The Going Green! Middle Schoolers Out to Save the World project aims to direct middle school students' enthusiasm for hands‐on activities toward interest in science and other STEM areas while guiding them to solve real‐world problems. Students in this project are taught by their teachers to use energy monitoring equipment to audit standby power consumed by electronic devices in their homes and communities. Major findings were: (a) Beliefs in climate change increased more for students in the treatment than comparison group, pre to post; and (b) For girls there was a larger positive impact on climate change beliefs than for boys. These and additional findings presented in this paper provide evidence that a hands‐on engaged‐learning curriculum can have a positive influence on climate change beliefs and intentions and strengthen the association between the two constructs.  相似文献

In this paper, research on some problematic aspects high school students have in learning trigonometry is presented. It is based on making sense of mathematics through perception, operation and reason in the case of trigonometry. We analyzed students' understanding of trigonometric concepts in the frame of triangle and circle trigonometry contexts, as well as the transition between these two contexts. In the conclusion, we present some new problematic aspects we noticed.

The research was carried out with two groups of high school students, one of them at the beginning of their trigonometry learning (17 years old) and the other at the end of their high school education (19 years old). The students were given a questionnaire similar to that of Chin and Tall, and we analyzed the students' response. In our research, we noticed that students have difficulties with properties of periodicity and the fact that trigonometric functions are not one-to-one. In addition, there is poor understanding of radian measure and a lack of its connection to the unit circle.  相似文献

A study involving 916 students spanning grades 5–8 was conducted to investigate indicators that may contribute to enjoyment and confidence in mathematics. For this group of middle school students, mathematics enjoyment, mathematics confidence, and attitudes toward school were found to generally decline across grade levels. Mathematics enjoyment and confidence were also found to differ significantly based upon student preferences for future careers. Gender differences as well as similarities regarding predictors of mathematics enjoyment and confidence were identified. Specifically, the best predictor for end of year mathematics enjoyment for males was beginning of year attitude toward school, while the most significant predictor of end of year enjoyment for females was beginning of year dispositions toward mathematics (semantic perception). A strong relationship between mathematics enjoyment and confidence overall was found, with indications that activities that increase mathematics enjoyment contribute to increased confidence, and also that activities that increase mathematics confidence contribute to increased enjoyment.  相似文献

采用主观幸福感量表和社会支持评定量表,以高职高专的387名贫困大学生为被试对象,对高职高专贫困大学生主观幸福感与社会支持的关系进行深入研究.结果表明,贫困大学生的主观幸福感显著低于非贫困大学生,社会支持获得明显低于非贫困大学生;贫困大学生主观幸福感与社会支持存在显著相关性,女生社会支持获得高于男生;经过一年半的学习生活,贫困大学生的主观幸福感提高显著,社会支持机制的完善对贫困生主观幸福感的提升有明显的作用.  相似文献

使用成熟的测量教师知识的量表(SPOTK),从学生认可度视角调查了化学教师知识。研究表明,化学教师的学科知识和评价学生理解情况的知识2个维度好于教学策略知识和内容表征知识2个维度;不同的年级和性别的学生对化学教师的教学策略和表征方式的认可度也存在着差异。根据调查结果对化学教师如何提高自身的知识结构提出了建议。  相似文献

通过对目前在校的高三学生进行前期调查找到学生学习有机化学的思维障碍,针对学生的思维障碍进行了高二有机化学模块整体教学设计,并进行了具体的课堂实施。以2节针对不同层次学生的区级公开课“醛”为例,研究教师的教学行为和学生表现之间的相关性,通过前测和后测的对比证实有针对性的教学设计及实施能突破学生的思维障碍,为进一步研究有机化学教学的有效性提供参考。  相似文献

运用自编“高中生化学学科核心素养现状调查问卷”对湖北省范围内16个市(自治州)4类学校的36519名高中生首次进行大规模化学学科核心素养调查。结果表明:高中生化学学科核心素养总体表现良好,其中宏观辨识与微观探析素养水平最高,证据推理与模型认知素养水平最低;男生的化学学科核心素养及其5个维度上的表现均显著高于女生;高中生的个人维度为首要影响因素,其次为学校维度,家庭维度总体虽然影响程度不大,但是家庭经济状况对其化学学科核心素养具有较大影响;化学学习策略、化学学习动机、化学学习适应性对高中生化学学科核心素养及其5个维度具有显著正向预测作用,为强影响因素;湖北省骨干教师及市县高中化学学科教研员预测的影响化学学科核心素养因素的排序结果与实际学生调查结果存在差异。  相似文献

九年级学生在化学学习的过程中开始建立三重表征思维,同时,不同学业水平学生的三重表征转换能力会出现分化。为了探究学生在各个阶段三重表征转换能力的发展特点,采用眼动分析法对12名九年级学生进行了一学期的追踪实验。研究发现:(1)入门时期,学生进行不同表征之间转换的能力是有差异的,并且表现出转换和逆向转换能力的不对称性特点。学优生与学中生、学困生的三重表征转换能力有明显差异,但学中生与学困生的三重表征转换能力还没有表现出明显差异。(2)突破时期,学生进行宏观(中心)、符号(中心)、微观(中心)转换的注视点个数、测试总时间没有表现出统计学差异。学优生与学中生的转换能力分化更明显,学中生与学困生开始出现差异。(3)深化时期,学生宏观(中心)表征能力最强,符号(中心)表征能力次之,微观(中心)表征能力最弱。学优生与学中生、学困生的转换能力差异显著,学中生的间接转换频率明显增加。  相似文献

Research has recognized deductive reasoning as challenging but not impossible for young mathematics learners. In this paper, we present a learning environment developed to assist elementary-school students to bridge the empirical-deductive gap in the context of parity of numbers. Using the commognitive framework, we construe the empirical-deductive gap as part of a broader divide between two discourses that abide by different rules of a “mathematical game”: a discourse on specific numbers and a discourse on numeric patterns. Interdiscursivity is leveraged as a mechanism for instructional design, where students’ familiar routines with specific numbers are teased out and advanced to make sense in the new discourse. We mobilize this mechanism to create opportunities for students to play an active role in recognizing issues with empirical reasoning and generating deductive arguments to establish the validity of universal statements. The environment is illustrated with a small group of 8-year-olds who learned to justify deductively that “odd + odd = even”.  相似文献
