Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases and characterized by cognitive and memory impairments. Emerging evidence suggests that the extracellular matrix (ECM) in the brain plays an important role in the etiology of AD. It has been detected that the levels of ECM proteins have changed in the brains of AD patients and animal models. Some ECM components, for example, elastin and heparan sulfate proteoglycans, are considered to promote the upregulation of extracellular amyloid-beta (Aβ) proteins. In addition, collagen VI and laminin are shown to have interactions with Aβ peptides, which might lead to the clearance of those peptides. Thus, ECM proteins are involved in both amyloidosis and neuroprotection in the AD process. However, the molecular mechanism of neuronal ECM proteins on the pathophysiology of AD remains elusive. More investigation of ECM proteins with AD pathogenesis is needed, and this may lead to novel therapeutic strategies and biomarkers for AD.  相似文献

A range of polynorbornenes (PNBs) with fused dipolar pendant groups at C‐5,6 positions was synthesized by ring‐opening metathesis polymerization catalyzed by a ruthenium carbene complex (Grubbs I). Photophysical studies, EFISH measurements, and atomic force microscopy images have been used to investigate the structures and morphology of these polymers. These results suggest that the polymers may adopt rigid rod‐like structures. The presence of the double bonds in PNBs appeared to be indispensable for the rigidity of the polymers. Interaction between unsaturated pendant groups may result in coherent alignment leading to a rod‐like structure.  相似文献

4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidene‐2,2‐bis‐(phthalic acid anhydride) (1) was reacted with L ‐methionine (2) in acetic acid and the resulting N,N′–(4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidenediphthaloyl)‐bis‐L ‐methionine (4) was obtained in high yield. The direct polycondensation reaction of this diacid with several aromatic diols such as bisphenol A (5a), phenolphthalein (5b), 1,4‐dihydroxybenzene (5c), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide (5d), 4,6‐dihydroxypyrimidine (5e), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone (5f) and 2,4′‐dihydroxyacetophenone (5g) was carried out in a system of thionyl chloride and pyridine. Expecting that the reaction with thionyl chloride in pyridine might involve alternative intermediates different from an acyl chloride, the polycondensation at a higher temperature favorable for the reaction of the expected intermediate with nucleophiles was attempted, and a highly thermally stable poly(ester‐imide) was obtained by carrying out the reaction at 80°C. All of the above polymers were fully characterized by 1H‐NMR, 19F‐NMR FT‐IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and specific rotation. There have been many experimental and theoretical studies on molecular conduction, as it is a fundamental parameter in the study of molecular‐scale electronics. We have investigated the features of molecular conduction using a Green's function method, which has often been used to solve problems in quantum transport and is also effective in elucidating electron transport in molecules. We have obtained the novel effective Green's functions, including the first‐order energy corrections, by accommodating the self‐energy of the electrodes as perturbation terms. Although these approximate Green's functions only provide information on the first‐order energy corrections, they can involve the elementary properties of molecular conduction. We propose a scheme for the analysis of the relations between molecular orbitals and their roles in molecular conduction and present analytical calculations for normal and cyclic polyenes. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Low-temperature heat capacities of the compound Na(C4H7O5)·H2O(s) have been measured with an automated adiabatic calorimeter. A solid-solid phase transition and dehydration occur at 290-318 K and 367-373 K, respectively. The enthalpy and entropy of the solid-solid transition are ΔtransHm = (5.75 ± 0.01) kJ mol−1 and ΔtransSm = (18.47 ± 0.02) J K−1 mol−1. The enthalpy and entropy of the dehydration are ΔdHm = (15.35 ± 0.03) kJ mol−1 and ΔdSm = (41.35 ± 0.08) J K−1 mol−1. Experimental values of heat capacities for the solids (I and II) and the solid-liquid mixture (III) have been fitted to polynomial equations.  相似文献

Recent efforts in scientific research in the field of peripheral nerve regeneration have been directed towards the development of artificial nerve guides. We have studied various materials with the aim of obtaining a biocompatible and biodegradable two layer guide for nerve repair. The candidate materials for use as an external layer for the nerve guides were poly(caprolactone) (PCL), a biosynthetic blend between PCL and chitosan (CS) and a synthesised poly(ester-urethane) (PU). Blending PCL, which is a biocompatible synthetic polymer, with a natural polymer enhanced the system biocompatibility and biomimetics, fastened the degradation rates and reduced the production costs. Various novel block poly(ester-urethane)s are being synthesised by our group with tailored properties for specific tissue engineering applications. One of these poly(ester-urethane)s, based on a low molecular weight poly(caprolactone) as the macrodiol, cycloesandimethanol as the chain extender and hexamethylene diisocyanate as the chain linker, was investigated for the production of melt extruded nerve guides. We studied natural polymers such as gelatin (G), poly(L-lysine) (PL) and blends between chitosan and gelatin (CS/G) as internal coatings for nerve guides. In vitro and in vivo tests were performed on PCL guides internally coated either with G or PL to determine the differences in the quality of nerve regeneration associated with the type of adhesion protein. CS/G natural blends combined the good cell adhesion properties of the protein phase with the ability to promote nerve regeneration of the polysaccharide phase. Natural blends were crosslinked both by physical and chemical crosslinking methods. In vitro neuroblast adhesion tests were performed on CS/G film samples, PCL/CS and PU guides internally coated with G to evaluate the ability of such materials towards nerve repair.  相似文献

Biodegradable elastomeric network polyesters were prepared from multifunctional aliphatic carboxylic acids such as tricarballylic acid (Yt) or meso-1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (Xb) and poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL) diols with molecular weights of 530, 1,250 and 2,000 g.mol-1. Prepolymers prepared by a melt polycondensation were cast from DMF solution and postpolymerized at 280 degrees C for various periods of times to form a network. The resultant films were transparent, flexible and insoluble in organic solvents. The network polyesters obtained were characterized by IR absorption spectra, WAXS, density measurement, DSC, and tensile test. YtPCL1250, and XbPCL1250 network polyester films showed good elastomeric properties with high ultimate elongation (540-590%), and low Young's modulus (2.5-3.3 MPa). The enzymatic degradation was estimated by the weight loss of network films in a buffer solution with Rhizopus delemar lipase at 37 degrees C. The degree and rate of degradation were significantly affected by the molecular weight of PCL diol, chemical structures of multifunctional aliphatic carboxylic acids and the morphology of network films. The changes in the solid states of network films during the degradation were also estimated by the results of DSC and WAXS. [see text]  相似文献

The light-driven crawling of a molecular crystal that can form three phases, (α, β, and γ) is presented. Laser irradiation of the molecular crystal can generate phase-dependent transient elastic lattice deformation. The resulting elastic lattice deformation that follows scanning irradiation of a laser can actuate the different phases of molecular crystal to move with different velocity and direction. Because the γ phase has a large Young's modulus (ca. 26 GPa), a force of 0.1 μN can be generated under one laser spot. The generated force is sufficient to actuate the γ-formed molecular crystals in a wide dimensional range to move longitudinally at a velocity of about 60 μm min−1, which is two orders of magnitude faster than the α and β phases.  相似文献

The simple anti-aufbau DFT approach for estimating singlet excited state aromaticity suggested in a recent Communication published in this journal is shown to produce incorrect results because it targets a linear combination of the singlet and triplet configurations involving the HOMO and LUMO rather than the first singlet excited state. If the S1 state of a molecule is dominated by the HOMO→LUMO excitation, a comparably simple but theoretically consistent and qualitatively correct approximation to the S1 wavefunction can be achieved by performing a small “two electrons in two orbitals” CASSCF(2,2) calculation which can be followed by the evaluation of magnetic aromaticity criteria such as NICS.  相似文献

Summary. A Mitsunobu-based protocol has been developed for the synthesis of symmetrically and unsymmetrically substituted ureas from a variety of primary and secondary amines using gaseous carbon dioxide, in good to excellent yields. This protocol is mild and efficient compared to other reported methods.  相似文献
