Comparison of higher-order accurate schemes for solving the two-dimensional unsteady Burgers' equation

This paper is devoted to the testing and comparison of numerical solutions obtained from higher-order accurate finite difference schemes for the two-dimensional Burgers' equation having moderate to severe internal gradients. The fourth-order accurate two-point compact scheme, and the fourth-order accurate Du Fort Frankel scheme are derived. The numerical stability and convergence are presented. The cases of shock waves of severe gradient are solved and checked with the fourth-order accurate Du Fort Frankel scheme solutions. The present study shows that the fourth-order two-point compact scheme is highly stable and efficient in comparison with the fourth-order accurate Du Fort Frankel scheme.     

Submanifolds associated with graphs

In this paper we present an interesting relationship between graph theory and differential geometry by defining submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds associated with certain kinds of graphs. We show some results about the possibility of a graph being associated with a submanifold and we use them to characterize CR-submanifolds by means of trees. Finally, we characterize submanifolds associated with graphs in a four-dimensional almost Hermitian manifold.

The solvability conditions for inverse eigenproblem of symmetric and anti‐persymmetric matrices and its approximation

The problem of generating a matrix A with specified eigen‐pair, where A is a symmetric and anti‐persymmetric matrix, is presented. An existence theorem is given and proved. A general expression of such a matrix is provided. We denote the set of such matrices by ??????_Eⁿ. The optimal approximation problem associated with ??????_Eⁿ is discussed, that is: to find the nearest matrix to a given matrix A* by A∈??????_Eⁿ. Tensor Products of Quantum Structures and Their Applications in Quantum Measurements

Tensor products of quantum logics and effect algebras with some known problems are reviewed. It is noticed that although tensor products of effect algebras having at least one state exist, in the category of complex Hilbert space effect algebras similar problems as with tensor products of projection lattices occur. Nevertheless, if one of the two coupled physical systems is classical, tensor product exists and can be considered as a Boolean power. Some applications of tensor products (in the form of Boolean powers) to quantum measurements are reviewed.
