The existence of a saddle point in nonconvex constrained optimization problems is considered in this paper. We show that, under some mild conditions, the existence of a saddle point can be ensured in an equivalent p-th power formulation for a general class of nonconvex constrained optimization problems. This result expands considerably the class of optimization problems where a saddle point exists and thus enlarges the family of nonconvex problems that can be solved by dual-search methods. 相似文献

We study the flow of two immiscible and incompressible fluids through a porous media c,onsisting of different rock types: capillary pressure and relative permeablities curves are different in each type of porous media. This process can be formulated as a coupled system of partial differential equations which includes an elliptic pressurevelocity equation and a nonlinear degenerated parabolic saturation equation. Moreover the transmission conditions are nonlinear and the saturation is discontinuous at interfaces separating different media. A change of unknown leads to a new formulation of this problem. We derive a weak form for this new problem, which is a combination of a mixed formulation for the elliptic pressure-velocity equation and a standard variational formulation for the new parabolic equation. Smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method has been extensively used to simulate unsteady free surface flows. The works dedicated to simulation of unsteady internal flows have been generally performed to study the transient start up of steady flows under constant driving forces and for low Reynolds number regimes. However, most of the fluid flow phenomena are unsteady by nature and at moderate to high Reynolds numbers. In this study, first a benchmark case (transient Poiseuille flow) is simulated to evaluate the ability of SPH to simulate internal transient flows at low and moderate Reynolds numbers (Re = 0.05, 500 and 1500). For this benchmark case, the performance of the two most commonly used formulations for viscous term modeling is investigated, as well as the effect of using the XSPH variant. Some points regarding using the symmetric form for pressure gradient modeling are also briefly discussed. Then, the application of SPH is extended to oscillating flows imposed by oscillating body force (Womersley type flow) and oscillating moving boundary (Stokes’ second problem) at different frequencies and amplitudes. There is a very good agreement between SPH results and exact solution even if there is a large phase lag between the oscillating pressure difference and moving boundary and the movement of the SPH particles generated. Finally, a modified formulation for wall shear stress calculations is suggested and verified against exact solutions. In all presented cases, the spatial convergence analysis is performed. 相似文献

A strip-saturation model is proposed for a transversely isotropic piezoelectric plane weakened by two collinear equal cracks, when developed saturation zones at the interior tips of the cracks get coalesced. The plane is subjected to unidirectional, normal (to the crack length) in-plane tension and electric displacement. The developed saturation zones are arrested by distributing over their rims the normal, cohesive, unidirectional saturation-limit electrical displacement. The solution is obtained using Stroh formulation and complex variable technique. Closed form expressions are derived for crack opening displacement (COD), crack potential drop (COP), field intensity factors, length of saturation zone, energy release rate. Case study carried out for PZT-4 to show the effects of inter-crack distance on the stress intensity factor. The variations of energy release rates are plotted for PZT-4, PZT-5H and BaTiO3 to study the effects of the geometry of the two cracks. 相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new variant of the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), namely the Two-Stage Vehicle Routing Problem with Arc Time Windows (TS_VRP_ATWs) which generally emerges from both military and civilian transportation. The TS_VRP_ATW is defined as finding the vehicle routes in such a way that each arc of the routes is available only during a predefined time interval with the objective of overall cost minimization. We propose a Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) formulation and a heuristic approach based on Memetic Algorithm (MA) to solve the TS_VRP_ATW. The qualities of both solution approaches are measured by using the test problems in the literature. Experimental results show that the proposed MIP formulation provides the optimal solutions for the test problems with 25 and 50 nodes, and some test problems with 100 nodes. Results also show that the proposed MA is promising quality solutions in a short computation time. 相似文献
