Restricted algebras on inverse semigroups I,representation theory

The relation between representations and positive definite functions is a key concept in harmonic analysis on topological groups. Recently this relation has been studied on topological groupoids. This is the first in a series of papers in which we have investigated a similar relation on inverse semigroups. We use a new concept of “restricted” representations and study the restricted semigroup algebras and corresponding C *‐algebras. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)     

Existence and nonexistence of hypercyclic semigroups

In these notes we provide a new proof of the existence of a hypercyclic uniformly continuous semigroup of operators on any separable infinite-dimensional Banach space that is very different from--and considerably shorter than--the one recently given by Bermúdez, Bonilla and Martinón. We also show the existence of a strongly dense family of topologically mixing operators on every separable infinite-dimensional Fréchet space. This complements recent results due to Bès and Chan. Moreover, we discuss the Hypercyclicity Criterion for semigroups and we give an example of a separable infinite-dimensional locally convex space which supports no supercyclic strongly continuous semigroup of operators.

     

Some fixed point results on L-embedded Banach spaces

In this paper we prove that w-fixed point property and w^★-fixed point property are equivalent concepts for L-embedded Banach spaces which are duals of M-embedded spaces. Similar results will be obtained with respect to the normal structure. These equivalences will be applied to establish new fixed point results for different examples. We will also prove the existence of fixed points for both nonexpansive and asymptotically regular mappings defined on subsets of L-embedded Banach spaces which are sequentially compact for the abstract measure topology. We will check that our results do not hold in the case of the weak topology.     

General Regular Variation of the n-th Order and 2nd Order Edgeworth Expansions of the Extreme Value Distribution （Ⅱ）

In this part II the fundamental inequality of the third order general regular variation is proved and the second order Edgeworth expansion of the distribution of the extreme values is discussed.

Weak stability of almost regular contact foliations

We prove that on a compact manifold, a contact foliation obtained by a smallC ¹ perturbation of an almost regular contact flow has at least two closed characteristics. 我们首先证明，若S^*,S^o是正则半群S的两个纯正断面，σ^*,σ^o分别是S^*,S^o上的最小逆半群同余，则商半群S^*/σ^o同构。作为上述结论的一个推论，重新获得：含逆断面的正则半群的所有逆断面均同构。关于富足半群我们证明了：满足正则性条件的富足半群若含有似理想恰当断面，则其所有拟理想恰当断面均同构。
