The main task of a fingerprint image enhancement is to enhance the image in such a way that it not only remove the noise but also enhance the reliable minutiae points. For this purpose, in this paper we propose a multi-scale decimation-free directional filter bank method for reliable orientation estimation. This reliable orientation is used in coherence enhancement diffusion and in Gabor filter based enhancement, which overcomes the drawbacks of these two methods. Experimental results show that the proposed method not only enhances the images but also facilitates the minutiae algorithm, by enhancing the true minutiae points.  相似文献

Large cylindrical [001] direction α‐nickel sulphate hexahydrate crystal with 20 mm diameter and 140 mm length was grown from an aqueous solution by uniaxially solution‐crystallization method of Sankaranarayanan–Ramasamy (SR). We adapt the spectral viscosity (SV) formulation implemented as a modal filter to a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method solving hyperbolic conservation laws on triangular grids. The connection between SV and spectral filtering, which is undertaken for the first time in the context of DG methods on unstructured grids, allows to specify conditions on the filter strength regarding time step choice and mesh refinement. A crucial advantage of this novel damping strategy is its low computational cost. We furthermore obtain new error bounds for filtered Dubiner expansions of smooth functions. While high order accuracy with respect to the polynomial degree N is proven for the filtering procedure in this case, an adaptive application is proposed to retain the high spatial approximation order. Although spectral filtering stabilizes the scheme, it leaves weaker oscillations. Therefore, as a postprocessing step, we apply the image processing technique of digital total variation (DTV) filtering in the new context of DG solutions and prove conservativity in the limit for this filtering procedure. Numerical experiments for scalar conservation laws confirm the designed order of accuracy of the DG scheme with adaptive modal filtering for polynomial degrees up to 8 and the viability of spectral and DTV filtering in case of shocks. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

The visual detection between crossed polarizers, of organic vapors on various liquid crystal films is reported. Non-selective detection is achieved in the ppm range. However, opportunities exist for bettering selectivity and sensitivity as illustrated with a combined polymer-liquid crystal detection system for amines. Hydraulics of Peat Filters Treating Septic Tank Effluent   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Peat is an alternative filter medium for the treatment of various waste streams including septic tank effluent. The water holding capacity and adsorption capacity of peat make it a favorable filter medium over sand or gravel which are commonly used as the filter medium for the drainage field of septic systems. This paper presents the results of a field study to evaluate the hydraulics of a peat filter used to treat the septic tank effluent from a public school west of Ottawa, Canada. An experimental box was placed within the filter during its construction to provide access to the vertical profile of the peat layer. The filter is periodically pulsed with septic tank effluent, which is distributed over the top of the filter and flows vertically through the peat. The filter was instrumented with tensiometers and transducers to monitor the pore water pressures in response to a pulse of septic tank effluent. An in-depth study of the hydraulics of the system was completed. The soil moisture retention curve and the hydraulic conductivity as a function of density were determined in laboratory experiments. A one-dimensional unsaturated flow model was used to predict the pressure response due to a pulse. A comparison of the field and model results illustrates the impact of the density variations, and the corresponding hydraulic conductivity variations, on the model predictions. The compaction of the peat is an important design consideration for the filter since it directly impacts the flow characteristics and the hydraulic retention time within the filter.  相似文献

We study a class of M -channel subband coding schemes with perfect reconstruction. Along the lines of [8] and [10], we construct compactly supported biorthogonal wavelet bases of L 2 (R) , with dilation factor M , associated to these schemes. In particular, we study the case of splines, and obtain explicitly simple expressions for all the relevant filters. 一个常规的自适应光学系统通常包含三个重要环节:波前探测、波前校正和波前重构。因此对系统的技术要求非常高,造成系统复杂,成本昂贵。基于哈特曼-夏克波前探测的图像解卷积处理就是“事后”处理的一种,它省去了波前校正环节,使常规的自适应光学系统得到简化,降低了系统成本。其基本原理为对瞬时波面进行短时间曝光探测,同时记录相应的短时间曝光图像,来进行解卷积处理。将增量维纳滤波法应用于基于哈特曼-夏克波前探测的解卷积中,并对室内模拟点源情况下的三组畸变光斑图像数据进行了解卷积恢复处理。结果表明,将增量维纳滤波法应用于基于波前探测的解卷积是完全可行的,在室内模拟点源情况下,恢复的图像可以达到衍射极限分辨力。与维纳滤波相比,它扩展了噪声抑制因子的选取范围,在噪声抑制因子选取不正确的情况下,仍能得到比维纳滤波更好的结果。  相似文献
