A general model of analog microwave photonic links employing cascaded amplitude and phase external modulation is theoretically derived. Chromatic dispersion is also included in the model showing a different dispersion induced attenuation response in comparison to pure phase or amplitude modulation. Thus, hybrid modulation can be used to increase the bandwidth of radio over fiber links without the need of single-sideband modulation or dispersion compensation. Experimental results agreeing with the derived theory are also provided. 相似文献

Silicon nanoparticles formed using low energy (<50 keV) silver ion implantation in crystalline Si exhibit broad band light emission from ultraviolet (UV) to green. The formation of nanoparticles is confirmed using high resolution electron microscopy (HRTEM) and the resulting microscopy is used to obtain the size distribution of Si nanoparticles. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra were observed in the range of the UV to the green. The origin of emission is most likely from highly localized defects at the Si/SiO2 which is further confirmed from Photoluminescence Excitation (PLE) and effective mass theory estimation. 相似文献

Dendrimers are having novel three dimensional, synthetic hyperbranched, nano-polymeric structure. Among all of the dendrimers, Poly-amidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer are used enormously applying materials in supramolecular chemistry. This review described the structure, characteristic, synthesis, toxicity, and surface modification of PAMAM dendrimer. Various strategies in supramolecular chemistry of PAMAM for synthesizing it at commercial and laboratory scales along with their limitations and applications has also discussed. When compared to other nano polymers, the characteristics of supramolecular PAMAM dendrimers in nanopolymer science has shown significant achievement in transporting drugs for molecular targeted therapy, particularly in host–guest reaction. It also finds its applications in gene transfer devices and imaging of biological systems with minimum cytotoxicity. From that viewpoint, this review has elaborated the structural and safety aspect of PAMAM for targeted drug delivery with pharmaceuticals in addition to the biomedical application. 相似文献

We numerically characterize a novel type of a photonic crystal waveguide, which consists of several rows of periodically arranged dielectric cylinders. In such a nanopillar photonic crystal waveguide, light confinement is due to the total internal reflection. A nanopillar waveguide is a multimode waveguide, where the number of modes is equal to the number of rows building the waveguide. The strong coupling between individual waveguides leads to the proposal of an ultrashort directional coupler based on nanopillar waveguides. We present a systematic analysis of the dispersion and transmission efficiency of nanopillar photonic crystal waveguides and directional couplers. Plane wave expansion and finite difference time domain methods were used to characterize numerically nanopillar photonic crystal structures both in two- and three-dimensional spaces. 相似文献

This review provides a brief introduction to the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique and to the utilization of ultrathin films in the fields of electronics and optics. The electrical and nonlinear optical properties of the Langmuir-Blodgett monolayer and multilayers of organoruthenium complexes, ferrocene derivatives, metal(4,5-dimercapto-1, 3-dithiol-2-dithiolene)2 complexes, metallophthalocyanines, metalloporphyrins, metal(dibenzotetra-aza[14]annulene)s and siloxane polymers are presented. We present a non-scanning approach for real-time optical coherence tomography (OCT). Our approach is based on an off-axis interferometer that laterally projects the time-of-flight or depth information of the sample onto an image sensor. To facilitate the use of an off-axis interferometer in OCT, an angular-dispersion imaging method has been developed. Theoretical analysis and experimental results are presented to demonstrate that this method is capable of demodulating the interferogram and thus permits a direct inspection of the depth-resolved image. Any kind of device or machine requires a substrate, energy, and information signals. If we wish to operate at the nanometer scale, we must use molecules as substrates. Energy- and signal-processing at a molecular level relies on cause/effect relationships between the input supplied and the kind of process obtained. We have classified energy- and signal-processing at the molecular level according to the nature of the input (electronic, photonic, or chemical) and the nature of the obtained effect (electronic, photonic, or chemical process that follows). By coupling the three kinds of inputs with the three types of resulting processes, nine types of molecular-based processes (electronic, photonic, chemionic, electrophotonic, electrochemionic, photoelectronic, photochemionic, chemiophotonic, and chemioelectronic) can be identified. Self-assembled Supramolecular Artificial Transmembrane Ion Channels: Recent Progress and Application
Natural protein channels have evolved with fantastic spatial structures, which play pivotal physiological functions in all living systems. Learning from nature, chemical scientists have developed a myriad of artificial transmembrane ion channels by using various chemical strategies, among which the non-covalent supramolecular ion channels exhibit remarkable advantages over other forms(e.g., single-molecule ion channel), which exhibited facile preparation methods, easier structural modification and functionalization. In this review, we have systematically summarized the recent progress of supramolecular self-assembled artificial transmembrane ion channels, which were classified by different self-assembly mechanisms, such as hydrogen bonds, π-π interactions, etc. Detailed preparation process and self-assembly strategies of the supramolecular ion channels have been described. Moreover, potential biomedical applications of the supramolecular ion channels have also been carefully discussed in this review. Finally, future opportunities and challenges facing this field were also elaborately discussed. It is anticipated that this review could provide a panoramic sketch and future directions towards the construction of novel artificial ion channels with novel functions and biomedical applications. 相似文献
