In this paper we prove the uniform convergence of the standard multigrid V-cycle algorithm with the Gauss-Seidel relaxation performed only on the new nodes and their "immediate" neighbors for discrete elliptic problems on the adaptively refined finite element meshes using the newest vertex bisection algorithm. The proof depends on sharp estimates on the relationship of local mesh sizes and a new stability estimate for the space decomposition based on the Scott-Zhang interpolation operator. Extensive numerical results are reported, which confirm the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate spline wavelets on general triangulations. In particular, we are interested in wavelets generated from piecewise quadratic polynomials. By using the Powell-Sabin elements, we set up a nested family of spaces of quadratic splines, which are suitable for multiresolution analysis of Besov spaces. Consequently, we construct wavelet bases on general triangulations and give explicit expressions for the wavelets on the three-direction mesh. A general theory is developed so as to verify the global stability of these wavelets in Besov spaces. The wavelet bases constructed in this paper will be useful for numerical solutions of partial differential equations.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the stability and convergenceof time integration schemes for the solution of a semi-discretizationof a model parabolic problem in 1D using a moving mesh. Thespatial discretization is achieved using a second-order centralfinite-difference scheme. Using energy techniques we show thatthe backward Euler scheme is unconditionally stable in a mesh-dependentL2-norm, independently of the mesh movement, but the Crank–Nicolson(CN) scheme is only conditionally stable. By identifying thediffusive and anti-diffusive effects caused by the mesh movement,we devise an adaptive -method that is shown to be unconditionallystable and asymptotically second-order accurate. Numerical experimentsare presented to back up the findings of the analysis.  相似文献

We apply the hp ‐version of the boundary element method (BEM) for the numerical solution of the electric field integral equation (EFIE) on a Lipschitz polyhedral surface Γ. The underlying meshes are supposed to be quasi‐uniform triangulations of Γ, and the approximations are based on either Raviart‐Thomas or Brezzi‐Douglas‐Marini families of surface elements. Nonsmoothness of Γ leads to singularities in the solution of the EFIE, severely affecting convergence rates of the BEM. However, the singular behavior of the solution can be explicitly specified using a finite set of functions (vertex‐, edge‐, and vertex‐edge singularities), which are the products of power functions and poly‐logarithmic terms. In this article, we use this fact to perform an a priori error analysis of the hp ‐BEM on quasi‐uniform meshes. We prove precise error estimates in terms of the polynomial degree p, the mesh size h, and the singularity exponents. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper we present a first supercloseness analysis for higher-order Galerkin FEM applied to a singularly perturbed convection-diffusion problem. Using a solution decomposition and a special representation of our finite element space, we are able to prove a supercloseness property of $p + 1/4$ in the energy norm where the polynomial order $p ≥ 3$ is odd.

A low order anisotropic nonconforming rectangular finite element method for the convection-diffusion problem with a modified characteristic finite element scheme is studied in this paper. The O(h2) order error estimate in L2-norm with respect to the space, one order higher than the expanded characteristic-mixed finite element scheme with order O(h), and the same as the conforming case for a modified characteristic finite element scheme under regular meshes, is obtained by use of some distinct properties of the interpolation operator and the mean value technique, instead of the so-called elliptic projection, which is an indispensable tool in the convergence analysis of the previous literature. Lastly, some numerical results of the element are provided to verify our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

This work is devoted to the design of multi-dimensional finite volume schemes for solving transport equations on unstructured grids. In the framework of MUSCL vertex-based methods we construct numerical fluxes such that the local maximum property is guaranteed under an explicit Courant–Friedrichs–Levy condition. The method can be naturally completed by adaptive local mesh refinements and it turns out that the mesh generation is less constrained than when using the competitive cell-centered methods. We illustrate the effectiveness of the scheme by simulating variable density incompressible viscous flows. Numerical simulations underline the theoretical predictions and succeed in the computation of high density ratio phenomena such as a water bubble falling in air.  相似文献

A block-structured mesh large-eddy simulation (LES)/probability density function (PDF) simulator is developed within the OpenFOAM framework for computational modelling of complex turbulent reacting flows. The LES/PDF solver is a hybrid solution methodology consisting of (i) a finite-volume (FV) method for solving the filtered mass and momentum equations (LES solver), and (ii) a Lagrangian particle-based Monte Carlo algorithm (PDF solver) for solving the modelled transport equation of the filtered joint PDF of compositions. Both the LES and the PDF methods are developed and combined to form a hybrid LES/PDF simulator entirely within the OpenFOAM framework. The in situ adaptive tabulation method [S.B. Pope, Computationally efficient implementation of combustion chemistry using in situ adaptive tabulation, Combust. Theory Model. 1 (1997), pp. 41–63; L. Lu, S.R. Lantz, Z. Ren, and B.S. Pope, Computationally efficient implementation of combustion chemistry in parallel PDF calculations, J. Comput. Phys. 228 (2009), pp. 5490–5525] is incorporated into the new LES/PDF solver for efficient computations of combustion chemistry with detailed reaction kinetics. The method is designed to utilise a block-structured mesh and can readily be extended to unstructured grids. The three-stage velocity interpolation method of Zhang and Haworth [A general mass consistency algorithm for hybrid particle/finite-volume PDF methods, J. Comput. Phys. 194 (2004), pp. 156–193] is adapted to interpolate the LES velocity field onto particle locations accurately and to enforce the consistency between LES and PDF fields at the numerical solution level. The hybrid algorithm is fully parallelised using the conventional domain decomposition approach. A detailed examination of the effects of each stage and the overall performance of the velocity interpolation algorithm is performed. Accurate coupling of the LES and PDF solvers is demonstrated using the one-way coupling methodology. Then the fully two-way coupled LES/PDF solver is successfully applied to simulate the Sandia Flame-D, and a turbulent non-swirling premixed flame and a turbulent swirling stratified flame from the Cambridge turbulent stratified flame series [M.S. Sweeney, S. Hochgreb, M.J. Dunn, and R.S. Barlow, The structure of turbulent stratified and premixed methane/air flames I: Non-swirling flows, Combust. Flame 159 (2012), pp. 2896–2911; M.S. Sweeney, S. Hochgreb, M.J. Dunn, and R.S. Barlow, The structure of turbulent stratified and premixed methane/air flames II: Swirling flows, Combust. Flame 159 (2012), pp. 2912–2929]. It is found that the LES/PDF method is very robust and the results are in good agreement with the experimental data for both flames.  相似文献
