岩体的本构关系和破坏准则中计人锚杆刚度和强度的“贡献”,从而建立了相应锚固岩体的木构关系和破坏准则.然后列举算例,考察了表征单元的应力-应变关系和破坏强度随锚杆安置角度变化的各向异性表现.最后将计算与一个简单试验的结果作了对比,看到二者的吻合程度较好,因而初步地验证了所提力学模型的可靠性. 相似文献
