Heterogeneity is typically the result of space variability of soil parameters at different scales. Soil anisotropy may be defined as the spatial persistence in some direction only, across coarse-grid elements, of heterogeneous structures with different characteristic lengths in different directions. One can account for the effect of these structures by upscaling soil properties. Analyzing flow in a strongly anisotropic structured soil at different scales evidences how transverse dispersion reduces to a subscale process, leading to mixing within the conductive structures. 相似文献

Due to the extensive applications of nonnegative matrix factorizations (NMFs) of nonnegative matrices, such as in image processing, text mining, spectral data analysis, speech processing, etc., algorithms for NMF have been studied for years. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for NMF, which is based on an alternating projected gradient (APG) approach. In particular, no zero entries appear in denominators in our algorithm which implies no breakdown occurs, and even if some zero entries appear in numerators new updates can always be improved in our algorithm. It is shown that the effect of our algorithm is better than that of Lee and Seung’s algorithm when we do numerical experiments on two known facial databases and one iris database. 相似文献

In this paper, under assumption that tempeature is linearly distributed along the thickness of the shell, we deal with problems as indicated in the title and obtain general solutions of them which are expressed in analytic form.In the first part, we investigate free vibration of circular shallow spherical shells with circular holes at the center under usual arbitrary boundary conditions. As an example, we calculate fundamental natural frequency of a circular shallow spherical shell whose edge is fixed (m=0). Results we get are expressed in analytic form and check well with E. Reissner’s [1]. Method for calculating frequency equation is recently suggested by Chien Wei-zang and is to be introduced in appendix 3.In the second part, we investigate forced vibration of shells as indicated in the title under arbitrary harmonic temperature field and arbitrary harmonic dynamic normal load.In the third part, we investigate forced vibration of the above mentioned shells with initial conditions under arbitrary unsteady temperature field and arbitrary normal load.In appendix 1 and 2, we discuss how to express displacement boundary conditions with stress function and boundary conditions in the case m=1. 相似文献

An infection‐age virus dynamics model for human immunodeficiency virus (or hepatitis B virus) infections with saturation effects of infection rate and immune response is investigated in this paper. It is shown that the global dynamics of the model is completely determined by two critical values R 0, the basic reproductive number for viral infection, and R 1, the viral reproductive number at the immune‐free infection steady state (R 1<R 0). If R 0<1, the uninfected steady state E 0 is globally asymptotically stable; if R 0>1 > R 1, the immune‐free infected steady state E ? is globally asymptotically stable; while if R 1>1, the antibody immune infected steady state is globally asymptotically stable. Moreover, our results show that ignoring the saturation effects of antibody immune response or infection rate will result in an overestimate of the antibody immune reproductive number. We consider the application of a four‐dimensional variational data assimilation method to a numerical model, which employs local mesh refinement to improve its solution. We focus on structured meshes where a high‐resolution grid is embedded in a coarser resolution one, which covers the entire domain. The formulation of the nested variational data assimilation algorithm was derived in a preliminary work (Int. J. Numer. Meth. Fluids 2008; under review). We are interested here in complementary theoretical aspects. We present first a model for the multi‐grid background error covariance matrix. Then, we propose a variant of our algorithms based on the addition of control variables in the inter‐grid transfers in order to allow for a reduction of the errors linked to the interactions between the grids. Polydisperse hyperbranched polyesters were modified for use as novel multifunctional reversible addition–fragmentation chain‐transfer (RAFT) agents. The polyester‐core‐based RAFT agents were subsequently employed to synthesize star polymers of n‐butyl acrylate and styrene with low polydispersity (polydispersity index < 1.3) in a living free‐radical process. Although the polyester‐core‐based RAFT agent mediated polymerization of n‐butyl acrylate displayed a linear evolution of the number‐average molecular weight (Mn) up to high monomer conversions (>70%) and molecular weights [Mn > 140,000 g mol?1, linear poly(methyl methacrylate) equivalents)], the corresponding styrene‐based system reached a maximum molecular weight at low conversions (≈30%, Mn = 45,500 g mol?1, linear polystyrene equivalents). The resulting star polymers were subsequently used as platforms for the preparation of star block copolymers of styrene and n‐butyl acrylate with a polyester core with low polydispersities (polydispersity index < 1.25). The generated polystyrene‐based star polymers were successfully cast into highly regular honeycomb‐structured microarrays. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
