A nonlocal Boussinesq equation: Multiple-soliton solutions and symmetry analysis

A nonlocal Boussinesq equation is deduced from the local one by using consistent correlated bang method. To study various exact solutions of the nonlocal Boussinesq equation, it is converted into two local equations which contain the local Boussinesq equation. From the N-soliton solutions of the local Boussinesq equation, the N-soliton solutions of the nonlocal Boussinesq equation are obtained, among which the (N=2,3,4)-soliton solutions are analyzed with graphs. Some periodic and traveling solutions of the nonlocal Boussinesq equation are derived directly from the known solutions of the local Boussinesq equation. Symmetry reduction solutions of the nonlocal Boussinesq equation are also obtained by using the classical Lie symmetry method.     

Periodic and chaotic oscillations in mutual-coupled mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers

Dynamic states in mutual-coupled mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) were numerically investigated in the parameter space of injection strength and detuning frequency based on the Lang—Kobayashi equations model. Three types of period-one states were found, with different periods of injection time delay τ_inj, 2τ_inj, and reciprocal of the detuning frequency. Besides, square-wave, quasi-period, pulse-burst and chaotic oscillations were also observed. It is concluded that external-cavity periodic dynamics and optical modes beating are the mainly periodic dynamics. The interaction of the two periodic dynamics and the high-frequency dynamics stimulated by strong injection induces the dynamic states evolution. This work helps to understand the dynamic behaviors in QCLs and shows a new way to mid-infrared wide-band chaotic laser.     

Bifurcations and chaotic threshold for a nonlinear system with an irrational restoring force

Nonlinear dynamical systems with an irrational restoring force often occur in both science and engineering, and always lead to a barrier for conventional nonlinear techniques. In this paper, we have investigated the global bifurcations and the chaos directly for a nonlinear system with irrational nonlinearity avoiding the conventional Taylor's expansion to retain the natural characteristics of the system. A series of transformations are proposed to convert the homoclinic orbits of the unperturbed system to the heteroclinic orbits in the new coordinate, which can be transformed back to the analytical expressions of the homoclinic orbits. Melnikov's method is employed to obtain the criteria for chaotic motion, which implies that the existence of homoclinic orbits to chaos arose from the breaking of homoclinic orbits under the perturbation of damping and external forcing. The efficiency of the criteria for chaotic motion obtained in this paper is verified via bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, and numerical simulations. It is worthwhile noting that our study is an attempt to make a step toward the solution of the problem proposed by Cao Q J et al. (Cao Q J, Wiercigroch M, Pavlovskaia E E, Thompson J M T and Grebogi C 2008 Phil. Trans. R. Soc. A 366 635).     

周期型二元颗粒链中孤波传播的二体碰撞近似分析

本文运用二体碰撞近似理论研究了孤波在周期型二元颗粒链中的传播. 周期型二元颗粒链由N个大球和一个小球交替排列而成, 球的材质都相同. 将小球和与之相邻的大球等效成一个球, 形成一条等效链. 采用二体碰撞近似理论, 推导了孤波在颗粒链中传播的速度、通过颗粒链时间以及小球的振荡频率. 理论分析得到小球振荡频率随着半径的增大而减小, 该结果与计算机模拟结果符合得相当好. 二体碰撞近似理论给出的波通过整条颗粒链时间, 在N ≤ 2时与计算机模拟结果符合得很好. 理论计算的误差随链长的变化不大. 但随着N的增大, 理论得到的结果相对误差变大.     

Photodetachment of H- Near a Dielectric Surface

Using the closed orbit theory, the photodetachment cross section of H- near a dielectric surface has been derived and calculated. The results show that the dielectric surface has great influence on the photodetachment process of negative ion near the ionization threshold. Above the ionization threshold, the photodetachment cross section starts to oscillate. With the increase of the energy, the oscillating amplitude decreases and the oscillating frequency increases. The oscillation in the photodetachment cross section of H- in the presence of a dielectric surface is either larger or smaller than the photodetachment of H- without the surface. As the photon energy is larger than the critical value Epc, the oscillatory structure disappeared and the cross section approaches to the case of the photodetachment of H- without any external fields. For a given detached-electron energy, the photodetachment cross section becomes decreased with the increase of the ion-surface distance. Besides, the dielectric constant has great influence on the photodetachment of H-. With the increase of the dielectric constant, the oscillation in the cross section becomes increased. As the dielectric constant increases to infinity, the cross section is the same as the photodetachment of H- near a metal surface. This study provides a new understanding on the photodetachment process of H- in the presence of a dielectric surface.     

Breather Lattice Solutions to Negative mKdV Equation

In this paper, dependent and independent variable transformations are introduced to solve the negative mKdV equation systematically by using the knowledge of elliptic equation and Jacobian elliptic functions. It is shown that different kinds of solutions can be obtained to the negative mKdV equation, including breather lattice solution and periodic wave solution.     

Studies of closed orbit correction and slow orbit feedback for the SSRF storage ring

Details of the active ways to suppress Closed Orbit Distortion (COD), including bending magnet sorting and survey and alignment of the magnets, are discussed based on the studies of affections to the COD by the bending magnet field error and the misalignment of quadrupoles. The closed orbit correction and the Slow Orbit Feed Back (SOFB) system for the SSRF storage ring are presented in this paper. With these available methods, better results were obtained during the commissioning period with 3 GeV beam energy.     

190区超形变核中转动带的组态结构

通过系统研究A～190区超形变核中转动带的转动惯量、角动量顺排、旋称分裂随转动频率的变化规律, 结合我们用处理对力的粒子数守恒方法的计算结果, 对A～190区所有转动带的组态结构给出了一个整体的描述. 绝大多数超形变带都建立在强耦合轨道上, 例如中子[512]5/2, [624]9/2. 少数超形变带则建立在高j闯入轨道上, 即中子[761]3/2, [752]5/2. 根据我们提出的组态结构所进行的理论计算结果表明, A～190区所有转动带的一般行为、反常变化和带交叉都得到了满意的解释.     

Elliptic Equation and New Solutions to Nonlinear Wave Equations

The new solutions to elliptic equation are shown, and then the elliptic: equation is taken as a transformation and is applied to solve nonlinear wave equations. It is shown that more kinds of solutions are derived, such as periodic solutions of rational form, solitary wave solutions of rational form, and so on.
