Model filled polymers. IX. Synthesis of uniformly crosslinked polystyrene microbeads

Monodisperse sized crosslinked polystyrene (PS) beads prepared by reaction of styrene (S) and divinylbenzene (DVB), in batch emulsion copolymerization in the absence of emulsifiers, are not uniformly crosslinked, because DVB is more reactive than S. For copolymerization of 1 to 10 mol % DVB and S, within each crosslinked PS microbead, the crosslink density varies by a factor exceeding two and decreases with increased conversion. A semicontinuous copolymerization, involving incremental additions of DVB, produces uniformly crosslinked PS beads. For both copolymerization techniques, T_g correlates well with crosslink density and PS beads are spherical and monodisperse in size. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Strong convergence theorems for nonexpansive semi-groups in Banach spaces

Some strong convergence theorems of explicit composite iteration scheme for nonexpansive semi-groups in the framework of Banach spaces are established.Results presented in the paper not only extend and improve the corresponding results of Shioji- Takahashi,Suzuki,Xu and Aleyner-Reich,but also give a partially affirmative answer to the open questions raised by Suzuki and Xu.     

Metrizability and Coconnectedness

Solving the problem stated in Sichler and Trnková, Topol. Its Appl., 142: 159–179, 2004, we construct metrics μ, ν on a set P such that the spaces X=(P,μ) and Y=(P,ν) have the same monoid of all continuous selfmaps, the space Y is coconnected (in the sense that every continuous map Y×Y→Y depends on at most one coordinate) while X is not. Also, properties of the forgetful functors Metr → Unif → Top are investigated for the “simultaneous variant” of the above problem. 本文研究Pontrjagin空间上一般算子代数弱闭和一致闭的等价条件,得到定理:设C0(U),C1(U,L,R,D,V),C2a(U),C2b(U,R),C3a(U),C3b(U,R)分别是Ⅱk空间上第0,Ⅰ,Ⅱa,Ⅱb,Ⅲa和Ⅲb类的算子代数,则(1)C0(U),C2a(U)或C3a(U)为一致闭(弱闭)的等价条件是U是Hibert空间G上的C*-代数(W*-代数;(2)C1(U,L,R,D,V)为一致闭(弱闭)的等价条件是U是Hibert空间H上的C*-代数(W*-代数),并且R是闭子空间,V是闭算子,L对称闭的;(3)C2b(U,R)或C3b(U,R)为一致闭(弱闭)的等价条件是U是Hibert空间H上的C*-代数(W*-代数),并且R是闭子空间．     

Banach空间中极大单调算子零点的迭代收敛定理及应用

令E为实光滑、一致凸的Banach空间,E*为其对偶空间.令A E×E*为极大单调算子且A-10≠.假设{rn}(0,+∞)为实数列且满足rn→∞,n→∞,数列{αn}[0,1]满足∑∞n=1(1-αn)<+∞,对给定的向量xn∈E,寻找向量{x∧n}及{en}使之满足:αnJxn+(1-αn)Jen∈Jx∧n+rnAx∧n,其中{en}E为误差序列而且满足一定的限制条件.即而定义迭代序列{xn}n 1如下:xn+1=J-1[βnJx1+(1-βn)Jx∧n],n 1,其中数列{βn}[0,1]满足βn→0,n→∞且∑∞n=1βn=+∞,则{xn}强收敛于QA-10(x1),这里QA-10为从E到A-10上的广义投影算子.利用Lyapunov泛函,Qr算子与广义投影算子等新技巧,证明了引入的新迭代序列强收敛于极大单调算子A的零点,并讨论了此结论在求解一类凸泛函最小值上的应用.     

一致凸Banach空间非扩张映象带误差的Ishikawa型的三重迭代序列的收敛性

在一致凸Banach空间上,研究了半紧的非扩张压缩映象‖Tx-Ty‖≤‖x-y‖的Ishikawa型的三重迭代序列的收敛性问题,建立并证明了带误差的Ishikawa三重迭代逼近收敛定理,从而独特的推广了Mann和Ishikawa迭代方法,改进和发展了文献[1]-[7]的主要结果.     

Wijsman and Hit-and-Miss Topologies of Quasi-Metric Spaces

The relationship between the Wijsman topology and (proximal) hit-and-miss topologies is studied in the realm of quasi-metric spaces. We establish the equivalence between these hypertopologies in terms of Urysohn families of sets. Our results generalize well-known theorems and provide easier proofs. In particular, we prove that for a quasi-pseudo-metrizable space (X,T) the Vietoris topology on the set P ₀(X) of all nonempty subsets of X is the supremum of all Wijsman topologies associated with quasi-pseudo-metrics compatible with T. We also show that for a quasi-pseudo-metric space (X,d) the Hausdorff extended quasi-pseudo-metric is compatible with the Wijsman topology on P ₀(X) if and only if d ^–1 is hereditarily precompact.     

THE RELATION BETWEEN SIGN-CHANGING SOLUTION AND POSITIVE-NEGATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR NONLINEAR OPERATOR EQUATIONS AND ITS APPLICATIONS

By fixed point index theory and a result obtained by Amann, existence of the solution for a class of nonlinear operator equations x=Ax is discussed. Under suitable conditions, a couple of positive and negative solutions are obtained. Finally, the abstract result is applied to nonlinear Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem, and at least four distinct solutions are obtained.
