An expansion in the exponent for compound binomial approximations

The purpose of this paper is two-fold. First, we introduce a new asymptotic expansion in the exponent for the compound binomial approximation of the generalized Poisson binomial distribution. The dependence of its accuracy on the symmetry and shifting of distributions is investigated. Second, for compound binomial and compound Poisson distributions, we present new smoothness estimates, some of which contain explicit constants. Finally, the ideas used in this paper enable us to prove new precise bounds in the compound Poisson approximation. Degree distribution of the greatest common divisor of polynomials over 𝔽q

We study the degree distribution of the greatest common divisor of two or more random polynomials over a finite field ??_q. We provide estimates for several parameters like number of distinct common irreducible factors, number of irreducible factors counting repetitions, and total degree of the gcd of two or more polynomials. We show that the limiting distribution of a random variable counting the total degree of the gcd is geometric and that the distributions of random variables counting the number of common factors (with and without repetitions) are very close to Poisson distributions when q is large. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Bayesian Probabilities and the Histories Algebra

We attempt a justification of a generalisation of the consistent histories programme using a notion of probability that is valid for all complete sets of history propositions. This consists of introducing Cox's axioms of probability theory and showing that our candidate notion of probability obeys them. We also give a generalisation of Bayes' theorem and comment upon how Bayesianism should be useful for the quantum gravity/cosmology programmes. PACS: 02.50.Cw;03.65.Ta;04.60.-m.

基于两种概率的区分，推导出了一个广义Shannon熵公式和一个广义互信息公式。后者和模糊性有关，并且柯用于语言和感觉中的信息度量。为了由原子语句为真的条件概率求出合语句为真的条件概率，提出了一个遵循存尔运算的模糊集合代数。所谓的模糊信息被还原为概率信息。新的理论在经典理论－概率论，集合论及Shannon信息论－的基础上容易理解。     

Discrete approximation of integral operators

A method to approximate the eigenvalues of linear operators depending on an unknown distribution is introduced and applied to weighted sums of squared normally distributed random variables. This area of application includes the approximation of the asymptotic null distribution of certain degenerated U- and V-statistics.

Nonlinear stability of incoherence and collective synchronization in a population of coupled oscillators

A mean-field model of nonlinearly coupled oscillators with randomly distributed frequencies and subject to independent external white noises is analyzed in the thermodynamic limit. When the frequency distribution isbimodal, new results include subcritical spontaneous stationary synchronization of the oscillators, supercritical time-periodic synchronization, bistability, and hysteretic phenomena. Bifurcating synchronized states are asymptotically constructed near bifurcation values of the coupling strength, and theirnonlinear stability properties ascertained.

本工作用x射线衍射技术分析计算了二种天然树脂的局部结构参数,由测得的衍射强度数据求出了它们的结构因子I(r)和径向分布函数RDF(r),并由此得到了分子链内临近原子和次临近原子平均间距、配位数和短程有序畴。
