An efficient transient Navier–Stokes solver on compact nonuniform space grids

In this paper, we propose an implicit higher-order compact (HOC) finite difference scheme for solving the two-dimensional (2D) unsteady Navier–Stokes (N–S) equations on nonuniform space grids. This temporally second-order accurate scheme which requires no transformation from the physical to the computational plane is at least third-order accurate in space, which has been demonstrated with numerical experiments. It efficiently captures both transient and steady-state solutions of the N–S equations with Dirichlet as well as Neumann boundary conditions. The proposed scheme is likely to be very useful for the computation of transient viscous flows involving free and wall bounded shear layers which invariably contain spatial scale variation. Numerical results are presented and compared with analytical as well as established numerical data. Excellent comparison is obtained in all the cases.     

Time-average holographic interferometry with a sinusoidally modulated laser diode

Laser diodes have the features of a single-mode operation and a frequency tunability. Holographic interferometry is described for investigating the vibrating amplitude and phase with a frequency-modulated laser diode. Sinusoidal wavelength change by varying laser injection current produces the sinusoidal phase modulation of relative phase difference between the reference and vibrating object paths. Holograms are made by time-average exposure of three-type recording modes with a laser diode. The phase of vibrating object is extracted from the measurements of Bessel-type fringe irradiances in three kinds of time-average holographic reconstruction. Experimental results of phase and amplitude for a vibrating cantilever object are shown.     

多光束全息互连元件效率的理论分析

多光束全息互连元件往往需要大量的耦合波方程才能描述。本文通过分析记录时生成的互调制光栅的性质及其对衍射的影响,对问题进行适当的简化。通过解不同条件下的耦合波方程、分别给出了多光束全息图在各种不同情况下的衍射效率的近似解析表达式,展示了衍射效率与各实验参量之间的关系。为进一步研究多光束全息互连元件的性质、比较各种条件下的效率以及各参量对总体效率的影响,提供了方便。     

Galactic cosmic-ray modulation and solar-terrestrial relationships

Summary Representative examples of the Italian scientific undertaking on galactic cosmic-ray modulation within the GIFCO projects are given. Also current ideas from the international community on long-term effects are discussed. To speed up publication, the proofs were not sent to the authors and were supervised by the Scientific Committee.

Analysis of a particle method for the one‐dimensional Vlasov‐Maxwell system

In this article we present a particle method for solving numerically the one‐dimensional Vlasov‐Maxwell equations. This method is based on the formulation by characteristics. Monomiality and partial differential equations

We show that the combination of the formalism underlying the principle of monomiality and of methods of an algebraic nature allows the solution of different families of partial differential equations. Here we use different realizations of the Heisenberg–Weyl algebra and show that a Sheffer type realization leads to the extension of the method to finite difference and integro-differential equations.     

Numerical approximations of one-dimensional linear conservation equations with discontinuous coefficients

Conservative linear equations arise in many areas of application, including continuum mechanics or high-frequency geometrical optics approximations. This kind of equation admits most of the time solutions which are only bounded measures in the space variable known as duality solutions. In this paper, we study the convergence of a class of finite-difference numerical schemes and introduce an appropriate concept of consistency with the continuous problem. Some basic examples including computational results are also supplied.

     

Positive solutions of Neumann problems with singularities

In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions to second order singular equations with Neumann boundary conditions. The proof of the main result relies on a nonlinear alternative principle of Leray-Schauder, together with a truncation technique.     

半导体激光器的超高频调制

本文从理论上分析了半导体激光器的超高频调制特性和脉动电流引起的张弛振荡现象。分析了国产DHGaAlAs半导体激光器调制过程中出现的一些问题。实验证明,采用微带匹配技术,可使这类激光器的调制频率达1.3GHz。
