The use of sol-gel to fabricate silica-on-silicon waveguides, and particularly erbium-doped waveguide amplifiers, is reviewed. In particular, efforts to use sol-gel to improve molecular homogeneity in heavily Er-doped silica-based films is discussed. A variety of material studies carried out to investigate the gain limitations found in these materials is then presented. These include x-ray diffraction, ellipsometry and Rutherford backscattering. Excess heat treatment is used to force crystallisation of the films, and analysis of the resulting structure is used to infer properties of the glass before the additional heating. The use of erbium alkoxide precursors is shown to alter the erbium environment in the final glass, in comparison to the use of inorganic erbium salts. 相似文献

Carbon-based nanomaterials are gaining more and more interest because of their wide range of applications. Carbon dots (CDs) have shown exclusive interest due to unique and novel physicochemical, optical, electrical, and biological properties. Since their discovery, CDs became a promising material for wide range of research applications from energy to biomedical and tissue engineering applications. At same time several new methods have been developed for the synthesis of CDs. Compared to many of these methods, the sonochemical preparation is a green method with advantages such as facile, mild experimental conditions, green energy sources, and feasibility to formulate CDs and doped CDs with controlled physicochemical properties and lower toxicity. In the last five years, the sonochemically synthesized CDs were extensively studied in a wide range of applications. In this review, we discussed the sonochemical assisted synthesis of CDs, doped CDs and their nanocomposites. In addition to the synthetic route, we will discuss the effect of various experimental parameters on the physicochemical properties of CDs; and their applications in different research areas such as bioimaging, drug delivery, catalysis, antibacterial, polymerization, neural tissue engineering, dye absorption, ointments, electronic devices, lithium ion batteries, and supercapacitors. An efficient synthesis of N-Boc-tubuphenylalanine benzyl ester (N-Boc-Tup-OBn, 1a) and N-Boc-epi-tubuphenylalanine benzyl ester (N-Boc-epi-Tup-OBn, 1b) is reported herein. Regioselective aziridine 4 ring opening with carbon nucleophiles followed by hydroboration of 1,1-substituted aminoalkene 3 using 9-BBN and subsequent oxidation in an alkaline medium are used as the key steps to provide N-tosyl 1,4-aminoalcohols. The 1,4-aminoalcohols are successfully transformed into the desired products with an overall yield of 23% for 1a and 11% for 1b over 8 consecutive steps separately. 相似文献

Anisotropic organic molecular construction and packing are crucial for the optoelectronic properties of organic crystals. Two‐dimensional (2D) organic crystals with regular morphology and good photon confinement are potentially suitable for a chip‐scale planar photonics system. Herein, through the bottom‐up process, 2D halogen‐bonded DPEpe‐F4DIB cocrystals were fabricated that exhibit an asymmetric optical waveguide with the optical‐loss coefficients of RBackward=0.0346 dB μm?1 and RForward=0.0894 dB μm?1 along the [010] crystal direction, which can be attributed to the unidirectional total internal reflection caused by the anisotropic molecular packing mode. Based on this crystal direction‐oriented asymmetric photon transport, these as‐prepared 2D cocrystals have been demonstrated as a microscale optical logic gate with multiple input/out channels, which will offer potential applications as the 2D optical component for the integrated organic photonics. 相似文献

利用电纺丝法制备了超细聚 β 羟基丁酸戊酸酯 (PHBV)纤维 ,通过扫描显微镜 (SEM)、差热分析(DSC)、宽角X射线衍射和偏振红外吸收光谱对产品进行了结构与形态的表征 .研究了纺丝过程中溶液浓度、电压和接收距离 3个参数对纤维形态的影响 .结果表明 ,溶液浓度是决定性的 ,只有高于一个定值才能获得单一的纤维产品 .与流延成型的PHBV相比 ,电纺丝具有较高的取向度和结晶度 .原因可能是 ,电场力下喷丝震荡过程中带来的拉伸作用从而引起分子链的规整排列 相似文献

Random lasers hold the potential for cheap, coherent light sources that can be miniaturized and molded into any shape with several other added benefits such as speckle‐free imaging; however, they require improvements specifically in terms of efficiency. This paper details for the first time a strategy for increasing the efficiency of a random laser that consists in using smaller particles, trapped between large particles to serve as absorption and gain centers whereas the large particles control mainly the light diffusion into the sample. Measurements of backscattering cone, sample absorption, reflection, and laser emission are used to determine the samples' transport mean free path, fill fractions, laser efficiency, and the average photon path lengths inside the scattering medium for backscattered pump photons. A record slope efficiency of 50% is reached by optimizing pump photon diffusion and absorption in a powder pellet composed by a polydispersed particle size distribution (smaller particles between bigger ones) from a grinded and sieved 1.33 mol% yttrium vanadate doped with neodymium crystal with mean particle size of 54 µ m. 相似文献
