In tapping-mode atomic-force microscopy, non-linear effects due to large variations in the force field on the probe tip over very small length scales and the intermittency of contact may induce strong dynamical instabilities. In this paper, a discontinuity-mapping-based analysis is employed to investigate the destabilizing effects of low-velocity contact on a lumped-mass model of an oscillating atomic-force-microscope cantilever tip interacting with a typical sample surface. As illustrated using two tip-sample force models, the analysis qualitatively captures the potential loss of stability and disappearance of a low-contact-velocity steady-state response. The quantitative agreement of the predictions of the discontinuity-mapping-based analysis with direct numerical simulations, at least for sufficiently low contact velocity, supports its use in the passive redesign or active control of the tip-sample mechanism for purposes of preventing such a loss of stability.  相似文献

A new family of GB-majorized mappings from a topological space into a finite continuous topological spaces (in short, FC-space) involving a better admissible set-valued mapping is introduced. Some existence theorems of maximal elements for the family of GB-majorized mappings are proved under noncompact setting of product FCspaces. Some applications to fixed point and system of minimax inequalities are given in product FC-spaces. These theorems improve, unify and generalize many important results in recent literature.  相似文献

In this note, we speed up the convergence of the Picard sequence of iterations for strongly accretive and strongly pseudo-contractive mappings. Our results improve the results of Chidume [C.E. Chidume, Picard iteration for strongly accretive and strongly pseudo-contractive Lipschitz maps, ICTP Preprint no. IC2000098; C.E. Chidume, Iterative Algorithms for Non-expansive Mappings and Some of Their Generalizations, in: Nonlinear Analysis and Applications: To V. Lakshmikantham on his 80th Birthday, vol. 1, 2, Kluwer Acad. Publ, Dordrecht, 2003, pp. 383–429], and Liu [L. Liu, Approximation of fixed points of a strictly pseudo-contractive mapping, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 125 (2) (1997) 1363–1366], and some other known results. The technique of the proof, presented in this paper, is different from the technique used by Chidume.  相似文献

In Numer. Funct. Anal. Optim. 22 (2001) 641-656, we obtained an effective quantitative analysis of a theorem due to Borwein, Reich, and Shafrir on the asymptotic behavior of general Krasnoselski-Mann iterations for nonexpansive self-mappings of convex sets C in arbitrary normed spaces. We used this result to obtain a new strong uniform version of Ishikawa's theorem for bounded C. In this paper we give a qualitative improvement of our result in the unbounded case and prove the uniformity result for the bounded case under the weaker assumption that C contains a point x whose Krasnoselski-Mann iteration (xk) is bounded. We also consider more general iterations for which asymptotic regularity is known only for uniformly convex spaces (Groetsch). We give uniform effective bounds for (an extension of) Groetsch's theorem which generalize previous results by Kirk, Martinez-Yanez, and the author.  相似文献

In this paper, we give an affirmative answer to Sheretov's problem on the uniqueness of harmonic mappings and improve the unique minimal mapping theorem of Reich and Strebel. Meanwhile, we also solve a problem posed by Reich and obtain the uniqueness theorem on related weight functions.

Bilevel programming problems are hierarchical optimization problems where in the upper level problem a function is minimized subject to the graph of the solution set mapping of the lower level problem. In this paper necessary optimality conditions for such problems are derived using the notion of a convexificator by Luc and Jeyakumar. Convexificators are subsets of many other generalized derivatives. Hence, our optimality conditions are stronger than those using e.g., the generalized derivative due to Clarke or Michel-Penot. Using a certain regularity condition Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions are obtained.   相似文献

Ordinary differential inclusions depending on small parameters are considered such that the unperturbed inclusions are ordinary differential equations possessing manifolds of periodic solutions. We analyse the properties of a particular birational mapping of two variables (Cremona transformation) depending on two free parameters ( and ), associated with the action of a discrete group of non-linear (birational) transformations on the entries of a q × q matrix. This mapping originates from the analysis of birational transformations obtained from very simple algebraic calculations, namely taking the inverse of q × q matrices and permuting some of the entries of these matrices. It has been seen to yield weak chaos and integrability. We have found new integrable cases of this Cremona transformation, corresponding to the values of = 0 when , besides the already known values = 0 and = −1, and also arbitrary when = 0. For these cases, one has a foliation of the parameter space in elliptic curves. We give the equations of these elliptic curves. Based on this very example we show how one can find these integrability cases of the Cremona transformation and actually integrate it using a method based on the systematic study of the finite-order conditions of the Cremona transformation. The method is shown to be efficient and straightforward. The various integrability cases are revisited using many different representations of this very mapping (birational transformations, recursion in one variable, …).  相似文献
