We investigate the properties of symmetrical triangular quantum wells composed of InGaAs/InAs chirped superlattice, which is grown by gas source molecular beam epitaxy via digital alloy method. In the quantum well structure tensile AlInGaAs are used as barriers to partially compensate for the significant compressive strain in the wells, the strain compensation effects are confirmed by x-ray measurement. The photoluminescence spectra of the sample are dominated by the excitonic recombination peak in the whole temperature range. The thermal quenching, peak energy shift and line-width broadening of the PL spectra are analysed in detail, the mechanisms are discussed. 相似文献

A new type of THz waveguides, which employs a solid polyethylene rod as the core and polyethylene tubes in a periodic array of square lattice as the cladding, is proposed. Optical properties of this new THz waveguide, especially in dispersion, confinement loss and single mode property, are investigated in detail with the plane wave expansion method and the beam propagation method. Numerical results demonstrate that the new THz waveguide can reach not only low dispersion but also low confinement loss at single mode propagation. We report on the optical planar waveguide formation in KTiOPO4 crystals by single or double oxygen ion implantation at energies of 2.4-3.0 MeV and doses of 1015 ions/cm^2. The dark-line spectroscopy properties are investigated by a prism-coupling method. With an effective refractive index method, the refractive index profiles of the waveguides are reconstructed. The program code TRIM'98 (transport of ions in matter) is used to simulate the implantation process of oxygen ions into the KTiOPO4 crystal. It is found that an inherent relationship exists between the nuclear damage and the refractive index changes induced by the ion-beam implantation. 相似文献

Design of Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystal Edge Emitting Laser for Photonic Integrated Circuits 下载免费PDF全文
An edge emitting laser based on two-dimensional photonic crystal slabs is proposed. The device consists of a square lattice microcavity, which is composed of two structures with the same period but different radius of air-holes, and a waveguide. In the cavity, laser resonance in the inner structure benefits from not only the anomalous dispersion characteristic of the first band-edge at the M point in the first Brillouin-zone but also zero photon states in the outer structure. A line defect waveguide is introduced in the outer structure for extracting photons from the inner cavity. Three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulations apparently show the in-plane laser output from the waveguide. The microcavity has an effective mode volume of about 3.2(λ/nslab)^3 for oscillation mode and the quality factor of the device including line defect waveguide is estimated to be as high as 1300. 相似文献

We investigate the properties of waveguides induced by one-dimensional grey
screening solitons in biased photorefractive crystals. The results show that
waveguides induced by grey screening solitons are always of single mode for all
intensity ratios, i.e. the ratios between the peak intensity of the
soliton and the dark irradiance. Our analysis indicates that the
energy confined near the centre of the grey soliton and the propagation constant of
the guided mode of the waveguide induced by the grey screening soliton
increase monotonically with intensity ratio increasing. On the other hand,
when the soliton greyness increases, the energy confined near the centre
of the grey soliton and the propagation constant of the guided mode of the
waveguide induced by the grey screening soliton decrease monotonically.
Relevant examples are provided where photorefractive crystal is of the

We propose a new type of two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal L-shaped bent waveguides based on ring resonators with an acceptable bandwidth. The proposed structure mechanism is based on coupling between a waveguide and a ring resonator. This structure is designed and verified by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) computation.
