The Psymberin Story—Biological Properties and Approaches towards Total and Analogue Syntheses

Psymberin is a marine natural product which has attracted a great deal of interest since its isolation: While the highly cytotoxic compound was detected early on as an ingredient in a marine sponge, it took over a decade and 600 additional samples for the structure to eventually be assigned. In the last eight years fascinating synthetic and biosynthetic investigations have led to a more detailed understanding as well as a new starting point for structure–activity studies towards new antitumor compounds. The Review gives an in‐depth insight into the progress in the field of the marine polyketide psymberin and demonstrates how organic synthesis is influencing neighboring scientific subjects.

自动电位滴定法测定冷轧薄板酸洗液中总酸度

自动电位滴定法测定酸液中总酸度具有简单、快捷、不受其他元素干扰等优点。用硫代硫酸钠掩蔽铁离子,利用自动电位滴定仪测定冷轧薄板酸洗液的总酸度(以盐酸量计)。当电位突变达30mV以上时,仪器自动判定滴定终点。自动电位滴定法测定冷轧薄板酸洗液中总酸度结果与酸碱中和滴定方法具有较好的一致性。相对标准偏差小于0.6%,能够满足生产检验的要求。     

Total synthesis of (±)-erythravine based on ring closing dienyne metathesis

The first total synthesis of (±)-erythravine was achieved in thirteen steps from 3,4-dimethoxyphenethylamine using ring closing dienyne metathesis as the key step.     

Total synthesis and biological evaluation of (-)apicularen A and analogues thereof

Apicularen A (1) and related benzolactone acylenamines belong to a growing class of novel natural products possessing highly cytotoxic properties. The challenging structure of 1 includes a 10-membered macrolactone ring, a tetrahydropyran system, an o,m-substituted phenol and a doubly unsaturated acyl group attached on the side chain enamine functionality. The total synthesis of apicularen A described herein involves a strategy equivalent to its proposed biosynthesis and entails a reiterative two-step procedure featuring allylation and ozonolytic cleavage to grow the molecule's chain by one acetate unit at a time. The developed synthetic technology was applied to the construction of a series of apicularen A analogues whose biological evaluation established a set of structure-activity relationships in this new area of potential importance in cancer chemotherapy.     

Dependence of the rate constants on the treatment of internal rotation modes: the reaction OH + CH3SH --> CH3S + H2O as an example

The title reaction has been used as an example to test the importance of using a hindered rotor treatment instead of a harmonic oscillator model for calculating vibrational partition functions corresponding to low-frequency internal rotation modes. First, a normal-mode analysis according to the Ayala and Schlegel's algorithm has been used to identify the internal rotation modes of methanethiol and the transition state structure. Then, after calculation of the energy barrier for each internal rotation, the corresponding hindered rotor partition functions have been calculated following the CW scheme of Chuang and Truhlar. The results show that the anharmonic treatment produces a rather modest improvement of the rate constants at room temperature or below.     

State of Water in Hydration Spheres of Potassium Iodide

Ion hydration has been studied for potassium iodide solutions with concentrations from 0 to 51 wt.% at temperatures from 288.15 to 308.15 K based on ultrasonic measurements and molar adiabatic compressibility data. For hydration complexes, structural characteristics have been determined. The structure of noncoordinated water plays a significant role even in concentrated solutions. An electrostatic ion field has a strong effect on the temperature dependence of the molar volume of hydration water. A method for the precise determination of the total solvation boundary is presented.
