Ising model in a quasiperiodic transverse field,percolation, and contact processes in quasiperiodic environments

Quantum Ising models in a transverse field are related to continuous-time percolation processes whose oriented percolation versions are contact processes. We study such models in the presence of quasiperiodic disorder and prove localization in the ground state, no percolation, and extinction, respectively, for sufficiently large disorder.

An exact, linear solution to the problem of imaging through turbulence

We show how, in principle, to solve the ‘blind deconvolution' problem. This is in the context of the problem of imaging through atmospheric turbulence. The approach is digital but not iterative, and requires as input data but two short-exposure intensity images, without the need for reference point sources. By taking the Fourier transform of each image and dividing, a set of linear equations is generated whose unknowns are sampled values of the two random point spread functions that degraded the images. An oversampling by 50% in Fourier space equalizes the number of unknowns and independent equations. With some prior knowledge of spread function support, and in the absence of added noise of image detection, the inverted equations give exact solutions. The two observed images are then inverse filtered to reconstruct the object.     

On products of unbounded operators

A symmetric operator X^ is attached to each operator X that leaves the domain of a given positive operator A invariant and makes the product AX symmetric. Some spectral properties of X^ are derived from those of X and, as a consequence, various conditions ensuring positivity of products of the form AX ₁ ... X _n are proved. The question of ^-complete positivity of the mapping p → Ap(X ₁,...,X _n) defined on complex polynomials in n variables is investigated. It is shown that the set ω is related to the McIntosh-Pryde joint spectrum of (X ₁,...,X _n) in case all the operators A, X ₁,...,X _n are bounded. 本文研究参数凸二次规划的最优解集的稳定性。首先给出参数数学规划的方向线性稳定的定义，然后利用集值映射的微分理论证明线性约束参数凸二次规划是线性稳定的。     

DYNAMICS OF A NONLINEAR NON-AUTONOMOUS n-PATCHES PREDATOR-PREY DISPERSION-DELAY MODEL

In this paper,a nonlinear nonautonomous predator-prey dispersion model with continuous distributed delay is studied,where all parameters are time-dependent.In this system consisting of n-patches the prey species can disperse among n-patches,but the predator species is confined to one patch and cannot disperse.It is proved that the system is uniformly persistent under any dispersion rate effect.Furthermore,some sufficient conditions are established for the existence of a unique almost periodic solution of the system.The example shows that the criteria in the paper are new,general and easily verifiable.

The Asymptotic Behavior of Certain Birth Processes

We describe a connection between discrete birth process and a certain family of multivariate interpolation polynomials. This enables us to compute all asymptotic moments of the birth process, generalizing previously known results for the mean and variance. Received July 15, 2004
