A technique for stability analysis of stringer shells is proposed. It is used to analyze the minimum critical stresses. The dependence of the dimensionless parameters σcrcl on the number of stringers is plotted. The linear and nonlinear theories of ribbed shells are used to examine the features of how stringer shells lose stability. A simplified optimal control method is presented for controlling or suppressing homoclinic bifurcations of general nonlinear oscillators with one degree-of-freedom. The simplification is based on the addition of an adjustable parameter and a superharmonic excitation in the force term. By solving an optimization problem for the optimal amplitude coefficients of the harmonic and superharmonic excitations to be used as the controlled parameters, the force term as the controller can be designed. By doing so, the control gain and small optimal amplitude coefficients can be obtained at lowest cost. As the adjustable parameter decreases, a gain of some amplitude coefficient ratio is increased to the highest degree, which means that the region where homoclinic intersection does not occur will be enlarged as much as possible, leading to the best possible control performance. Finally, it is shown that the theoretical analysis is in agreement with the numerical simulations on several concerned issues including the identification of the stable and unstable manifolds and the basins of attraction.  相似文献

Exact analytical solutions for a class of unsteady unidirectional flows of an incompressible second-order fluid are constructed. The flows are generated impulsively from rest by motion of a plate or two plates or by sudden application of a pressure gradient. Expressions for velocity, flux and skin friction are obtained for both large and small times. It is found that large and small times solutions are dependent on the coefficient of viscoelasticity. The solutions corresponding to Newtonian fluids can be easily obtained from those for fluids of second order by letting the viscoelastic parameter to be zero.  相似文献

In this paper we have numerically investigated the existence and uniqueness of a vertically flowing fluid passed a model of a thin vertical fin in a saturated porous media. We have assumed the two-dimensional mixed convection from a fin, which is modelled as a fixed, semi-infinite vertical surface, embedded in a fluid-saturated porous media under the boundary-layer approximation. We have taken the temperature, in excess of the constant temperature in the ambient fluid on the fin, to vary as  , where is measured from the leading edge of the plate and λ is a fixed constant. The Rayleigh number is assumed to be large so that the boundary-layer approximation may be made and the fluid velocity at the edge of the boundary-layer is assumed to vary as . The problem then depends on two parameters, namely λ and , the ratio of the Rayleigh to Péclet numbers. It is found that when λ>0 (<0) there are (is) dual (unique) solution(s) when is grater than some negative values of (which depends on λ). When λ<0 there is a range of negative value of (which depends on λ) for which dual solutions exist and for both λ>0 and λ<0 there is a negative value of (which depends on λ) for which there is no solution. Finally, solutions for 0<1 and 1 have been obtained.  相似文献

An analysis is presented for the primary resonance of a clamped-hinged beam, which occurs when the frequency of excitation is near one of the natural frequencies,n . Three mode interaction (2 31 and 3 1 + 22) is considered and its influence on the response is studied. The case of two mode interaction (2 31) is also considered to compare it with the case of three mode interaction. The straight beam experiencing mid-plane stretching is governed by a nonlinear partial differential equation. By using Galerkin's method the governing equation is reduced to a system of nonautonomous ordinary differential equations. The method of multiple scales is applied to solve the system. Steady-state responses and their stability are examined. Results of numerical investigations show that there exists no significant difference between both modal interactions' influences on the responses.  相似文献

By taking infinite periodic beams as examples, the mutual variational principle for analyzing the free wave propagation in periodic structures is established and demonstrated through the use of the propagation constant in the present paper, and the corresponding hierarchical finite element formulation is then derived. Thus, it provides the numerical analysis of that problem with a firm theoretical basis of variational principles, with which one may conveniently illustrate the mathematical and physical mechanisms of the wave propagation in periodic structures and the relationship with the natural vibration. Steadily rotating solutions of the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equationu t + 2 u++¦u¦ 2 =c 2 are studied. These solutions bifurcate from the steady radial solution of the above equation. For large values ofc and angular velocities such that¦<2c<(N+1)¦¦, we show that there exists a 2N-1 family of bifurcating solutions. The proof is based on a certain generic transversality assumption. The theory of homogenization which is a rigorous method of averaging by multiple scale expansions, is applied here to the transport of a solute in a porous medium. The main assumption is that the matrix has a periodic pore structure on the local scale. Starting from the pores with the Navier-Stokes equations for the fluid motion and the usual convective-diffusion equation for the solute, we give an alternative derivation of the three-dimensional macroscale dispersion tensor for solute concentration. The original result was first found by Brenner by extending Brownian motion theory. The method of homogenization is an expedient approach based on conventional continuum equations and the technique of multiple-scale expansions, and can be extended to more complex media involving three or more contrasting scales with periodicity in every but the largest scale.  相似文献
