The Stokes operator is a differential-integral operator induced by the Stokes equations. In this paper, we analyze the Stokes operator from the point of view of the Helmholtz minimum dissipation principle. We show that, through the Hodge orthogonal decomposition, a pair of bounded linear operators, a restriction operator and an extension operator, are induced from the divergence-free constraint. As a consequence, we use it to calculate the eigenvalues of the Stokes operator. 相似文献

Exponential separation and invariant bundles for maps in ordered Banach spaces with applications to parabolic equations 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
A vector bundle morphism of a vector bundle with strongly ordered Banach spaces as fibers is studied. It is assumed that the fiber maps of this morphism are compact and strongly positive. The existence of two complementary, dimension-one and codimension-one, continuous subbundles invariant under the morphism is established. Each fiber of the first bundle is spanned by a positive vector (that is, a nonzero vector lying in the order cone), while the fibers of the other bundle do not contain a positive vector. Moreover, the ratio between the norms of the components (given by the splitting of the bundle) of iterated images of any vector in the bundle approaches zero exponentially (if the positive component is in the denominator). This is an extension of the Krein-Rutman theorem which deals with one compact strongly positive map only. The existence of invariant bundles with the above properties appears to be very useful in the investigation of asymptotic behavior of trajectories of strongly monotone discrete-time dynamical systems, as demonstrated by Poláik and Tereák (Arch. Ration. Math. Anal.

Augmented upwind numerical schemes for the groundwater transport advection‐dispersion equation with local operators 下载免费PDF全文
When solute transport is advection‐dominated, the advection‐dispersion equation approximates to a hyperbolic‐type partial differential equation, and finite difference and finite element numerical approximation methods become prone to artificial oscillations. The upwind scheme serves to correct these responses to produce a more realistic solution. The upwind scheme is reviewed and then applied to the advection‐dispersion equation with local operators for the first‐order upwinding numerical approximation scheme. The traditional explicit and implicit schemes, as well as the Crank‐Nicolson scheme, are developed and analyzed for numerical stability to form a comparison base. Two new numerical approximation schemes are then proposed, namely, upwind–Crank‐Nicolson scheme, where only for the advection term is applied, and weighted upwind‐downwind scheme. These newly developed schemes are analyzed for numerical stability and compared to the traditional schemes. It was found that an upwind–Crank‐Nicolson scheme is appropriate if the Crank‐Nicolson scheme is only applied to the advection term of the advection‐dispersion equation. Furthermore, the proposed explicit weighted upwind‐downwind finite difference numerical scheme is an improvement on the traditional explicit first‐order upwind scheme, whereas the implicit weighted first‐order upwind‐downwind finite difference numerical scheme is stable under all assumptions when the appropriate weighting factor (θ) is assigned. 相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the notion of generalized spherical Aluthge transforms for commuting pairs of operators and study nontrivial joint invariant (resp. hyperinvariant) subspaces between the generalized spherical Aluthge transform and the original commuting pair. Next, we study the norm continuity through generalized Aluthge transform maps. We also study how the Taylor spectra and the Fredrolm index of commuting pairs of operators behave under the spherical Duggal transform. Finally, we introduce the notion of Campbell binormality for commuting pairs of operators and investigate some of its basic properties under spherical Aluthge and Duggal transforms. Moreover, we obtain new set inclusion diagrams among normal, quasinormal, centered, and Campbell binormal commuting pairs of operators. 相似文献
