We have performed the optical and photoelectron
spectroscopic studies of alkyl-passivated Si nanoparticles synthesized by a
solution route. The alkyl-passivated Si nanoparticle with mean diameter less
than about 2 nm exhibits a strong ultraviolet-blue photoluminescence.
Furthermore, we have directly investigated their electronic structures in
the vicinity of Fermi level by means of valence-band photoemission
measurements using synchrotron radiation. From these results, the detailed
optical properties and electronic structures of alkyl-passivated Si

We review and extend the composite fermion theory for semiconductor quantum dots in high magnetic fields. The mean-field model
of composite fermions is unsatisfactory for the qualitative physics at high angular momenta.
Extensive numerical calculations demonstrate that the microscopic CF theory,
which incorporates interactions between composite fermions, provides an excellent qualitative and quantitative account
of the quantum dot ground state down to the largest angular momenta studied,
and allows systematic improvements by inclusion of mixing between composite

Mass-filtered cobalt clusters with a size of 8 nm have been deposited in-situ under soft-landing conditions onto Au(111).
The spin and orbital moments of the Co nanoparticles on a Au (111) single crystal have been investigated as a function of
the temperature using the element-specific method of X-ray magnetic circular dichroism in photoabsorption. The results hint
at an temperature-dependent spin-reorientation transition which is discussed with respect to different contribution to the
magnetic anisotropy. Furthermore, by means of an in-situ oxidation experiment, the influence of an exposure to oxygen on the

Quantum mechanical ab initio simulation of the electron screening effect in metal deuteride crystals

In antecedent experiments the electron screening energies of the d+d reactions in metallic environments have been determined
to be enhanced by an order of magnitude in comparison to the case of gaseous deuterium targets. The analytical models describing
averaged material properties have not been able to explain the experimental results so far. Therefore, a first effort has
been undertaken to simulate the dynamics of reacting deuterons in a metallic lattice by means of an ab initio Hartree-Fock calculation of the total electrostatic force between the lattice and the successively approaching deuterons
via path integration. The calculations have been performed for Li and Ta, clearly showing a migration of electrons from host
metallic to the deuterium atoms. However, in order to avoid more of the necessary simplifications in the model the utilization

Fullerene-like silicon nanostructures with twenty and twenty-four carbon
atoms on the surface of the Si60 cage by substitution, as well as
inside the cage at various orientations have been studied within the
generalized gradient approximation to density functional theory. Full
geometry optimizations have been performed without any symmetry constraints
using the Gaussian 03 suite of programs and the LANL2DZ basis set. Thus, for the
silicon atom, the Hay-Wadt pseudopotential with the associated basis set is
used for the core electrons and the valence electrons, respectively. For the
carbon atom, the Dunning/Huzinaga double zeta basis set is employed.
Electronic and geometric properties of these nanostructures are presented
and discussed in detail. Optimized silicon-carbon fullerene like
nanostructures are found to have increased stability compared to the bare
Si60 cage and the stability depends on the number and the orientation
of carbon atoms, as well as on the nature of silicon-carbon and

The title complex,[Zn(ip)2(H2O)2][ZnCl4]·H2O·2DMF 1(ip=imidazo[4,5-f][1,10] phenanthroline),has been synthesized via the slow evaporation of concentrated reaction solution at room temperature.It was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.Crystal data for C32H36Cl4N10O5Zn2:white prism,0.17mm×0.15mm×0.10mm,monoclinic,space group P2/c,a=11.928(8),b=9.868(6),c=16.520(11),β=104.879(12)°,V=1879(2)3,Z=2,Mr=913.25,Dc=1.614 g/cm3,F(000)=932,μ=1.616 mm-1,λ(MoKα)=0.71073,GOOF=1.045,R=0.0710 and wR=0.1755 for 3055 observed reflections with Ⅰ2σ(Ⅰ).X-ray diffraction study reveals that the title complex has an interesting 3D architecture via hydrogen bonding interactions and π-π interactions.The IR,TGA,XRD and luminescent properties of complex 1 were also studied. 相似文献

Experiments using bovine semen reveal that the addition of a high-gain water soluble dye results in random laser action when excited by a Q-switched, frequency doubled, Nd:Yag laser. The data shows that the linewidth collapse of the emission is correlated to the sperm count of the individual samples, potentially making this a rapid, low sample volume approach to count determination. 相似文献
