Incomplete data problems in X-ray computerized tomography

Summary In the present paper we study truncated projections for the fanbeam geometry in computerized tomography. First we derive consistency conditions for the divergent beam transform. Then we study a singular value decomposition for the case where only the interior rays in the fan are provided, as for example in region-of-interest tomography. We show that the high angular frequency components of the searched-for densities are well determined and we present reconstructions from real data where the missing information is approximated based on the singular value decomposition.The work of the authors was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft under grant Lo 310/2-4

Über die abstandsverträglichen Abbildungen auf dem Kreis und auf der reellen Geraden

Zusammenfassung. Eine Abbildung zwischen metrischen R?umen hei?t abstandsvertr?glich, wenn der Abstand der Bilder zweier Punkte nur vom Abstand der Punkte selbst abh?ngt. Wir zeigen, dass eine Abbildung genau dann abstandsvertr?glich ist, wenn der Cauchyschen Funktionalgleichung genügt, also ein Endomorphismus der Gruppe ist. Ein entsprechendes Resultat gilt auch für die abstandsvertr?glichen Abbildungen des Kreises (mit der Multiplikation komplexer Zahlen als Gruppenverknüpfung). Damit kann man sowohl alle messbaren abstandsvertr?glichen Abbildungen von bzw. in sich angeben, als auch einen Nachweis für die Existenz nichtmessbarer abstandsvertr?glicher Abbildungen auf und erbringen. Single chain force spectroscopy - Reading the sequence of HP protein models

We study the elastic properties of single A/B random copolymer chains, with a specific sequence and use them as theoretical model for so called HP proteins. HP proteins carry hydrophilic (P) and hydrophobic (H) monomers. We predict a rich structure in the force-extension relations which can be attributed to the information in the sequence. The variational method is used to probe local minima on the path of stretching and releasing for the chain molecules. At a given force, we find multiple configurations which are separated by energy barriers. A collapsed globular configuration consists of several domains which unravel cooperatively. Upon stretching, the unfolding path shows a stepwise pattern corresponding to the unfolding of each domain. While releasing, several cores can be created simultaneously in the middle of the chain, resulting in a different path of collapse. The long-range interactions and stiffness of the chain simplify the potential landscape given by the disorder in sequence. Isothermal crystallization kinetics of poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate)/layered double hydroxide nanocomposites

Poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) (PHB)/layered double hydroxides (LDHs) nanocomposites were prepared by mixing PHB and poly(ethylene glycol) phosphonates (PEOPAs)‐modified LDH (PMLDH) in chloroform solution. Both X‐ray diffraction data and TEM micrographs of PHB/PMLDH nanocomposites indicate that the PMLDHs are randomly dispersed and exfoliated into the PHB matrix. In this study, the effect of PMLDH on the isothermal crystallization behavior of PHB was investigated using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and polarized optical microscopy. Isothermal crystallization results of PHB/PMLDH nanocomposites show that the addition of 2 wt % PMLDH into PHB induced more heterogeneous nucleation in the crystallization significantly increasing the crystallization rate and reducing their activation energy. By adding more PMLDH into the PHB probably causes more steric hindrance of the diffusion of PHB, reducing the transportation ability of polymer chains during crystallization, thus increasing the activation energy. The correlation among crystallization kinetics, melting behavior and crystalline structure of PHB/PMLDH nanocomposites can also be discussed. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Mössbauer and X-ray diffraction characterization of Fe60Al40 coatings prepared by thermal spraying

Microstructured (atomized) and nanostructured (milled) Fe₆₀Al₄₀ powders together with their corresponding coatings synthesized by High Velocity Oxy-fuel (HVOF) or Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) thermal spraying techniques have been characterized by Mössbauer Spectroscopy (MS) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The evolution of the microstructure and the atomic ordering degree in the powders and coatings are discussed at the light of the various processing conditions. The operational correlation between the parameters of the duplex morphology of coatings and the processing parameters is discussed.     

Synthesis and cyclization of 1-arylalk-1-ene-3,5-diynylamines

An investigation of the reaction of 1-lithio-1,3-diynes, generated in situ, with nitriles has been carried out. In the case of aromatic nitriles 1-arylalk-1-ene-3,5-diynylamines are formed, which undergo dimerization and cyclization on isolation, giving 3-(alka-1,3-diynyl)-4-(alk-2-ynyl)-2,6-diarylpyridines. The effect of the nature of the substituent in the benzonitrile molecule on the selectivity of the reaction and the yield of the products has been determined. Estimating Sampling Errors in REA Survey: A Model Approach for the Synthetic Presentation of Results for Main Variables Involved in Economic Analysis

A new sample business survey for agriculture, the REA survey, and a project of integration with the FADN network (RICA in Italy) have significantly changed the production of statistical information nowadays available with reference to the agricultural sector. On the basis of this relevant information, new economic analyses are being developed on farms’ performance, agricultural households’ income and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). In this paper the authors estimate the relationship between the levels of variables of interest and their sampling errors using models in order to improve the accessibility of the information on estimates accuracy to the final users (agricultural analysts, policy makers). The paper is the result of a joint research of the three authors. Sections 1–3 and 6 by Pizzoli, Sects. 4 and 5 by Rondinelli, Sect. 7 by Filiberti, conclusions joint to the three authors.

将集对理论(SPA)与双枝模糊决策理论相结合,用集对分析的方法研究进行双枝模糊决策的方法,分别对双枝模糊决策因素域和双枝模糊决策的上枝、下枝和双枝进行了集对分析,给出了用SPA进行双枝模糊决策的性质,同时讨论了双枝模糊决策的动态分析方法,以及双枝模糊决策度强弱态势预测的方法,从而为双枝模糊决策理论的研究提供了新的视角和方法,为双枝模糊决策的应用提供了更方便的工具和更强的理论支持。
