Reductive coupling of polyfunctionalized organobismuth and organolead arylating reagents in the synthesis of benzopyran derivatives

Benzopyran derivatives were synthesized in good yields by the reactions of tris[2-(chloromethyl)phenyl]bismuth diacetate and 2-(halomethyl)aryllead triacetates with phenols and naturally occurring 4-hydroxycoumarins in the presence of bases according to a three-step one-pot procedure. Development of a Novel Approach to Formation of a Pyrrole Ring: Synthesis of 2,3,5-Substituted 1-[2-(Vinyloxy)ethyl]pyrroles

Reaction of 2-(vinyloxy)ethylisothiocyanate with unsaturated carbanions generated in situ from propargyl ethers and amines when treated with superbases, after S-alkylation and cyclization of the adducts in the presence of CuBr, leads to the previously unknown 2,3,5-substituted 1-[2-(vinyloxy)ethyl]pyrroles.     

New dinuclear palladium complex with a Chinese-lantern structure

The new dinuclear palladium complex Pd₂(-S,N-SC₇H₅N₂)₄ with a Chinese-lantern structure was synthesized by the reaction of K₂PdCl₄ with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis.     

Structure of 2-Amino-4-phenyl-9H-pyrimido[4,5-b]indole and Its Nitrate in Crystal and Solution

The crystal structures of 2-amino-4-phenyl-9H-pyrimido[4,5-b]indole and its nitrate were determined by XRD analysis. ¹³C NMR, XRD, and quantum-chemical data indicate that the acid proton is predominantly localized at the N(3) atom of the pyrimidine ring in both isolated nitrate molecules and in molecules in crystal and solution.     

Fluorine containing poly(amide-imide)s: synthesis and formation of Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers

Soluble fluorine containing poly(amide-imide)s, PAI(1-4), were synthesized from diimide-dicarboxylic acid, 2,2-bis[N-(4-carboxyphenyl)-phthalimide-1,4-yl]hexafluoropropane with various diamines by direct polycondensation in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) containing CaCl₂ and using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. The polymers were readily soluble in aprotic polar solvents such as NMP, N,N-dimethylacetamide, dimethyl sulfoxide and tetrahydrofuran. Their Langmuir monolayers were studied at the air/water interface. The monolayers were generally stable at the water surface and could be reproducibly transferred onto solid substrates to build up Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) multilayers. The LB mono- and multilayers were characterized by ultra-violet/visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), surface plasmon resonance, atomic force microscopy.     

Electrokinetic and contact angle measurements of grafted carbon fibers

 The grafting method that has successfully been applied to methacrylic acid and liquid crystalline monomers was expanded to prepare amphoteric carbon fiber surfaces using 2-(N,N-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate as monomer. The obtained carbon fiber surfaces were characterized by contact angle and ζ-potential measurements. The expected basic behavior was not observed, instead an amphoteric character of the modified carbon fiber surface was found. The fiber surfaces display a basic character in the acidic pH-range, while they are acidic in the alkaline part of the pH-scale. An important influence is derived from the amount of initiator used to graft the monomers onto the fibers. The smaller the initiator concen-tration used during polymerization, the larger the amount of amino functionalities introduced to the carbon fiber surface. The wetting behavior versus water depends on the overall conformation of the immobilized polymer. During immersion into water the polymer acts hydrophobic, while during emersion, a hydrophilic character is observed, probably derived from conformational changes and swelling during the contact angle measure-ments in water. Synthesis of diaminohydroxyethersvia 3-(ω-haloalkoxy)-2-hydroxypropyl sulfamates

Adsorption, diffusion and desorption of chlorine on and from rutile TiO2{110}: a theoretical investigation.

The adsorption, diffusion and desorption of chlorine on and from stoichiometric, reduced and partially reduced (defective) rutile TiO2{110} are investigated using ab initio density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Theoretical results are compared with experimental investigations, and microkinetic simulations based on DFT values are then used to verify the diffusion mechanisms assumed in the experimental investigations.     

喷雾热解法合成球形(Y,Gd)BO3:Eu荧光粉的研究

采用喷雾热解法合成了无团聚的球形(Y,Gd)BO3∶Eu荧光粉。研究了各因素对(Y,Gd)BO3∶Eu荧光粉体的结晶性能、外观形貌及发光强度的影响。结果表明,按120%硼酸的化学计量比于900℃喷雾热解,再经过1200℃后处理2 h,可以合成结晶良好的(Y,Gd)BO3∶Eu荧光粉体;喷雾热解溶液的浓度和载气流量对荧光粉的外观形貌影响较大;铕含量为10%时可以获得最佳的发光强度。在优化喷雾热解实验条件下成功合成出良好发光强度的PDP用(Y0.6Gd0.3)BO3∶Eu0.1荧光粉。     

Selective dimerization of α-methylstyrene catalyzed by a solid acid

A novel solid acid prepared from concentrated sulfuric, boric and phosphoric acid is a highly selective catalyst for the dimerization of α-methylstyrene at room temperature to generate 4-methyl-2,4-diphenyl-1-pentene.
