Dynamic data structures for fat objects and their applications

We present several efficient dynamic data structures for point-enclosure queries, involving convex fat objects in or. Our planar structures are actually fitted for a more general class of objects – (β,δ)-covered objects – which are not necessarily convex, see definition below. These structures are more efficient than alternative known structures, because they exploit the fatness of the objects. We then apply these structures to obtain efficient solutions to two problems: (i) finding a perfect containment matching between a set of points and a set of convex fat objects, and (ii) finding a piercing set for a collection of convex fat objects, whose size is optimal up to some constant factor.

Contractibility and Connectedness of Efficient Point Sets

Using the technique of space theory and set-valued analysis, we establish contractibility results for efficient point sets in a locally convex space and a path connectedness result for a positive proper efficient point set in a reflexive space. We also prove a connectedness result for a positive proper efficient point set in a locally convex space; as an application, we give a connectedness result for an efficient solution set in a locally convex space.     

A Five-term Exact Sequence for Opext of Crossed Modules in Lie Algebras

Extensions of crossed modules in Lie algebras with abelian kernel are studied, particularly backward and forward induced extensions and related properties. The set Opext((U, Q, ), (R, K, )) of congruence classes of extensions of (R, K, ) by (U, Q, ) is endowed with a K-vector space structure. This K-vector space appears in a five-term natural and exact sequence associated with an extension of crossed modules.2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 17B56, 17B99, 18G99     

A new semifield of order 2

In [G. Lunardon, Semifields and linear sets of PG(1,q^t), Quad. Mat., Dept. Math., Seconda Univ. Napoli, Caserta (in press)], G. Lunardon has exhibited a construction method yielding a theoretical family of semifields of order q²ⁿ,n>1 and n odd, with left nucleus F_qⁿ, middle and right nuclei both F_q² and center F_q. When n=3 this method gives an alternative construction of a family of semifields described in [N.L. Johnson, G. Marino, O. Polverino, R. Trombetti, On a generalization of cyclic semifields, J. Algebraic Combin. 26 (2009), 1-34], which generalizes the family of cyclic semifields obtained by Jha and Johnson in [V. Jha, N.L. Johnson, Translation planes of large dimension admitting non-solvable groups, J. Geom. 45 (1992), 87-104]. For n>3, no example of a semifield belonging to this family is known.In this paper we first prove that, when n>3, any semifield belonging to the family introduced in the second work cited above is not isotopic to any semifield of the family constructed in the former. Then we construct, with the aid of a computer, a semifield of order 2¹⁰ belonging to the family introduced by Lunardon, which turns out to be non-isotopic to any other known semifield.

关于测度稠密性与测度半稠密性的几个定理

提出了测度空间（ＸＡ，）中测度稠密性和测度半稠密性的两个概念，在给定条件下证明了集代数ＦＡ在（Ｆ）中的测度稠密性及半集代数ＳＡ在（Ｓ）中的测度半稠密性；并将所得结果应用于线性赋范空间［ａ，ｂ］的可分性的证明。
