The properties of monomials, homogeneous polynomials and harmonic polynomials in d-dimensional spaces are discussed. The properties are shown to lead to formulas for the canonical decomposition of homogeneous polynomials and formulas for harmonic projection. Many important properties of spherical harmonics, Gegenbauer polynomials and hyperspherical harmonics follow from these formulas. Harmonic projection also provides alternative ways of treating angular momentum and generalised angular momentum. Several powerful theorems for angular integration and hyperangular integration can be derived in this way. These purely mathematical considerations have important physical applications because hyperspherical harmonics are related to Coulomb Sturmians through the Fock projection, and because both Sturmians and generalised Sturmians have shown themselves to be extremely useful in the quantum theory of atoms and molecules.  相似文献

The asymptotic contracted measure of zeros of a large class of orthogonal polynomials is explicitly given in the form of a Lauricella function. The polynomials are defined by means of a three-term recurrence relation whose coefficients may be unbounded but vary regularly and have a different behaviour for even and odd indices. Subclasses of systems of orthogonal polynomials having their contracted measure of zeros of regular, uniform, Wigner, Weyl, Karamata and hypergeometric types are explicitly identified. A numerical method for solving the high‐order linear differential equations with variable coefficients under the mixed conditions is presented. The method is based on the hybrid Legendre and Taylor polynomials. The solution is obtained in terms of Legendre polynomials. Comparison of the present solution is made with the existing solution and excellent agreement is noted. We derive the expressions of the ordinary, the vertex‐weighted and the doubly vertex‐weighted Wiener polynomials of a type of thorn graph, for which the number of pendant edges attached to any vertex of the underlying parent graph is a linear function of its degree. In this article, we provide predictable and chaotic representations for Itô–Markov additive processes X. Such a process is governed by a finite-state continuous time Markov chain J which allows one to modify the parameters of the Itô-jump process (in so-called regime switching manner). In addition, the transition of J triggers the jump of X distributed depending on the states of J just prior to the transition. This family of processes includes Markov modulated Itô–Lévy processes and Markov additive processes. The derived chaotic representation of a square-integrable random variable is given as a sum of stochastic integrals with respect to some explicitly constructed orthogonal martingales. We identify the predictable representation of a square-integrable martingale as a sum of stochastic integrals of predictable processes with respect to Brownian motion and power-jumps martingales related to all the jumps appearing in the model. This result generalizes the seminal result of Jacod–Yor and is of importance in financial mathematics. The derived representation then allows one to enlarge the incomplete market by a series of power-jump assets and to price all market-derivatives.  相似文献

Two finite hypergeometric sequences of symmetric orthogonal polynomials of a discrete variable are introduced and their standard properties, such as second-order difference equations, explicit forms of the polynomials and three term recurrence relations are obtained. We design a non-commutative version of the Peterson–Gorenstein–Zierler decoding algorithm for a class of codes that we call skew RS codes. These codes are left ideals of a quotient of a skew polynomial ring, which endow them of a sort of non-commutative cyclic structure. Since we work over an arbitrary field, our techniques may be applied both to linear block codes and convolutional codes. In particular, our decoding algorithm applies for block codes beyond the classical cyclic case.  相似文献
