Applying the semi-classical quantum tunneling model, we have studied the Hawking radiation via tunneling from a cylindrically
symmetric black hole. The derived results show that the tunneling rate of at the event horizon of the black hole is related
to Bekenstein–Hawking entropy and the factual radiation spectrum is not strictly pure thermal, but is consistent with the
underlying unitary theory.

A new method is presented for the determination of Ricci Collineations (RC) and Matter Collineations (MC) of a given spacetime, in the cases where the Ricci tensor and the energy momentum tensor are non-degenerate and have a similar form with the metric. This method reduces the problem of finding the RCs and the MCs to that of determining the KVs whereas at the same time uses already known results on the motions of the metric. We employ this method to determine all hypersurface homogeneous locally rotationally symmetric spacetimes, which admit proper RCs and MCs. We also give the corresponding collineation vectors. Experiments studying renormalization group flows in the quantum Hall system provide significant evidence for the existence of an emergent holomorphic modular symmetry Γ0(2). We briefly review this evidence and show that, for the lowest temperatures, the experimental determination of the position of the quantum critical points agrees to the parts per mille level with the prediction from Γ0(2). We present evidence that experiments giving results that deviate substantially from the symmetry predictions are not cold enough to be in the quantum critical domain. We show how the modular symmetry extended by a non-holomorphic particle–hole duality leads to an extensive web of dualities related to those in plateau–insulator transitions, and we derive a formula relating dual pairs (B,Bd) of magnetic field strengths across any transition. The experimental data obtained for the transition studied so far is in excellent agreement with the duality relations following from this emergent symmetry, and rule out the duality rule derived from the “law of corresponding states”. Comparing these generalized duality predictions with future experiments on other transitions should provide stringent tests of modular duality deep in the non-linear domain far from the quantum critical points. 相似文献

In batch mixers the stirring of a fluid is known to be particularly effective when the motion of the stirring rods form nontrivial braids. This motion is desirable as it generates (predictable) exponential stretching of material lines. Additionally, it has also been recognized that flow structures themselves (such as periodic islands) may adopt the role of proxy or “ghost” stirring rods. For a number of designs (which form nontrivial braids), we investigate the prevalence of ghost rods that effectively replace stationary stirring rods (baffles) as the latter are removed from the batch mixer. We show (for the case of Stokes flow) that designs with fewer baffles have comparable material stretch factors to corresponding designs with all baffles present. 相似文献

By the statistical entropy of the Dirac field of the static spherically symmetric black hole, the result is obtained that the radiation energy flux of the black hole is proportional to the quartic of the temperature of its event horizon. That is, the thermal radiation of the black hole always satisfies the generalised Stenfan--Boltzmann law. The derived generalised Stenfan--Boltzmann coefficient is no longer a constant. When the cut-off distance and the thin film thickness are both fixed, it is a proportional coefficient related to the space--time metric near the event horizon and the average radial effusion velocity of the radiation particles from the thin film.
