Exact and explicit solutions to the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a saturable nonlinearity

We analyze the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a saturable nonlinearity through the (G^′/G)-expansion method to present some improved results. Three types of analytic solutions with arbitrary parameters are constructed; hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational which have not been explicitly computed before.     

The N-soliton solution of a two-component modified nonlinear Schrödinger equation

The N-soliton solution is presented for a two-component modified nonlinear Schrödinger equation which describes the propagation of short pulses in birefringent optical fibers. The solution is found to be expressed in terms of determinants. The proof of the solution is carried out by means of an elementary theory of determinants. The generalization of the 2-component system to the multi-component system is discussed as well as a (2+1)-dimensional nonlocal equation arising from its continuum limit.     

低功耗非线性光纤光栅全光开关

全光开关是未来全光通信和光计算机的关键器件.已经研究过的全光开关的种类很多,其中光纤光栅全光开关最容易与光纤系统匹配.文章首先陈述两种基于普通石英光纤的单光栅全光开关,即光纤布拉格光栅(FBG)全光开关和长周期光纤光栅(LPFG)全光开关,这两种低非线性的光开关要求千瓦量级的高开关功率,故不宜应用;然后重点介绍两种高非线性的光纤光栅全光开关,它们分别由单个高非线性FBG和用高非线性光纤连接的LPFG对构成.文章所介绍的非线性光纤材料是以掺稀土石英光纤为例.这两种高非线性的光纤光栅全光开关具有毫瓦量级的低开关功率,有可能获得实际应用.     

光参量荧光寿命分布

 根据荧光寿命定义和放大过程获得的增益方程,研究了新型非线性晶体BaAlBO₃F₂中三种不同的相位匹配模式下中心波长532 nm泵浦的参量荧光光子寿命的分布特性。结果表明,当注入单色信号光时,参量荧光寿命随泵浦光相位匹配角的增加由椭圆体分布变化为圆环体分布。采用宽带信号光时,则由分散分布改变为集中在近200 nm波长范围内分布,并随泵浦光相位匹配角的增加而逐步减小。考虑宽带泵浦光注入情况时,参量荧光寿命的分布范围由于相位匹配范围增加而随之扩展。     

Positive solution of singularly perturbed Dirichlet problem with singularities

A class of singularly perturbed boundary value problem with singularities is considered. Introducing the stretched variables, the boundary layer corrective terms near x = 0 and x = 1 are constructed. Under suitable conditions, by using the theory of differential inequalities the existence and asymptotic behavior of solution for boundary value problem are proved, uniformly valid asymptotic expansion of solution with boundary layers are obtained,     

A note on the existence of fractional f-factors in random graphs

Let G=Gn,p be a binomial random graph with n vertices and edge probability p=p(n),and f be a nonnegative integer-valued function defined on V(G) such that 0a≤f(x)≤bnp-2np ㏒n for every x ∈V(G). An fractional f-indicator function is an function h that assigns to each edge of a graph G a number h(e) in [0,1] so that for each vertex x,we have dh G(x)=f(x),where dh G(x) = x∈e h(e) is the fractional degree of x in G. Set Eh = {e:e ∈E(G) and h(e)=0}.If Gh is a spanning subgraph of G such that E(Gh)=Eh,then Gh is called an fractional f-factor of G. In this paper,we prove that for any binomial random graph Gn,p with p≥n-23,almost surely Gn,p contains an fractional f-factor.     

The attractor of the dissipative coupled fractional Schrödinger equations

In the present paper, we consider the dissipative coupled fractional Schrödinger equations. The global well‐posedness by the contraction mapping principle is obtained. Computational method for solving space fractional Fisher's nonlinear equation

This paper aims to present a general framework of the quadratic spline functions to develop a numerical method for solving the nonlinear space fractional Fisher's equation. Using Von Neumann method, the proposed method is shown to be conditionally stable. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The results reveal that the proposed approach is very effective, convenient, and quite accurate to such considered problems. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
