Convergence analysis of modified iterative approaches in geodesic spaces with curvature bounded above

The objective of this article is to establish a new modified iteration process for nonexpansive mappings in complete CAT(κ) spaces. We prove strong and Δ‐convergence theorems of the proposed method in such spaces under some standard conditions. Furthermore, numerical experiments of non‐trivial examples are also provided to show performance and comparison speed of convergence with many previously known methods. Our main result extended and improved the corresponding recent results announced by many researchers.     

Note on the optimal transportation of distributions

We extend our work on the optimal mapping of distributions in three directions: (a) we consider any set-valued mapping, not just diffeomorphisms; (b) we distinguish between weak and strong optimality, and identify strong optimality with cyclic monotonicity; and (c) we prove that, under some restrictions, a weakly optimal mapping has the subgradient property.

A counterexample to the Bartle-Graves selection theorem for multilinear maps

We present an example showing that the multilinear version of the Bartle-Graves Selection Theorem is false, even on finite dimensional spaces.

     

Optimality conditions for strongly monotone variational inequalities

Necessary conditions for optimal controls have been obtained for strongly monotone variational inequalities by the penalty method, Ekeland's Variational Principle, and lower-semicontinuity of set-valued mappings. It has been shown that these conditions are easy to apply and can imply some known necessary conditions. They also yield new optimality conditions.     

A Modified Alternating Direction Method for Variational Inequality Problems

The alternating direction method is an attractive method for solving large-scale variational inequality problems whenever the subproblems can be solved efficiently. However, the subproblems are still variational inequality problems, which are as structurally difficult to solve as the original one. To overcome this disadvantage, in this paper we propose a new alternating direction method for solving a class of nonlinear monotone variational inequality problems. In each iteration the method just makes an orthogonal projection to a simple set and some function evaluations. We report some preliminary computational results to illustrate the efficiency of the method. Accepted 4 May 2001. Online publication 19 October, 2001.

Duality of Implicit Complementarity Problems by Using Inversions and Scalar Derivatives

The notion of infinitesimal exceptional family of elements for an ordered pair of mappings is introduced. By using a special inversion mapping, a duality between the exceptional family of elements for an ordered pair of mappings and the infinitesimal exceptional family of elements for an ordered pair of mappings is presented. By using this duality and the notion of scalar derivatives, existence theorems for implicit complementarity problems in Hilbert spaces are presented.Communicated by F. A. Convergence theorems for implicit iteration process for a finite family of continuous pseudocontractive mappings

In this paper, a necessary and sufficient conditions for the strong convergence to a common fixed point of a finite family of continuous pseudocontractive mappings are proved in an arbitrary real Banach space using an implicit iteration scheme recently introduced by Xu and Ori [H.K. Xu, R.G. Ori, An implicit iteration process for nonexpansive mappings, Numer. Fuct. Anal. Optim. 22 (2001) 767-773] in condition αn∈(0,1], and also strong and weak convergence theorem of a finite family of strictly pseudocontractive mappings of Browder-Petryshyn type is obtained. The results presented extend and improve the corresponding results of M.O. Osilike [M.O. Osilike, Implicit iteration process for common fixed points of a finite family of strictly pseudocontractive maps, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 294 (2004) 73-81].
