On the Solvability of the Multidimensional Version of the First Darboux Problem for a Model Second-Order Degenerating Hyperbolic Equation

A multidimensional version of the first Darboux problem is considered for a model second-order degenerating hyperbolic equation. Using the technique of functional spaces with a negative norm, the correct formulation of this problem in the Sobolev weighted space is proved.

How should one define a (weak) crystal?

We compare two proposals for the study of positional long-range order: one in terms of the spectrum of the translation operator, the other in terms of the Fourier spectrum. We point out that only the first one allows for the consideration of molecular, as opposed to atomic, (weakly) periodic structures. We illustrate this point on the Thue-Morse system.     

Some remarks on the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities and applications

We provide some inequalities and integral inequalities connected to the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities for convex functions. In particular, we give some refinements to these inequalities. Some natural applications and further extensions are given.

关于可达矩阵的求法探讨

在《离散数学》、《图论》课程中 ,用矩阵表示图时 ,涉及到一类重要的矩阵——可达矩阵 ,它是判别图中任意两点是否有通路的重要手段 ,也是求强分图的重要方法 ,但是可达矩阵的求法比较复杂 .本文针对这一问题 ,对可达矩阵的求法进行了改进 ,提出了一种简单可行的算法 .     

q-positive definiteness and related operators

We are in progress of extending the family of ‘q-deformed operators’ considered in the previous papers by joining to them q-subnormal as well as q-formally subnormal ones. It turns out that q-positive definiteness, a notion generalizing Halmos' standard positive definiteness of bounded subnormal operators, is likewise central for our new scheme.     

Lipschitz classes on local fields

The Lipschitz class Lipαon a local field K is defined in this note,and the equivalent relationship between the Lipschitz class Lipαand the Holder type space C~α(K)is proved.Then,those important characteristics on the Euclidean space R~n and the local field K are compared,so that one may interpret the essential differences between the analyses on R~n and K.Finally,the Cantor type fractal functionθ(x)is showed in the Lipschitz class Lip(m,K),m＜(ln 2/ln 3).     

Computing strategies for achieving acceptability: A Monte Carlo approach

We consider a trader who wants to direct his or her portfolio towards a set of acceptable wealths given by a convex risk measure. We propose a Monte Carlo algorithm, whose inputs are the joint law of stock prices and the convex risk measure, and whose outputs are the numerical values of initial capital requirement and the functional form of a trading strategy for achieving acceptability. We also prove optimality of the capital obtained. Explicit theoretical evaluations of hedging strategies are extremely difficult, and we avoid the problem by resorting to such computational methods. The main idea is to utilize the finite Vapnik–C?ervonenkis dimension of a class of possible strategies.
