Some remarks on the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities and applications

We provide some inequalities and integral inequalities connected to the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities for convex functions. In particular, we give some refinements to these inequalities. Some natural applications and further extensions are given.

A closed-form representation of mixed-integer program value functions

We identify a class of formulas computable in polynomial time such that the functions defined by these formulas are precisely the value functions of mixed-integer programs with rational constraint coefficients.

Cell transfer and monomial positivity

We give combinatorial proofs that certain families of differences of products of Schur functions are monomial-positive. We show in addition that such monomial-positivity is to be expected of a large class of generating functions with combinatorial definitions similar to Schur functions. These generating functions are defined on posets with labelled Hasse diagrams and include for example generating functions of Stanley's (P,ω)-partitions. Relations among eigenvalues of Sturm-Liouville problems with different types of leading coefficient functions

For any Sturm-Liouville problem with a separable boundary condition and whose leading coefficient function changes sign (exactly once), we first give a geometric characterization of its eigenvalues λn using the eigenvalues of some corresponding problems with a definite leading coefficient function. Consequences of this characterization include simple proofs of the existence of the λn's, their Prüfer angle characterization, and a way for determining their indices from the zeros of their eigenfunctions. Then, interlacing relations among the λn's and the eigenvalues of the corresponding problems are obtained. Using these relations, a simple proof of asymptotic formulas for the λn's is given.     

Shape preservation regions for six-dimensional spaces

We analyze the critical length for design purposes of six-dimensional spaces invariant under translations and reflections containing the functions 1, cos t and sin t. These spaces also contain the first degree polynomials as well as trigonometric and/or hyperbolic functions. We identify the spaces whose critical length for design purposes is greater than 2π and find its maximum 4π. By a change of variables, two biparametric families of spaces arise. We call shape preservation region to the set of admissible parameters in order that the space has shape preserving representations for curves. We describe the shape preserving regions for both families. Normal families and exceptional functions

In this paper, we obtain some normality criteria for families of meromorphic functions that concern the exceptional functions of derivatives.     

Metaplectic Representation of ospq(1/2) Algebra and Basic Hypergeometric Functions

In this paper we use the bosonic realization of osp_q(1/2) algebra to obtain its metaplectic representation. The group element for this algebra is shown to be described in terms of the basic hypergeometric function.     

Excess enthalpy of ternary mixture for diamine+heptane+cyclohexan

The excess molar enthalpy of ternary mixture for 3-diethylaminopropylamine+heptane+cyclohexane were measured using a Calvet microcalorimeter at 303.15 K. Empirical equations, Redlich-Kister, Tsao-Smith, and Kohler and group contribution models, UNIFAC (modified version) and DISQUAC have been applied. A reasonable representation of ternary data is obtained. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

On meromorphic functions that share three values of finite weights

A uniqueness theorem for two distinct non-constant meromorphic functions that share three values of finite weights is proved, which generalizes two previous results by H.X. Yi, and X.M. Li and H.X. Yi. As applications of it, many known results by H.X. Yi and P. Li, etc. could be improved. Furthermore, with the concept of finite-weight sharing, extensions on Osgood-Yang's conjecture and Mues' conjecture, and a generalization of some prevenient results by M. Ozawa and H. Ueda, ect. could be obtained.
