The technological needs imposed by the exponential miniaturization trend of conventional electronic devices has drawn attention towards the development of smaller and faster devices like ultrafast molecular switches. In recent years molecular switches emerge again in the focus of active and innovative research with state-of-the-art optical tools recording their dynamics in real time. Still many questions about the underlying microscopic mechanism are left open, including potential factors that effect the switching process in either way, improve or worsen it. Due to the complexity of such molecules it is difficult to obtain a global answer from experiment alone. On the other side molecular switches are generally too large for a complete quantum chemical and quantum dynamical calculation. In our group we therefore developed an ab initio based modular model to handle the laser induced quantum dynamics in molecular switches like fulgides. It enables us to study the effect of internal molecular coupling and of the molecular response to external fields. We can investigate the related wave packet dynamics, the switching efficiency and the controllability. Our results focus on the laser induced ring opening in fulgides, which equals one direction of the switching process. Presented are the influence of a conical intersection seam and of time-dependent potentials, mimicking the mean interaction with the environment. Furthermore the relation of controllability and the wave packet's momentum is studied and the influence of potential barriers on the switching dynamics is shown. 相似文献

Solid-state 2H NMR spectroscopy is a well-established and versatile method to study molecular orientation and dynamics in selectively deuterated samples. Herein, we introduce a 2D 2H double-quantum (DQ) NMR experiment performed under fast magic-angle spinning with a slight offset of the magic angle (OMAS). The experiment combines 2H chemical-shift resolution with DQ-filtered quasistatic 2H line shapes. In this way, it is possible to separate 2H resonances and to independently determine 2H quadrupole couplings at multiple sites. While 2H chemical shifts are resolved in the 2H DQ dimension, the quadrupole parameters can be obtained from characteristic line shapes which are reintroduced in the second dimension by the magic-angle offset. The 2D 2H DQ OMAS experiment is demonstrated on L-histidine which was deuterated at multiple sites by recrystallisation from D2O. 相似文献

The development of theoretical tools for the study of dynamical phenomena of many-particle systems on the quantum level is a fundamental challenge since many decades. A lot of efforts have been invested on Feynman's path integral approach, however, no computationally tractable method for investigating realistic systems could be developed up to now. In this paper we propose an alternative representation of the real-time many-body evolution operator formulated within the framework of the auxiliary field formalism. Our goal is to derive a new auxiliary field functional integral representation, in which the large oscillations of the functional integrand are reduced, in order to render the auxiliary field approach more attractive for real-time computation. This objective is attained using a generalized version of the method of Gaussian equivalent representation of Efimov and Ganbold [Phys. Stat. Sol. 168 (1991) 165], which eliminates the low-order fluctuations of the auxiliary field from the interaction functional. 相似文献

Electron affinity of plasma embedded muonium (μ+e?) and pionium (π+e?) has been estimated using a general three‐body formalism within variational framework. Electron correlation is taken care of using extended Hylleraas basis sets. The stability of the three‐body systems have been studied under the Debye screening model of the plasma, which changes the Coulombic potential to the screened Coulomb one. The electron affinity of the muonium and pionium is maximum for free systems, and it decreases gradually toward zero with increase of the plasma strength, which tends to push the three‐body system toward gradual instability. The insect spruce budworm(Choristoneura fumiferana) produces antifreeze protein(AFP) to assist in the protection of the over-wintering larval stage and contains multiple isoforms. Structures for two isoforms,known as CfAFP-501 and CfAFP-337,show that both possess similar left-handed β-helical structure,although thermal hysteresis activity of the longer isoform CfAFP-501 is three times that of CfAFP-337. The markedly enhanced activity of CfAFP-501 is not proportional to,and cannot be simply accounted for,by the increased ice-binding site resulting from the two extra coils in CfAFP-501. In or-der to investigate the molecular basis for the activity difference and gain better understanding of AFPs in general,we have employed several different computational methods to systematically study the structural properties and ice interactions of the AFPs and their deletion models. In the context of intact AFPs,a majority of the coils in CfAFP-501 has better ice interaction and causes stronger ice lattice disruption than CfAFP-337,strongly suggesting a cooperative or synergistic effect among β-helical coils. The synergistic effect would play a critical role and make significant contributions to the anti-freeze activity β-helical antifreeze proteins. This is the first time that synergistic effect and its implica-tion for antifreeze activity are reported for β-helical antifreeze proteins. 相似文献

The decomposition reaction dynamics of 2,3,4,4′,5‐penta‐chlorinated biphenyl (2,3,4,4′,5‐PeCB), 3,3′,4,4′,5‐penta‐chlorinated biphenyl (3,3′,4,4′,5‐PeCB), and 2,3,7,8‐tetra‐chlorinated dibenzo‐p‐dioxin (2,3,7,8‐TCDD) was clarified for the first time at atomic and electronic levels, using our novel tight‐binding quantum chemical molecular dynamics method with first‐principles parameterization. The calculation speed of our new method is over 5000 times faster than that of the conventional first‐principles molecular dynamics method. We confirmed that the structure, energy, and electronic states of the above molecules calculated by our new method are quantitatively consistent with those by first‐principles calculations. After the confirmation of our methodology, we investigated the decomposition reaction dynamics of the above molecules and the calculated dynamic behaviors indicate that the oxidation of the 2,3,4,4′,5‐PeCB, 3,3′,4,4′,5‐PeCB, and 2,3,7,8‐TCDD proceeds through an epoxide intermediate, which is in good agreement with the previous experimental reports and consistent with our static density functional theory calculations. These results proved that our new tight‐binding quantum chemical molecular dynamics method with first‐principles parameterization is an effective tool to clarify the chemical reaction dynamics at reaction temperatures. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Isolated polyfluorobenzene (PFB) molecules and their protonated forms are investigated by the AM1 method with full geometry optimization. The proton affinities of PFB are estimated for different protonated positions. The proton affinity of PFB averaged over all isomers is shown to decrease monotonically as the number of fluorine atoms in the molecule increases. The relative populations of different isomers of arenonium ions (AI) formed by PFB protonation are determined. From the calculated data, the value of + for the F atom in theipso-position is estimated as 1.00. The activation energies of the 1,2-hydrogen shifts in AI are calculated. The dependences of the proton affinity and the activation energies of 1,2-hydrogen shifts on the number of halogen atoms are found to have distinct characters for PFB and polychlorobenzenes. introduced in our previous paper (I.I. Guseinov, J. Phys. B, 3 (1970) 1399). The recurrence relations for auxiliary functions are useful for the calculation of multicenter EA, EF and EFG integrals for arbitrary integer and noninteger values of principal quantum numbers, screening constants, and location of slater-type orbitals.
