Hilbert-space representations of the right cross-product *-algebra of the quantum SU(1,1) with a *-algebra related to Woronowicz's 3D-calculus on the quantum SU(1,1) are studied and classified.

In this paper, we consider the electromagnetic scattering by a periodic chiral structure. The media is homogeneous and the structure is periodic in one direction and invariant in another direction. The electromagnetic fields inside the chiral medium are governed by Maxwell equations together with the Drude-BornFedorov equations. We simplify the problem to a two-dimensional scattering problem and discuss the existence and the uniqueness of solutions by an integral equation approach. We show that for all but possibly a discrete set of wave numbers, the integral equation has a unique solution.     

Bifurcation of periodic solutions in differential inclusions

Ordinary differential inclusions depending on small parameters are considered such that the unperturbed inclusions are ordinary differential equations possessing manifolds of periodic solutions. Sufficient conditions are determined for the persistence of some of these periodic solutions after multivalued perturbations. Applications are given to dry friction problems.

Statistical properties of the periodic Lorentz gas. Multidimensional case

In 1981 Bunimovich and Sinai established the statistical properties of the planar periodic Lorentz gas with finite horizon. Our aim is to extend their theory to the multidimensional Lorentz gas. In that case the Markov partitions of the Bunimovich-Sinai type, the main tool of their theory, are not available. We use a crude approximation to such partitions, which we call Markov sieves. Their construction in many dimensions is essentially different from that in two dimensions; it requires more routine calculations and intricate arguments. We try to avoid technical details and outline the construction of the Markov sieves in mostly qualitative, heuristic terms, hoping to carry out our plan in full detail elsewhere. Modulo that construction, our proofs are conclusive. In the end, we obtain a stretched-exponential bound for the decay of correlations, the central limit theorem, and Donsker's Invariance Principle for multidimensional periodic Lorentz gases with finite horizon.     

Dynamical understanding of loop soliton solution for several nonlinear wave equations

It has been found that some nonlinear wave equations have one-loop soliton solutions. What is the dynamical behavior of the so-called one-loop soliton solution? To answer this question, the travelling wave solutions for four nonlinear wave equations are discussed. Exact explicit parametric representations of some special travelling wave solutions are given. The results of this paper show that a loop solution consists of three different breaking travelling wave solutions. It is not one real loop soliton travelling wave solution.
