Recent studies on phosphorus-bridging carbonyl derivatives: organophosphorus analogs of aldehydes and ketones

Reactions of disodium tetracarbonylferrate, Na₂Fe(CO)₄, with sterically hindered dialkylaminodichlorophosphines, R₂NPCl₂ (R₂N=diisopropylamino, dicyclohexylamino, and 2,2, 6, 6-tetramethylpiperidino) in diethyl ether lead to the air-stable phosphorus-bridging carbonyl derivatives (R₂NP)₂COFe₂(CO)₆ as the major products. The phosphorus-bridging carbonyl group in (i-Pr₂NP)₂COFe₂(CO)₆ has been found to undergo the following types of reactions: 1)Reduction, 2)Acylation, 3)Extrusion of the carbonyl group. Differential geometry of tensor product immersions

In this article we obtain the best possible estimates of the type number of tensor product immersions and investigate tensor product immersions with lowest possible type. Several classification theorems in this respect are then proved.     

Effect of a thermal radiation field on the γ-luminescence of alkali-silicate glass

We revealed the changes in the γ-luminescence spectra under the influence of a thermal radiation field on high-purity alkali-silicate glasses (I) and those with addition of Fe³⁺ ions (II). We explain the obtained results within the framework of the L-model of edge absorption and electron-hole recombination processes. Ocean surface films measured by interferential microwave probe

Summary Measurements on sea surface films were conducted during five separate experimental periods in the following marine areas: the Sicilian Channel, the Gulf of Maine (spring and fall periods), Bermuda, and the Pacific Ocean West of Southern California. The measurements consisted in surface elevation sampling using an interferential microwave probe with frequency spectra evaluation. Wave spectra were performed for both clean and film-covered sea surface conditions to determine the wave attenuation ratio within the 2–20 Hz spectral range. The method is able to detect, chart and characterize sea surface films. Theoretical analyses of the results yield several viscoelastic film parameters: the modulus of elasticity, the relaxation frequency and the maximum of the damping ratio as a function of wave frequency. The analysed data are interpreted to infer film weathering effects, surface concentration of film-forming constituents, and compactness of the organic sea surface film.

添加助剂的钙钛矿型氧化物NdMO_3上的甲烷氧化偶联——Ⅱ.15% Li_2O/NdMO_3(M=Cr、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni)上的OCM反应研究

在添加了15%Li_2O的NdMO_3(M=Cr、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni)上进行了甲烷氧化偶联(OCM)反应研究.通过改变反应气中CH_4:O_2浓度比,在氧化态和“脱氧态”催化剂上的CH_4脉冲反应,探讨了表面吸附氧和晶格氧在OCM反应中的作用以及NdMO_3中不同金属离子(M)对OCM反应活性的影响等.     

Proof of the Mixing Theorem for Statistical Systems in Classical Physics

In a general measure-theoretic context, it is proved that the action of a stochastic map on a pair of probability distributions can be characterized by the criterion of decreasing mixing distance.     

Degeneracy in NLP and the development of results motivated by its presence

We study notions of nondegeneracy and several levels of increasing degeneracy from the perspective of the local behavior of a local solution of a nonlinear program when problem parameters are slightly perturbed. Ideal nondegeneracy at a local minimizer is taken to mean satisfaction of second order sufficient conditions, linear independence and strict complimentary slackness. Following a brief exploration of the relationship of these conditions with the classical definition of nondegeneracy in linear programming, we recall a number of optimality and regularity conditions used to attempt to resolve degeneracy and survey results of Fiacco, McCormick, Robinson, Kojima, Gauvin and Janin, Shapiro, Kyparisis and Liu. This overview may be viewed as a structured survey of sensitivity and stability results: the focus is on progressive levels of degeneracy. We note connections of nondegeneracy with the convergence of algorithms and observe the striking parallel between the effects of nondegeneracy and degeneracy on optimality conditions, stability analysis and algorithmic convergence behavior. Although our orientation here is primarily interpretive and noncritical, we conclude that more effort is needed to unify optimality, stability and convergence theory and more results are needed in all three areas for radically degenerate problems.Research supported by National Science Foundation Grant ECS 90-00560 and Grant N00014-89-J-1537 Office of Naval Research
