Homological Invariants and Quasi-Isometry

Building upon work of Y. Shalom we give a homological-algebra flavored definition of an induction map in group homology associated to a topological coupling. As an application we obtain that the cohomological dimension cd_R over a commutative ring R satisfies the inequality if Λ embeds uniformly into Γ and holds. Another consequence of our results is that the Hirsch ranks of quasi-isometric solvable groups coincide. Further, it is shown that the real cohomology rings of quasi-isometric nilpotent groups are isomorphic as graded rings. On the analytic side, we apply the induction technique to Novikov-Shubin invariants of amenable groups, which can be seen as homological invariants, and show their invariance under quasi-isometry. On Lorentzian Ricci solitons on nilpotent Lie groups

The aim of this article is to exhibit the variety of different Ricci soliton structures that a nilpotent Lie group can support when one allows for the metric tensor to be Lorentzian. In stark contrast to the Riemannian case, we show that a nilpotent Lie group can support a number of non‐isometric Lorentzian Ricci soliton structures with decidedly different qualitative behaviors and that Lorentzian Ricci solitons need not be algebraic Ricci solitons. The analysis is carried out by classifying all left invariant Lorentzian metrics on the connected, simply‐connected five‐dimensional Lie group having a Lie algebra with basis vectors and and non‐trivial bracket relations and , investigating the various curvature properties of the resulting families of metrics, and classifying all Lorentzian Ricci soliton structures.     

Radon transforms on Siegel-type nilpotent Lie groups

Let \mathfrak{N}:={{\displaystyle H}}_n\times {ℂ}^n be the Siegel-type nilpotent group, which can be identified as the Shilov boundary of Siegel domain of type II, where {{\displaystyle H}}_n denotes the set of all n\times n Hermitian matrices. In this article, we use singular convolution operators to define Radon transform on \mathfrak{N} and obtain the inversion formulas of Radon transforms. Moveover, we show that Radon transform on \mathfrak{N} is a unitary operator from Sobolev space W^n;2 into L²(\mathfrak{N}):

Tests for π-solvability of a finite group with seminormal Hall π-subgroup are established and the nilpotency of the third commutator subgroup of any group with seminormal noncyclic Sylow subgroups is proved.     

On the local and asymptotic behavior of Brownian motion on simply connected nilpotent Lie groups

The aim of this paper is to study the local and asymptotic behavior of Brownian motion on simply connected nilpotent Lie groups. We carry over a qualitative version of the Erdös-Rényi law of large numbers for Brownian motion to simply connected step 2-nilpotent Lie groups. The method applied gives rise to a proof for qualitative results concerning the modulus of continuity of Brownian motion on simply connected step 3-resp. step 2-nilpotent Lie groups without using the Ventsel-Freidlin theory as in Baldi.
