Duality for Dini-Invex Nonsmooth Multiobjective Programming

In this paper we generalize the concept of a Dini-convex function with Dini derivative and introduce a new concept - Dini-invexity. Some properties of Dini invex functions are discussed. On the base of this, we study the Wolfe type duality and Mond-Weir type duality for Dini-invex nonsmooth multiobjective programmings and obtain corresponding duality theorems.     

THE FUNCTIONAL DIMENSION OF SOME CLASSES OF SPACES

The functional dimension of countable Hilbert spaces has been discussed by some authors. They showed that every countable Hilbert space with finite functional dimension is nuclear. In this paper the authors do further research on the functional dimension, and obtain the following results: (1) They construct a countable Hilbert space, which is nuclear, but its functional dimension is infinite. (2) The functional dimension of a Banach space is finite if and only if this space is finite dimensional. (3) Let B be a Banach space, B* be its dual, and denote the weak * topology of B* by σ(B*,B). Then the functional dimension of (B*,σ(B*,B)) is 1. By the third result, a class of topological linear spaces with finite functional dimension is presented.

Global existence to a three‐dimensional non‐linear thermoelasticity system arising in shape memory materials

This paper is concerned with the unique global solvability of a three‐dimensional (3‐D) non‐linear thermoelasticity system arising from the study of shape memory materials. The system consists of the coupled evolutionary problems of viscoelasticity with non‐convex elastic energy and non‐linear heat conduction with mechanical dissipation. The present paper extends the previous 2‐D existence result of the authors Reference [1] to 3‐D case. Well‐posedness of the equations governing the motions of a one‐dimensional hybrid thermo‐elastic structure

In this paper a model for the vibrations of a one‐dimensional hybrid thermo‐elastic structure consisting of an extensible thermo‐elastic beam which is hinged at one end, with a rigid body attached to its free end, is studied with a view to establishing the existence of a unique solution in a weak sense. The model takes account of the effect of stretching on bending and rotational inertia. By treating eigenvalue problems with the spectral parameter also in the boundary conditions, we are able to employ the method of Faedo–Galerkin approximations. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
