New exact solution structures and nonlinear dispersion in the coupled nonlinear wave systems

In this Letter, to further understand the role of nonlinear dispersion in coupled nonlinear wave systems in both real and complex fields, we study the coupled Klein–Gordon equations with nonlinear dispersion in real field (called CKG(m,n,k)$\mathrm{CKG}(m,n,k)$ equation) and (2+1)$(2+1)$-dimensional generalization of coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation with nonlinear dispersion in complex field (called GCNLS(m,n,k)$\mathrm{GCNLS}(m,n,k)$ equation) via some transformations. As a consequence, some types of solutions are obtained, which contain compactons, solitary pattern solutions, envelope compacton solutions, envelope solitary pattern solutions, solitary wave solutions and rational solutions.     

An ODE Model of the Motion of Pelagic Fish

A system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) is derived from a discrete system of Vicsek, Czirók et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 75(6):1226–1229, 1995], describing the motion of a school of fish. Classes of linear and stationary solutions of the ODEs are found and their stability explored using equivariant bifurcation theory. The existence of periodic and toroidal solutions is also proven under deterministic perturbations and structurally stable heteroclinic connections are found. Applications of the model to the migration of the capelin, a pelagic fish that undertakes an extensive migration in the North Atlantic, are discussed and simulation of the ODEs presented.     

Exact solution of the two-mode quantum Rabi model

An analytical method is developed to study the two-mode quantum Rabi model. For certain specific parameter conditions, especially for the resonant conditions, we obtain an infinite number of the exact solutions of the eigenfunctions and associated energies. It is shown that there exist new types of the exact energies which do not correspond to the level-crossings. Our analytical method may find applications in some related models.     

Soliton and other solutions to the (1+2)-dimensional chiral nonlinear Schrödinger equation

The (1+2)-dimensional chiral nonlinear Schrödinger equation (2D-CNLSE) as a nonlinear evolution equation is considered and studied in a detailed manner. To this end, a complex transform is firstly adopted to arrive at the real and imaginary parts of the model, and then, the modified Jacobi elliptic expansion method is formally utilized to derive soliton and other solutions of the 2D-CNLSE. The exact solutions presented in this paper can be classified as topological and nontopological solitons as well as Jacobi elliptic function solutions.     

A new approach to solve the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation using a wavefunction potential

A new approach to find exact solutions to one–dimensional quantum mechanical systems is devised. The scheme is based on the introduction of a potential function for the wavefunction, and the equation it satisfies. We recover known solutions as well as to get new ones for both free and interacting particles with wavefunctions having vanishing and non–vanishing Bohm potentials. For most of the potentials, no solutions to the Schrödinger equation produce a vanishing Bohm potential. A (large but) restricted family of potentials allows the existence of particular solutions for which the Bohm potential vanishes. This family of potentials is determined, and several examples are presented. It is shown that some quantum, such as accelerated Airy wavefunctions, are due to the presence of non–vanishing Bohm potentials. New examples of this kind are found and discussed.     

Demonstration of Inverse Scattering Transform for DNLS Equation

Since the Jost solutions of the DNLS equation does not tend to the free Jost solutioins as |λ| →∞, the usual inverse scattering transform (IST) must be revised. Beside the Kaup and Newell's approach, we propose a simple revision in constructing the equations of IST, where the usual Zakharov-Shabat kern is revised by multiplying λ-2 or λ-1. To justify the revision we show that the Jost solutions obtained do satisfy the pair of compatibility equations.
