Positively oriented ideal triangulations on hyperbolic three-manifolds

Let M³ be a non-compact hyperbolic 3-manifold that has a triangulation by positively oriented ideal tetrahedra. We show that the gluing variety defined by the gluing consistency equations is a smooth complex manifold with dimension equal to the number of boundary components of M³. Moreover, we show that the complex lengths of any collection of non-trivial boundary curves, one from each boundary component, give a local holomorphic parameterization of the gluing variety. As an application, some estimates for the size of hyperbolic Dehn surgery space of once-punctured torus bundles are given.     

Representations of a Noncommutative Associative Algebra Related to Quantum Torus of Rank Three

In this paper, we present some modules over the rank-three quantized Weyl algebra, which are closely related to modules over some vertex algebras. The isomorphism classes among these modules are also determined.

Global analytic regularity for sums of squares of vector fields

We consider a class of operators in the form of a sum of squares of vector fields with real analytic coefficients on the torus and we show that the zero order term may influence their global analytic hypoellipticity. Also we extend a result of Cordaro-Himonas.

     

Torus Knots and Dunwoody Manifolds

We obtain an explicit representation as Dunwoody manifolds of all cyclic branched coverings of torus knots of type (p,mp±1), with p > 1 and m > 0.     

Exponential growth of the vorticity gradient for the Euler equation on the torus

We prove that there are solutions to the Euler equation on the torus with C^1,α$C^{1,\alpha }$ vorticity and smooth except at one point such that the vorticity gradient grows in L^∞$L^{\infty }$ at least exponentially as t→∞$t\to \infty$. The same result is shown to hold for the vorticity Hessian and smooth solutions. Our proofs use a version of a recent result by Kiselev and Šverák [6].     

A simple proof of the Markoff conjecture for prime powers

We give a simple and independent proof of the result of Jack Button and Paul Schmutz that the Markoff conjecture on the uniqueness of the Markoff triples (a, b, c) where a ≤ b ≤ c holds whenever c is a prime power. We also indicate some further directions for investigation.      

Numerical simulation of the transition to chaos in a dissipative Duffing oscillator with two-frequency excitation

A mathematical modeling technique is proposed for oscillation chaotization in an essentially nonlinear dissipative Duffing oscillator with two-frequency excitation on an invariant torus in ?². The technique is based on the joint application of the parameter continuation method, Floquet stability criteria, bifurcation theory, and the Everhart high-accuracy numerical integration method. This approach is used for the numerical construction of subharmonic solutions in the case when the oscillator passes to chaos through a sequence of period-multiplying bifurcations. The value of a universal constant obtained earlier by the author while investigating oscillation chaotization in dissipative oscillators with single-frequency periodic excitation is confirmed.     

Permutations of tori in integrable Hamiltonian systems and spectral series of pseudodifferential operators

In the present paper, we study integrable Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom, whose regular level sets consist of several Liouville tori, and the bifurcation diagram has an isolated point. We study assumptions under which going around the singular point causes a permutation of the tori. We also consider a quantum analog of this situation and give model examples.
