Although a few new results are presented, this is mainly a review article on the relationship between finite-dimensional quantum mechanics and finite groups. The main motivation for this discussion is the hidden subgroup problem of quantum computation theory. A unifying role is played by a mathematical structure that we call a Hilbert *-algebra. After reviewing material on unitary representations of finite groups we discuss a generalized quantum Fourier transform. Under certain conditions, which hold, for example, when the form is nonsingular and the module is projective of rank 6 and contains a unimodular vector, we describe all subgroups of the symplectic group which are normalized by symplectic transvections. In this paper, we investigate the finite groups all of whose non-normal nilpotent subgroups are cyclic. We show that such groups are solvable with cyclic centers. If G is a non-supersolvable group, then G has only one non-cyclic Sylow subgroup which is either isomorphic to Q8 or is of type (q, q).  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A cover for a group G is a collection of proper subgroups whose union is the whole group G. A cover is irredundant if no proper sub-collection is also a cover, and is called maximal if all its members are maximal subgroups. For an integer n > 2, a cover with n members is called an n-cover. Also, we denote σ (G) = n if G has an n-cover and does not have any m-cover for each integer m < n. In this article, we completely characterize groups with a maximal irredundant 6-cover with core-free intersection. As an application of this result, we characterize the groups G with σ (G) = 6. The intersection of an irredundant n-cover is known to have index bounded by a function of n, though in general the precise bound is not known. We also prove that the exact bound is 36 when n is 6.  相似文献

Let G be a group and let N be a normal subgroup of G. We set cd(G|N) to be the degrees of the irreducible characters of G whose kernels do not contain N. We associate a graph with this set. The vertices of this graph are the primes dividing degrees in cd(G|N), and there is an edge between p and q if pq divides some degree in cd(G|N). In this paper, we study this graph when it is disconnected, and we study its diameter when it is connected.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the following theorem: Let p be a prime number, P a Sylow psubgroup of a group G and π = π(G) / {p}. If P is seminormal in G, then the following statements hold: 1) G is a p-soluble group and P' ≤ Op(G); 2) lp(G) ≤ 2 and lπ(G) ≤ 2; 3) if a π-Hall subgroup of G is q-supersoluble for some q ∈ π, then G is q-supersoluble.  相似文献
