This paper discusses the importance of realistic implementation of the physical boundary conditions into computational domain for the simulation of the oscillatory turbulent boundary layer flow over smooth and rough flat beds. A mathematical model composed of the Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes equation, turbulent kinetic energy (k) and dissipation rate of the turbulent kinetic energy (ε) has been developed. Control‐volume approach is used to discretize the governing equations to facilitate the numerical solution. Non‐slip condition is imposed on the bottom surface, and irrotational main flow properties are applied to the upper boundary. The turbulent kinetic energy is zero at the bottom, whereas the dissipation rate is approaching to a constant value, which is proportional to the kinematic viscosity times the second derivative of the turbulent kinetic energy. The output of the model is compared with the available experimental studies conducted in oscillatory tunnels and wave flume. It is observed that the irrotational flow assumption at the upper boundary is not realistic in case of water tunnels. Therefore, new upper boundary conditions are proposed for oscillatory tunnels. The data of wave flume show good agreement with the proposed numerical model. Additionally, several factors such as grid aspect ratio, staggered grid arrangement, time‐marching scheme and convergence criteria that are important to obtain a robust, realistic and stable code are discussed. In recent years there has been an increasing interest in the control of boundary-layer transition through the use of wall suction. In the current work suction is provided through one or more suction panels situated close to the leading edge of a plate. Experiments show that boundary-layer pressure fluctuation measurements can be used to identify the position of transition. Transition can be maintained at a desired location with minimum power consumption by employing an automatic adaptive feedback control loop which regulates the suction flow rates of two independent suction panels. This can be expressed as a constrained optimization problem. To allow the suction flow rates to be updated, a modified least mean squares algorithm is used within the control loop. Experimental measurements show that the control algorithm allows fast and stable convergence towards the optimum suction distribution for a double suction panel configuration. Numerical simulations have also been performed. The two-dimensional boundary layer was calculated allowing the viscous boundary layer to interact with the inviscid outer flow. Following linear stability theory the spatial growth rates are calculated by solving an Orr-Sommerfeld type eigenvalue problem, with the streamwise location of transition predicted via thee N -method. Applying the same optimization strategy as in the experiments, good qualitative agreement between computations and experiments was found. The optimization algorithm has been applied to computer models where the relation between suction flow rates and transition location is described by an empirical analytical function. 为了研究集束弹药自毁装置的安全性与可靠性,分析和评价自毁装置设计,对自毁装置进行了理论抽象,建立了自毁装置安全性失效模型; 引入信息论方法,建立了抽象自毁装置顺序控制起爆信息输出量和顺序时间窗控制起爆信息输出量模型; 对典型的M85子弹药引信、XM1161引信、M230SD引信安全性及可靠性进行了分析。理论分析表明,M230SD引信安全性及可靠性优于XM1161引信、M85子弹药引信,与实验结果一致。

Passive control of structural vibrations has received in recent years a great attention from researchers concerned with vibration control. Several types of devices have been proposed in order to reduce the dynamic responses of different kinds of structural systems. Among them, the Tuned Liquid Column Damper (TLCD) proved to be very effective in reducing vibration of structures. Since the increasing use of TLCDs in practical realizations, this paper aims at developing an approximate formulation, by means of a statistical linearization technique, able to estimate the parameters of a structure equipped with a TLCD subjected to random loads for pre-design purposes. Moreover, it is shown that results obtained via Monte Carlo approach on the non-linear system are in good agreement with those obtained by means of the proposed formulation.  相似文献

Reliability of first-passage type for wideband noise-excited viscoelastic systems and the quasi-optimal bounded control strategy for maximizing system reliability are investigated. The viscoelastic term is approximately replaced by equivalent damping and stiffness separately. By using the stochastic averaging method based on the generalized harmonic functions, the averaged Itô stochastic differential equation is obtained for the system amplitude. The associated backward Kolmogorov equation is derived and solved to obtain the system reliability. By applying the dynamic programming principle to the averaged system, the quasi-optimal bounded control is devised by maximizing system reliability. The application of the proposed analytical procedures and the effectiveness of the control strategy are illustrated through one example.  相似文献

In the present paper, the commercial CFD code “Fluent” was employed to perform 2-D simulations of an entire process that included the flow around a fixed circular cylinder, the oscillating cylinder (vortex-induced vibration, VIV) and the oscillating cylinder subjected to shape control by a traveling wave wall (TWW) method. The study mainly focused on using the TWW control method to suppress the VIV of an elastically supported circular cylinder with two degrees of freedom at a low Reynolds number of 200. The cross flow (CF) and the inline flow (IL) displacements, the centroid motion trajectories and the lift and drag forces of the cylinder that changed with the frequency ratios were analyzed in detail. The results indicate that a series of small-scale vortices will be formed in the troughs of the traveling wave located on the rear part of the circular cylinder; these vortices can effectively control the flow separation from the cylinder surface, eliminate the oscillating wake and suppress the VIV of the cylinder. A TWW starting at the initial time or at some time halfway through the time interval can significantly suppress the CF and IL vibrations of the cylinder and can remarkably decrease the fluctuations of the lift coefficients and the average values of the drag coefficients; however, it will simultaneously dramatically increase the fluctuations of the drag coefficients.  相似文献

The influence of Na2HPO4·12H2O on the hydrothermal formation of hemihydrate calcium sulfate (CaSO4·0.5H2O) whiskers from dihydrate calcium sulfate (CaSO4·2H2O) at 135 °C was investigated. Experimental results indicate that the addition of phosphorus accelerates the hydrothermal conversion of CaSO4·2H2O to CaSO4·0.5H2O via the formation of Ca3(PO4)2 and produces CaSO4·0.5H2O whiskers with thinner diameters and shorter lengths. Compared with the blank experiment without Na2HPO4·12H2O, the existence of minor amounts (8.65 × 10−4–4.36 × 10−3 mol/L) of Na2HPO4·12H2O led to a decrease in the diameter of CaSO4·0.5H2O whiskers from 1.0–10.0 to 0.5–2.0 μm and lengths from 70–300 to 50–200 μm.  相似文献

Concern over the health effects of fine particles in the ambient environment led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop the first standard for PM2.5 (particulate matter less than 2.5 μm) in 1997. The Particle Technology Laboratory at the University of Minnesota has helped to establish the PM2.5 standard by developing many instruments and samplers to perform atmospheric measurements. In this paper, we review various aspects of PM2.5, including its measurement, source apportionment, visibility and health effects, and mitigation. We focus on PM2.5 studies in China and where appropriate, compare them with those obtained in the U.S. Based on accurate PM2.5 sampling, chemical analysis, and source apportionment models, the major PM2.5 sources in China have been identified to be coal combustion, motor vehicle emissions, and industrial sources. Atmospheric visibility has been found to correlate well with PM2.5 concentration. Sulfate, ammonium, and nitrate carried by PM2.5, commonly found in coal burning and vehicle emissions, are the dominant contributors to regional haze in China. Short-term exposure to PM2.5 is strongly associated with the increased risk of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular and respiratory diseases in China. The strategy for PM2.5 mitigation must be based on reducing the pollutants from the two primary sources of coal-fired power plants and vehicle emissions. Although conventional Particulate Emission Control Devices (PECD) such as electrostatic precipitators in Chinese coal-fired power plants are generally effective for large particles, most of them may not have high collection efficiency of PM2.5. Baghouse filtration is gradually incorporated into the PECD to increase the PM2.5 collection efficiency. By adopting stringent vehicle emissions standard such as Euro 5 and 6, the emissions from vehicles can be gradually reduced over the years. An integrative approach, from collaboration among academia, government, and industries, can effectively manage and mitigate the PM2.5 pollution in China.  相似文献
