Here expounded is a kind of symbolic operator method that can be used to construct many transformation formulas and summation formulas for various types of power series including some old ones and more new ones.     

On the distribution tail of an integrated risk model: A numerical approach

We consider an insurance risk process with the possibility to invest the capital reserve into a portfolio consisting of a risky asset and a riskless asset. The stock price is modelled by an exponential Lévy process and the riskless interest rate is assumed to be constant. We aim at the risk assessment of the integrated risk process in terms of a high quantile or the far out distribution tail. We indicate an application to an optimal investment strategy of an insurer.     

Synchronization of delayed fuzzy cellular neural networks based on adaptive control

This Letter studies synchronization of delayed fuzzy cellular neural networks with all the parameters unknown. To enhance the coupled strength dynamically and be more suitable for the reality, we add fuzzy theory to the traditional cellular neural networks. By the Lyapunov-Lasall principle of functional differential equations, some new stability criteria are obtained via adaptive control. To the best of our knowledge, there has few work studying fuzzy cellular neural networks. Moreover, the approaches developed here extend the ideas and techniques derived in recent literatures. In the end, an example and its simulation were given to illustrate the simpleness and effectiveness of our main results.     

Symmetric identities on Bernoulli polynomials

In this paper, we obtain a generalization of an identity due to Carlitz on Bernoulli polynomials. Then we use this generalized formula to derive two symmetric identities which reduce to some known identities on Bernoulli polynomials and Bernoulli numbers, including the Miki identity.     

Bicyclic graphs for which the least eigenvalue is minimum

The spread of a graph is defined to be the difference between the greatest eigenvalue and the least eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix of the graph. In this paper we determine the unique graph with minimum least eigenvalue among all connected bicyclic graphs of order n. Also, we determine the unique graph with maximum spread in this class for each n?28.     

Positive real control for 2-D discrete delayed systems via output feedback controllers

This paper considers the problem of positive real control for two-dimensional (2-D) discrete delayed systems in the Fornasini–Marchesini second local state-space model. Attention is focused on the design of dynamic output feedback controllers, which guarantee that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable and the closed-loop transfer function is extended strictly positive real. We first present a sufficient condition for extended strictly positive realness of 2-D discrete delayed systems. Based on this, a sufficient condition for the solvability of the positive real control problem is obtained in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI). When the LMI is feasible, an explicit parametrization of a desired output feedback controller is presented. Finally, we provide a numerical example to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.     

A sequential equality constrained quadratic programming algorithm for inequality constrained optimization

In this paper, the feasible type SQP method is improved. A new SQP algorithm is presented to solve the nonlinear inequality constrained optimization. As compared with the existing SQP methods, per single iteration, in order to obtain the search direction, it is only necessary to solve equality constrained quadratic programming subproblems and systems of linear equations. Under some suitable conditions, the global and superlinear convergence can be induced.     

Discrete Galerkin method for Fredholm integro-differential equations with weakly singular kernels

Approximations to a solution and its derivatives of a boundary value problem of an nth order linear Fredholm integro-differential equation with weakly singular or other nonsmooth kernels are determined. These approximations are piecewise polynomial functions on special graded grids. For their finding a discrete Galerkin method and an integral equation reformulation of the boundary value problem are used. Optimal global convergence estimates are derived and an improvement of the convergence rate of the method for a special choice of parameters is obtained. To illustrate the theoretical results a collection of numerical results of a test problem is presented.

L. Rédei has introduced in 1946 a class of rational functions over finite fields of orderp ^t –p being an odd prime — and has proved some interesting results on permutations which are induced by these functions. Recently, similar results have been found for factor rings of the integers of orderp ^t ; moreover, these functions have been applied to construct public key cryptosystems. In this paper we consider functions of Rédei type over finite fields and factor rings of the integers of order 2 ^t . We show that most of the results for oddp also hold in this case.

     

Integral complete 4-partite graphs

A graph G is called integral if all the roots of the characteristic polynomial P(G;x) are integers. In the paper the first known integral complete 4-partite graph K_p1,p2,p3,p4, where p₁<p₂<p₃<p₄, is constructed.
